The face presses up against the glass, squishing comically against the rounded surface of the lamp.
Back in the room, Anansi notes a few small belongings that might amount to a few copper's worth to a street tinker. Of note as well, your eye only catching it as you make your last steps out of the room, is a metallic sphere, much like the ones modeled back at Ib-drip's, but older-looking, grungier, and with a small gash in one side revealing spiraled and grooved inner workings under its metallic skin. At your touch, it remains inactive, though a moment of prodding and turning it over reveals a circular glass pane hidden behind a moving sheet of metal, rather like an eye under its lid. The eye is dark and unresponsive.
The hammer is finely crafted, with a thick, sturdy handle covered in ornate carving and detail work. The head is a squat and squarish, with tapering edges and similarly inscribed with some unfamiliar language. Not touching it, your close look reveals no more about the weapon.
Sereena places the piece holding the faces up to the lamp so that they touch, to see if anything happens. “Like moths to a flame, or seeing an escape. Let’s see if this does anything.”
Anansi picks up the sphere and carefully places it in his bag, making sure the eye is covered and can't be used to spy on the group. He then wanders back to the others. "I would say it may be best to show it to some wiser than ourselves. We don't know what it contains and releasing it may bring further issues."

“Valid point. I will just grab the bag of stuff since we can’t move the hammer and head back up the ladder.” She starts to move away and then turning back she asks, “Are we sure that was the creature that they could not defeat? Is our work done here?”
ps: sorry for the afk team. I'm in Hawaii and COVID-19 is ******* us up since our state gov is extremely inept. things have settled at my office so i should be able to pay closer attention.
It becomes clear to you after a moment of study that this object is powerfully enchanted with a cunning blend of abjuration and enchantment magic. Crisscrossing markings intersect with one another, blending together two very powerful spells of restraint. You suddenly realize that whatever is in this bottle is probably very powerful, and potentially volatile. The face in the land glares at you and tries to shout something. As it presses against the glass, you suddenly realize that where it presses closest the markings seem to bulge and bend, straining against the force of the thing within. As you watch closely, a single grain of sand falls from the lamp, pressed out from between the magical barriers bonding the metal and glass of the lamp itself.
"It seems this thing is keeping whatever we're seeing on the other side of its surface," Gadus says to the group. "Not sure if it is contained within, or if this is a portal to another place, but the magics weaved into it are keeping the entity(ies) from reaching us."
Anansi looks it over more carefully again. "Whatever you do, make sure it says undamaged. In my experience arcane wards are usually made to keep unpleasant things in."

Agreed. Whatever it is doesn’t look happy at being in there and I don’t fancy being the target of its ire. Let’s head back maybe the little one will know what to do with it.
Heading back up to the stair ladder, you ascend above the yawning abyss beneath and beyond. As you climb, however, you notice an odd yellow light that seems to be coming from up where you left your guide. As you climb up, you see that the guide has fallen asleep, his head drooped over his book of dwarf poetry. However, the source of the odd light seems to be right above his head - a flashing gold rune that instantly reminds you of the gnome you saw at the beginning of the bar fight a little over a night ago. A few moments pass, and the rune fades into a wisp of smoke. The gnome suddenly awakens and regards you with slightly bleary eyes.

Salazar walks over and takes a closer look at the hammer, without touching it. Investigation 20

The glow of the lamp begins to flicker sympathetically with the bottle.
Hmm looks too nice to have been left here, I don't trust it.......
“Do you see this reaction? Should I place this in the fire and see if there is a reaction? Or should we just move on?” Sereena asks.

"May I?" Gadus asks, motioning at the lamp (1).

"Hmmph!" He stands and straightens himself.
Great job at sentry duty. Nothing says professional like taking a nap. Come on we are done here
"I wasn't - " he starts irritably, then pauses, blinking a little.
"Never mind. Are you all finished?"
"We killed something. Don't know if it was the right thing, because no one told us what to kill, but it was the last something down there."

“We also found an unmovable hammer, some supplies, and this.” And Sereena holds out the item with the faces within.
