"Mmmhmm", Tar Hordkhen seconds Kod, pulling the bolt out of the kobold and tossing into the tunnel. "Lets keep our beatings to a manageable level...", as he follows the druid wolf.
You carry on down the stream and slowly push through the thickets until you exit in front of a stone wall about 10' high. It seems easy enough to climb, with lots of hand and footholds. (A DC 10 to get up to the top, 5 or lower and you lose your grip and fall for 1d6 bludgeoning, 6-9 and you simply don't make it up.) You see thick black smoke coming from what you think is the rear of the building, on the South side. You hear chanting and screaming and clanging, unintelligible gibberish that's just loud.
Anyone can roll perception to listen closer. A 15 or higher reveals this:
Every now and then there's a very loud "Now!" followed by a thud. You think they're using a battering ram on the door. The yelling noises seem to be moving, perhaps a group encircling the building.
Anyone that succeeds in getting to the top of the wall can see this:
There are 4 cultists and 4 kobolds clustered tightly around the temple’s back door. Their meager fire produces little flame, instead creating prodigious clouds of thick smoke that engulf the back of the temple and blanket the surrounding 30 feet of ground. You're not sure how long before the door actually catches.
The majority of the sound is coming from 4 cultists, 12 kobolds and 2 small drakes in a mob that stretches 50 feet. This procession with leaping and whirling kobolds completes one circuit around the temple approximately every eight minutes.
Still another group is at the front of the temple, you can't see how many there are but it sounds as though they are trying to bash the doors in. You can see that one of the cultists at the front door is dressed differently than the others and seems to be giving orders.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The dragonborn cranes his head listening to Potato relay his scouting and nods back. "They're really sacking this place. We need to weigh options- time our assault to keep attention low... or if we have to bare the brunt, funnel the crowd how we want it..", he half whispers back before climbing.,.
Ath 23 Per 5
Tar Hordkhen muses a moment peeking over the wall..."Maybe we watch the mob, and after they pass hit these karshoji lunatics at the back door and get the people out?"
Those of you that have seen the smoke relay that it could be used as cover to sneak up on the group at the back wall, if you're stealthy enough.
Lyria may make her next Athletics check to get up the wall with advantage since Hordkhen is using the Help action from above.
Currently at the top of the wall: Kod Potato Hordkhen Place' is up if someone other than Hordkhen uses the Help action, since he's helping Lyria
Delirious and Lyria need to roll new Athletics Checks
Jumping or falling off the wall on the inside might reveal your position, so everyone will also need to make an Athletics check for climbing down, same difficulty. I will allow the Help action to be used again if you'd like, but you should note who is helping who and how, similar to Hordkhen's post.

I wait for the patrol to round the corner. Lower rope for wolf Place pull him up and lower to the other side and join him in sneaking to the back group.
Kod nods. "I understand. The druid has a plan lets follow him."
"Mmmhmm", Tar Hordkhen seconds Kod, pulling the bolt out of the kobold and tossing into the tunnel. "Lets keep our beatings to a manageable level...", as he follows the druid wolf.
I agree, we aren't equipped to fight them all. I'll follow anyone's lead, closely.
