"You seem to be on a path few have made it as far on..." He tells you. "The price is for you to continue down that path and, maybe, end the suffering of this place."
Kale, you study the girl's belongings, but there is nothing much there that tells you anything more than you already know. The only thing of real significants is the room key. It is clearly a roomkey to the Dancing Spider.
Whitegaze will pass on the drink for now, unless its something he can put in a flask or bottle and carry with him. He'll spend his downtime chatting with any other patrons, looking for useful gossip about the Dancing Spider or the Invisible Stair beast. He will also offer to use his tools to carve designs into the bar if Cicero would like, or clean up any design already there.
Kale says to Cicero "I'm sure I'm going to need that potion later, but I'll hold on your offer for now. What I need right now is a good rest, and a way into the Dancing Spider, now that we've obtained Cecilia's room key." (He'd also bottle and bring the drink along if it was possible, in potion form.)
Merric nods. "Aye, Cicero, I'll pay that price but sort'o on a consignment basis. Hold that drink fer me. Like as not I'll be needin' it later."
Arranging for a meal in his rooms, Merric makes his pleasantries to the others and heads upstairs, awaiting his conversation with Kale. Later, after Kale leaves, drops into an exhausted sleep, though being sure to keep his magical rapier close at hand. Upon waking, Merric washes, eats the breakfast left for him, then pulls out his Poisoner's Kit. Time to gain an edge, I'm thinkin'. A little truth serum would be handy and I have some already. But, praps some Oil o' Taggert...no, Drow sleepin' poison. The Drow be nasty but they do know how to put people to sleep. Might be nice to take a prisoner for a little questioning. And...given what Whitegaze be sayin' 'bout that creature on the Stairs, praps some Purple Worm juice for extra kick.
Sitting at the table in his room, Merric goes through his kit, determining what poisons he has ingredients for.
ooc: DD what does Merric have ingredients for? Can I figure he has what he needs as the Poisoner's Kit description is light on details.
Merric nods. "Aye, Cicero, I'll pay that price but sort'o on a consignment basis. Hold that drink fer me. Like as not I'll be needin' it later."

Depends on what you have spent coin for in regard to supplies. The basic poisoner's kit allows for just basic poisons. If you used coin, from the money I gave you to start the game, then you can have other, more rare, ingredients as well.
Asking around about the Dancing Spider, you learn only what you already knew. It only shows if you have a room key, but, as long as you do have a room key, you will not have any trouble finding it.
You take a 2 day rest here. Those who wish to do something during that time can do so, while those with exhaustion levels should try to do less than others.
Lia does accepts the drink from the innkeep, and looks better as the days go on. She tells her story as you rest. She was dreaming about rainy streets and dark shadows for several nights in a row, then, just a few hours before meeting the group, she woke up in this very inn. She left to see if she could find a way out of the city, and that was when she ran into the group.
After the two days are up you are all healed of exhaustion. Al-Ashari is attuned to the mirror,a nd are ready to go.
Merric, I assume you are reading the book of children's stories. If some other book, then let me know which one. For the children's book it just appears a bunch of stories right now. You feel that there is something there, but cannot place it just yet. Same goes for anyone else who has studdied it so far.
At some point while they’re resting, Whitegaze will seek out Al-Ashari, “So, what does that mirror do? (If she explains its function) Have you tried using it on that nifty blade or the book yet?”
ooc: Yes, Merric would definitely have accumulated ingredients over the years to create the more esoteric poisons. He would like to craft at least 1 dose of the Purple Worm poison and at least 2 of the Drow poison. However, based on the prices in the DMG he doesn't have enough for the Purple Worm (2000 gp per dose). Instead, he will make 2 doses of Serpent Venom Poison to go with the drow.
Merric frowned as he realized his supplies for both Purple Worm and Wyvern poison were exhausted. He had enough serpent toxin for several doses though it was a weak poison, as those things went. And more than enough for several doses of Drow sleeping poison. He shuddered when he remembered what he'd had to do to get that recipe. Figuring out replacement ingredients for those fungus and mushrooms not available outside the Underdark had been far more fun.
Sighing, he set about crafting the poisons. I think I'll be startin' with 2 doses of each. I've plenty of ingredients but praps Cicero can help me there.
Later, during a break, Merric went to the common room and sat at the bar. "Cicero, me fren, I have a question for ye. I've been known to brew me some potions and salves and was wondrin' if there be any apothecaries or herbalists here'bouts, where I might get me the stuff I needs. Be there any such?"
"Blade or book?"Al-Ashari explained the features of the mirror to everyone the moment she learned it, but did not think about studying such mundane objects. "I was thinking to try and find Cecilia. When we all are feeling better. But may be you are right, before trying something difficult, let's start with simple things."
And she started with the book - she did not even have to ask Merric to return it, the pages were practically memorized when she meditated on the secrets of the stories. Al-Ashari looked into the mirror, keeping the image of book in her mind.
Al-Ashari gets a bunch of random images from the book. It plays through her head in quick order, jumping from one thing to another. When it completes she puts together the below...
The Bull’s Curse: No asking anything but 13 questions. No more, no less. The Badger’s Oath: conversations should not exceed 13 minutes in length. The Skull’s Laugh: Noone should cast a spell using verbal components. The Hunter’s Tread: Noone should unsheathe a weapon in violence. The Twins’ Revelation: Noone should wear a disguise. The Wolf’s Path: Noone should leave whilst a conversation takes place. The Widow’s Mercy: No weeping or mourning The Rose’s Spite: Each character must bear something of beauty on their person, or openly display a scar. The Dragon: No open flame.
She realizes these are some sort of old rules of conduct.
((In other words - a normal fast tavern food? )) Before Al-Ashari could reveal anything, she excused herself and almost run out of the main room. She returned in a minute and tell those interested what she saw.
"I wonder if those rules were broken and it led to the current conditions of the city, or whether they were imposed later, after monsters invaded it. Cicero, have you ever heard about such rules?"
"Lass, do you know if'n those codes are for this city, or a particular place in this city?" Merric takes a pull of his wine, before going on. "Praps that be the place we needs to go next, if it be a place."
"those are the rules to the Amber Convention." He tells the group. "Old, very old, and powerful, beings follow those rules. They are forced to do so, by who and what those beings are. The Amber Convention is more a law of nature to them than anything else. If someone meets one of those ancient powers, following the rules of the Amber Convention is often the only way to survive." His face is slightly more pale than you have previously seen it, and he makes himself a drink. "I did not know any source of the rules still existed..."

Al-Ashari would accept the drink (in her room). She is spending time studying the mirrir (and attuning to it).
