Dwal fires three glowing magical darts. Snaking adeptly around the three adventurers in front of him with lighting speed, the two remaining centipedes stiffen in an arcane glow, and then collapse, smoking slightly.
All four creatures are dead. Combat is over.
Seth unleashes a whoop, as he celebrates his cutting one of the centipedes in two. He holds his sword in the air in an adrenalin-induced high. "YES! The Royal Saltmarsh Guard are once again VICTORIOUS!"
He picks up one of the centipedes and tries to skin it. "You think Kester would pay for these?" he asks Butter. But he just makes a mess of it.
He moves closer to Missy and Dwal. "I just hope we're not the magicians that fool cuts in half," he mutters. Then louder, to Seth,"Sir, d'you think we could take Qivys's comrades out to the cart first? It is why we came out to this gods-forsaken house, after all."
"Baddies first, bodies later! Let's go kill some smugglers!" he shouts, triumphantly.
"Cellar through here?" he asks Qivys, stepping into the scullery. Farley and Butter obediently follow, Butter sneaking another sip from his water flask.
"Yes. Watch that first step. It's the screecher". His own attention is still fixed on the centipedes last meal. The gruesome sight only strengthening his resolve. Sanbalet must die.
The party, led by Seth, files through the scullery and down the cellar stairs. Seth steps carefully over the first tread but almost immediately slips on ball-bearings in the dim light - 16 - He nearly tumbles down the stairs but manages to right himself.
"Traps!" he gasps.
The wine cellar is how you left it. The dead unnamed adventurer continues to decay in the darkness. The secret door is closed.
Seth surveys the scene with his hands on his hips, while Farley pokes the foul-smelling corpse with his sword. Butter searches the bottle racks on the north and west walls.
"So. Where's the magician? That the magician?" he asks, nodding at the corpse.
Butter, on his hands and knees, pulls a full bottle of wine out from deep under one rack. He examines the label (bearing the image of a jauntily dressed unicorn) and raises an eyebrow. He stuffs in into his pack and continues to search.
Missy follows the other guards, being careful of the traps on the stairs. She does a loop around the room, sliding her fingers over the wine racks and ending by Qivys. Watching avidly as he opens the secret door.
"Ah ha!" says Seth. "Missy! Butter! Farley!" he snaps. He strides over and gives the secret door a mighty kick. Being a sliding door, it does not open, but it does make a loud wooden bang. You hear a pot drop somewhere behind. Seth then fumbles with it and finally slides open the hidden panel.
AAAAAAAAAAI YAGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH! HGGGHHHAAIIII...
The arcane screaming is triggered once again, this time by the secret door. Qivys has heard it twice before, but the others are deeply unnerved by the unearthly shrieks. Only Qivys' descriptive warning stops many of the others from bolting back up the stairs.
The room beyond is torchlit, but empty. The bodies have been removed since yesterday, together with three of the broken beds.
Seth waves an invitation for Qivys to enter first. His facade of confidence muted slightly, he adds "Arright. Show us where these smugglers are."
"Sanbalets quarters are there to the left. The door marked DANGER has some foul beast we guessed, but never opened it. Theres a secret door in the far right corner, that's where the ambush came from. Also where they escaped from."He gives a brief description of the surrounds to any who might be interested. The sense of familiarity of the room unnerves him. This is where it all happened. The blood rushes from his face.
Dwal sees nothing of note. The room is tidy and shows no sign of recent combat. There are dirty, recently-used dishes on the table, and the torches were lit not many hours ago.
Seth directs Farley to check Sanbalet's room, and Butter to check the secret door. Butter seems nervous, but still pretty drunk.
"Locked" reports Farley. Butter fumbles around with the shelves and finds the secret door. He peers through it. He shuts it quickly and swears loudly. "Huge chasm!" he gasps. "Giant red bats!"

He picks up one of the centipedes and tries to skin it. "You think Kester would pay for these?" he asks Butter. But he just makes a mess of it.
Seth holds his sword in the air again. "Now let's go cut a magician in half!" he pronounces. "Let's go!"
Peri:
He moves closer to Missy and Dwal. "I just hope we're not the magicians that fool cuts in half," he mutters. Then louder, to Seth, "Sir, d'you think we could take Qivys's comrades out to the cart first? It is why we came out to this gods-forsaken house, after all."
Dwal
Dwal has a bit of a scowl on his face upon hearing the halfling's words. "I go where I damned well please." he says gruffly.
"Baddies first, bodies later! Let's go kill some smugglers!" he shouts, triumphantly.
"Cellar through here?" he asks Qivys, stepping into the scullery. Farley and Butter obediently follow, Butter sneaking another sip from his water flask.

Dwal
"If it were I'd wager you wouldn't need to be here." he says responding to Seth's question.
Dwal will survey the room a bit.
Perception: 17
Peri:
Peri will remain at the top of the stairs, keeping watch in case something -- or someone -- tries sneaking up behind the group.
Qivys
Qiv chuckles to himself that Kas' trap had actually been triggered by the rescue team and not a bad guy in pursuit.
"No, the magician escaped through a secret door in the next room". He walks up to the wall where the original secret door had been found.
(Don't know if Qiv needs a roll to find it but here's one just in case 13 without any modifications)
Missy
Missy follows the other guards, being careful of the traps on the stairs. She does a loop around the room, sliding her fingers over the wine racks and ending by Qivys. Watching avidly as he opens the secret door.

Dwal
Dwal will move up with Qivys, shield out and hammer at the ready.
Peri:
"Well, they know we're here now. Qivys, you said there was an ambush last time. How did they set it up?"
Qivys
"Sanbalets quarters are there to the left. The door marked DANGER has some foul beast we guessed, but never opened it. Theres a secret door in the far right corner, that's where the ambush came from. Dwal
Dwall will stay silent as Qivys addresses Seth. Once done and Dwal seeing Qivys expression he will say:
"Easy lad, you have more than you did with you when this started. You will be fine." clasping Qivys on the shoulder as he does.
Dwal will scan the room.
