Kod deftly steps out of the way, seeing the breath coming. It arcs a little bit into him, but his own draconic heritage further protects him from the electric attack. (3 damage total) Kod's axe comes down on Cyanwrath's head, who fell for Kod's bluffing attack. It appeared he was going to miss, but changed trajectory at the last second. The blow chips Cyanwrath's horn slightly and staggers him. "I've had about enough of you, whelp!" He marches forward, swinging his blade in a criss-cross pattern. Attack: 13 Damage: 11 Attack: 17 Damage: 11 One strike catches Kod. He's now bleeding, and cut up pretty bad. (5 more HP, bringing you to 1, LOL)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kod breathes heavily stands straight up. Bleeding from s deep gash from under his left rib cage up to his right shoulder. (Deffinately a scar). Squares up. He leaps at the enemy swinging his axe as hard as he can.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kod swings but the angle forced the blow to glance harmlessly off Cyanwrath's armor. Even with the encouraging cries of his team, Kod is not doing well. "You've got stamina, I'll give you that. At least you put up a good fight." Cyanwrath stabs once. Attack: 24 Damage: 12 (Oh shit.) The sword enters Kod's chest and comes out his back. Kod thinks for a split second that with the speed and power behind that last strike, maybe he was holding back this whole time? This is all that has time to get through his brain as everything goes dark. He can't see anything, all sound is muffled, but he feels Cyanwrath's foot on his stomach as the sword is wrenched from his body, then the ground as it slams against his back.
Cyanwrath stabs Kod in the leg once while he's down, not deep, but enough to let out more blood. "Thank you, Greenest, for providing such a good champion for my entertainment! As promised, your prisoner returned." The captive woman runs to the keep, unimpeded by Cyanwrath's forces. He then quickly moves with a small army of kobolds to meet up with the rest of the retreating cultists who have already loaded up wagons and are heading Southeast.
"Healers! Get healers to him now!" Nighthill yells and several guards with healer's kits rush into the field.
Lyria places a hand on Kod's injured, broken body and he stops bleeding out. He goes into a peaceful slumber from his previous violent comatose state.
Between you and the healers Nighthill sent running out, Kod is brought inside the keep. The prisoners are reunited, and Nighthill meets you there. "You've been instrumental in preventing this raid from being worse than it could have been." He pulls out 2 healing potions and hands them over. "Make sure Kod gets these when he wakes up. Get some rest, you've earned it. We'll discuss our next steps in the morning if you're willing to help."
We have finally reached the end of Session 2 of Chapter 1: Greenest in Flames! Take a long rest. You all gain: 80 Gold 1 Level and 10 Downtime Days (As per Season 9 AL rules, you may refuse this level, but the only real reason to do so is to gain more gold to reach your level cap, which is 80, and you're all there, so... yeah, take the level and the downtime.)
Remember to update your logsheets, or you can do something as simple as adding a blurb in your character's "Notes" section, as long as the following information is documented: Adventure Title: DDHC-HotDQ Hoard of the Dragon Queen Session: 2 Date Played: 3/24/20 Location: Online DM: Me DM DCI #: 5317024182 Levels Gained: 1 Gold +/-: 80 Downtime +/-: 10
Other than that, make sure you follow the PHB +1 rules for your Sub-class and spell selections, then notify me when you're done so I can verify your character is good to go. Once you've all leveled we will proceed with Session 3/Chapter 2 of Hoard of the Dragon Queen!

-We are all just one failed saving throw away from someone else's fantasy...
Kod awakens confused. He takes a deep breath in holds for a second and releases. His hand goes to his chest and he feels the fresh scars. The long gash across his chest intersected with the much smaller stab wound. He reaches behind him and feels its counterpart on his back. His eyes widen as he realizes where he is and what happened. He leaps from the bed roaring. "Where is he? Where did he go?" He looks around for a familiar face as Lighting arches from his shoulder to the bed he was just in doing 1 lightning damage to it. "I can still kill him. He needs to die." He roars again with another bolt of lightning arching to a different empty bed doing another 3 lightning damage to it.
I run into the room having been meditating by the door
CALM YOURSELF, it's over.... you lost... nothing will ever change that... you failed
grab Kod by his shoulders taking 3 maybe?
focus, you failed Kod but he was unable to kill you so you can still win no matter what the reason he had whether it be sentiment or lack of ability he wasn't able to kill you so focus this energy on getting stronger
Potato is eating an onion at a table in the corner. He thinks, then speaks. "Kod not fail. Kod strong enough to stand against stronger enemy. Potato saw Kod's axe leave mark. When other bluescale look in mirror, he not see self, but he see Kod. He remember Kod's axe. He know Kod is coming. Kod with him always now."
Potato takes another big bite and hops off his chair, slowly padding over to Kod. "Honor not in killing. We kill all day, win over enemy who fight like us. That not honorable. That just what we do. Honor in standing when shouldn't stand. Honor in memory, making good story. Kod honorable. Potato remember. Potato tell Kod's story. Everyone remember Kod's axe."
Kod stops his rampage. The lightning subsiding. Breathing returning to normal. "I don't care about my story. I don't care that I marked him. I don't care how he feels. I only care that the man that killed his sister... My mother. Stops breathing. His end is the only thing that matters."
Kod leaves the room to look for food and to find a shield to compliment his new fighting style.
Potato no offense but what the **** are you talking about?! Kod wasnt honorable in not killing him he lost he failed that's not a bad thing to fail but he did, and that other blue guy didnt spare him he tried to kill him and left him to die not stepping on someone's throat on your way out isnt a form of mercy I dont think what you said matched the fight we just saw. And I would humbly suggest you dont surgar coat the lesson he straight up failed and should be proud and make himself better
Tar digs around the keep for a cargo net and ropes it under a support timber. Sleeping there for a time, he wakes to hear Kod well enough to be pissed... and listens as the conversation unfolds just inside the door. "Yea, he's not dead..." The dragonborn grumbles amused from his hammock without stirring. "...But whatever, or whoever, bent him to turn on his own kind, he know's he's a failure now. So he's gotta look at that in the mirror too..." he drops out of the make-shift hammock to a thud. "We'll get 'em. Our people have survived much worse, and our clans remain solid. But you're right Place, it isn't honor- he's a kin-slayer, and it's a damn reckoning."
In the warm light of day, it is seen that the fires have died down with the exception of a few smoldering piles, and about half the homes in town have been reduced to a foundation topped with ashy rubble. After you've all rested and perhaps done some shopping or selling, Governor Nighthill and Escobert the Red approach you. (assuming you're all back together afterward.) "I want to know who was behind the attack on Greenest, and why this town was a target. They retreated toward the southeast, and their trail should be easy to see. A small, stealthy group could follow the trail to the raiders’ camp and gather information. I have a proposal: If you find out where the camp is sited, how many raiders are left, who their leaders are, what’s motivating these attacks, and where they plan to strike next, I'll pay you each 80 gold on your return. If you are able to recover any valuables that were stolen from the town, I would like them returned, but I'll do my best to arrange a reward from what’s left of the town treasury. Any gear or supplies you need for the trip will be furnished by us, pending available resources, of course."
A new session has begun! As Tier 1 characters, everyone remember that on top of any potions you have in your inventory, you get a bonus potion that goes away at the end of the session if you don't use it. You all get inspiration as well. In case any of you didn't see, here's a list of potions and scrolls you might be able to afford with your current amount of gold, in case you want to make any last-minute purchases before hitting the trail: Potion of...Cost Healing 50gp Climbing 75gp Animal Friendship 100gp Greater Healing 100gp Water Breathing 100gp

Buying spell scrolls is a great way to cast spells outside of your PHB+1, because you are not restricted by that rule for purchasing gear. I know none of you are wizards, so scrolls don't hold as high a value for you, but any spellcaster can buy a spell scroll as a one-time use spell slot, essentially. I'll let you decide if that's worth the gold.
Since we're still at the beginning of the chapter/session, I'll allow anyone who wants a Greater Healing Potion but didn't realize it was an option, and perhaps bought a regular Healing Potion instead, to return it at full price to purchase the Greater variety. This doesn't apply to any potions in your inventory before the end of the last chapter, though, let's be fair. For reference, the regular heals 2d4+2, and the greater heals 4d4+4, exactly double for exactly double the price, it's just 1 action instead of 2 to heal that much.
Now, let's get in it!
