"Lass, if'n its all the same tuh ye, I'd as soon walk on me own two feet. Or, he says with a grin," getting to his feet and mounting the 'mastiff', he sighs contentedly. "on this here beasty's four feet. No offense to'n your'n magic but I'm thinkin' I've had enough o' magical risks this day." He smiles his most winning smile, not wanting to offend the lady.
Kale pulls out a fuzzy ball from his bag of tricks and throws it a bit away from the group, hoping vainly for a horse to appear.

"I'm exhausted," he declares. "And we've got some things to talk about in the comfort of our own quarters at an inn. Or inside of a tiny hut I can cast, if we don't make it to the inn," he adds, stifling a yawn. "Let's get out of here. Being this close to the asylum gives me the heebee jeebies."
(edit what'd Kale get - a 4... wait! it's a "goat!")
"I've got me somethin' like that, Kale. I'll see if I get lucky fer ye." With that, Merric grabs one of the colored patches on his Robe of Useful Items and tosses it to the ground, about 15' away.
ooc: DD, I'm hoping for the horse. Does Merric know which one that it is or will it be random? If random, the roll is below.

Should work by having you roll for how many patches and which ones, then pull off the one you want.
How long are you planning on resting. Lia has 3 levels of exhaustion, so that will take a full 3 days to recover from. Others have 2 levels. Are you using any spells to speed this up?
Greater Restoration. 2 per day for Kale. He used one on Whitegaze, the other he will use on Lia. Rest, recast, how many ppl left exhausted after that? if it‘s just him we can carry on, or if someone else has it, we can shorten the time. I have to rebuild Kale anyway to replace archived spells, have not got around to it. But Greater Restoration will be staying ;)
Given how many people have 2 levels, I’d say cast it once on Lia and just rest two days, don’t forget its 100 gold of diamonds per cast, don’t want to run out if we need them later.
ooc: That sounds like a plan. We can spend the time discussing the tarot reading and planning our next move, and discussing what each of us experienced in and around the Asylum.
As the weary group tramps into the inn, Merric dismounts from Kale's 'mastiff'. "Thank ye fer the loan o'your beastie, me friend." He adds in Thieve's Cant, "We needs to speak 'bout Lia. Please come to me room when the spellwork be finished."
OOC: assuming Kale comes to his room.
When the knock comes, Merric puts the book down, "Come in, me friend....Oh...'tis you Kale. How may'n I be helpin'?" Once the door is closed, Merric begins a conversation about innocent things, such as Kale's experiences in the City, where they are both from, that sort of thing. The real conversation takes place in Thieve's Cant.
"I'm a suspicious halflin' by nature, I don't min' admittin'. But that's not changin' the facts. An' the facts is that somethin' be off 'bout that girl. When first we meets her she's bein' menaced by some mean creatures. Then, we leaves her alone outside the'Sylum and she's attacked by ghosts and umberhulks? An' we've got to save her..again. I'm thinkin' there's a wee chance somethin' less'n obvious is occurin'. What're ye thinkin', me friend?"
After joining Merric, Kale begins to wax eloquent about the continuous rain, the depressive atmosphere, the pervasive madness, and his great discomfort with it all compared to his former life of relative luxury to Merric. He's fairly good at carrying on this double-conversation, and you even have the strong impression that he is actually quite serious about his first-world grievances and displeasure at lacking underlings at his beck and call to do what he considers more unpleasant tasks, like sorting through Cecilia's posessions. Despite that, the actual conversation he has with Merric in the Cant has a bit more substance.
Well, there's something off about everyone who comes to Elysium. I'm sure it's catching. Give it a week or so, and even we may begin to act like the locals. I'm not convinced this is a trait unique to Lia, nor that she's a plant, for one simple reason. These sort of attacks have happened to everyone... myself included... every single time we have broken off from the group to strike out on our own. It's as if the unsavory things in this city can sense lone individuals upon their streets and prey upon them, like predators separating their prey from the herd. The attacks Lia draws have happened when she's been left on her own. The solution, then, is to keep her close. You can continue to monitor her this way as well, and regardless of that she's a powerful magician. If nothing else, her own sense of self-preservation will help keep the rest of us alive. Think of her as a tool to be used. We simply need to be sure to grip her by the handle, and not the blade.
Cicero keeps a small and highly illegal cache of drinks behind the bar. Correctly mixed, a secret which Cicero guards jealously, one of his signature Bloody Awfuls can cure a character as if affected by a Greater Restoration spell. A character can benefit from a Bloody Awful only once.
"You decide if you wish to have one of my special drinks now or not..." He tells the group as he explains the effect of his special drink.

"Non taken, lad, it was just a suggestion for the most tired of us. I might risk it, though, if only to try it out. Something long overdue."

yeah I would retcon that post if you can... roll your patches, then decide if you pull ;). also LOL one of them is a mastiff
ooc: Really, you can roll the patches ahead of time? The description does not seem to suggest that but cool!

In addition, the robe has 4d4 other patches. The GM chooses the patches or determines them randomly.
Actually...it's 2 Mastiffs, if DD keeps the roll.

Everyone makes it back to the tavern/inn no problem. The innkeeper gives you all a knowing look, and ushers you all off to beds right off.

Merric will rest until his exhaustion is gone reading the book while he is at it. Does he get any insights?

I think we rest as much as it needed to get rid of exhaustion - with or without spells. (Preferably "with", of course)

Actually Kale can upcast GR if needed and get it done in I think only 1 day. Of course if Joetaro wants to actually help out... XD
