Turning back into a Humanoid i walk over to Nighthill I am well aware you are not the General of a hardened nation but when warriors that have saved half your town tells you that a threat is not smart and should focus on fortifying your position you should at the very least be able to identify when someone else's expertises are greater than your own. please just take this advice to better yourself.
Tar turns around once the door is secured and sighs at the situation. Then abruptly stomps an acolyte skull into the cobble, and spits on the corpse. "Is everyone alright?" he checks the door again, "This place is going to need a palisade wall for some better defense around this keep... and a redoubt at the riverbed maybe."
I thought I was done for. I've never seen this level of carnage. I don't know what I'm doing out here, and if it wasn't for you fine strangers I would surely have passed on. These cultists are troublesome, I hope Talis is safe.
I'm not accustomed to the ways of those, so very different than I, but I am in no place to judge. Your valor and strength in the field are a testament to all that you are capable, I would judge you not for anything less than your contribution to the greater good, the will and spirit of Ilmater. May he bless you and guide all your actions.
"I wouldn't worry, Lyria, you have stong wind in yer lungs still, as our house would say. Much tekilek- er... respect-" Tar nods to the group, "Winning and survival is just as much luck, as skill. These people are luckier than they could have been had a different caravan rolled in." He stops and thinks for a moment and then adds to Place's thoughts to Nighthill; "Do we know what the situation report is, Governor? My concerns lie with Places thoughts as well; food stores are a risk only winter or a siege might warrant. We discovered they're mostly looting- so we might have cost them more bodies than they might want to spend to siege the keep for unknown rewards. If we don't know their numbers, we can wait. But if you have any people that can scout- and give us eyes out there, we'll know whats left of the assault, or even if it's time to counter with harassment assaults."
"Right now I think we have to get this door repaired. Escobert, go find the woman who mended those things for us. If any of you know Mending, that would be most helpful. This door wouldn't hold to another assault as is."

Escobert returns with a young lady that starts casting Mending on the door and the bar to hold it. "This is a lot of damage, it'll take a few minutes."
"Very well, just do your best. If we can get the door repaired, I doubt they'll attack again. Most of their force has moved on with the things they stole, and you dispatched their attack force here, as you've done every other force. They're probably quite upset with you. In any case, Their numbers are much more limited now to waste them trying to attack a solid door again, especially when they already failed once."
A few minutes go by. You hear another force moving around just outside the door, and hear hushed voices, but Kod hears something to the effect of them realizing the door is currently being repaired, and they move on.
Waiting around in the Sally Port, you all get another short rest. No purchases or sales, since you're not near anyone else besides Nighthill, Escobert, and the lady fixing the door, but feel free to use hit dice if you have any left, and gain your short rest abilities back. The last part of the chapter is coming up.

Eventually, you find yourselves atop the keep with Nighthill and Escobert and a handful of guards keeping watch. From the darkness, a creature strides into the dim light of the dying fires around the keep. Although it is shaped roughly like a human, it is at least seven feet tall, its skin is covered in blue scales, its fingers bear wicked claws, and its face has the muzzle and reptilian eyes of a dragon. (Anyone can make an Arcana or Nature check, your choice.) The creature stops about eighty yards from the main gate of the keep and scans the walls. A line of kobolds fans out behind it. With their spears, they prod four human prisoners into the dim light. You can make out a woman, a teenage boy in a blood-soaked tunic, and two children. Then the half-dragon creature hails the keep.
“Defenders of Greenest! This has been a successful night, and I am feeling generous. Do you see these four pitiful, useless prisoners? We have no need for them, so I will trade them back to you. Send out your best warrior to fight me, and you can have these four in exchange. On my honor, a one on one fair fight is the only way these four will see sunrise.”
One of the guards watching over the edge blurts out before you can react, "That's my sister and her children!" and attempts to run inside the keep to get out, at which point Escobert and a few other guards hold him back.
"That's suicide, Sergeant Markguth. Look at that thing, you won't survive that."
Nighthill approaches the party. “My friends, you’ve demonstrated your prowess all through this frightful night. I realize this is an awful burden to ask you to bear, but any of you has a better chance to defeat that horror than any of my militia have.”
DC 15 Arcana or Nature:
This creature is a Half-Dragon. Somehow a higher mix of dragon blood than even a dragonborn. Although, it bears a striking resemblance to Kod...
I would not be afraid to take this challenge, but if someone else wants to, they'll have my guidance. Guidance cantrip on anyone who takes the challenge. 5 nature and arcana are the same so.... whichever really.
Potato steps forward to his group and puffs out his chest. "Potato strong. Potato will fight." Potato looks each of his compatriots in the eye, then gives Nighthill an earnest nod. "Potato ready."

Potato helps close the doors. Does a little victory kata, slashing at the air with his scimitar.

"I have collected over a dozen Kobold anus and I few other ingredients, enough for pickling and a stew, if anyone want to add anything to it."
A polite smile, of which would be expected from the average human let alone one of the cloth. I'll pass, but thank you for the offer.
