(Certainly! Although as she is currently in the vault occupied by a semi-vaporized undead entity, the peg-legged boy will have this initial round to do whatever it is doing. Then we can roll initiative if you're prepared to pursue and attack.)
Qivys moves up to take Boko's place if she gives chase. "Ain't gonna let this go by without doing it right." he says as he does so.
If Boko stays, Qivys will place his hand on the bear. "Ya got ta wait till he's whole." the dwarf tells her. "Give it a moment then we can strike. Lankus, give me a couple of those stakes, then watch our backs."
Qivys steps up to the stone casket and watches patiently as Bela's form begins to slowly rematerialize from vaporous form within. He is unconscious.
Lankus holds out his open hands. "I don't have any stakes," he apologizes. "Peri had them." Then, remembering what he has in his back, he fumbles for a moment and produces and handful of items: some silvered daggers, several flasks of holy water, a string of garlic, and a bottle of Winter Turnip. "Will any of these work?"
Bokobear tears off after the peg-legged boy, only to find the room empty (except for the two disturbing corpses on the floor and the arcane stone circle in a large puddle of water.)
"Blast" Qivys mutters. Qivys takes out a javelin and removes the metal from the tip, cutting a sharp angle into the wood, creating a new tip, and will plunge it into the vampires heart once it has materialized fully. "If this don't work, you run from here and tell them in Saltmarsh what happened." he tells Lankus. "I ain't got much fight left in me so you best be ready." he warns.
Qivys snaps off the end of his javelin and fashions its wooden shaft into a pointy stake.
Once the vapor has fully condensed into the unconscious form of Bela, Qivys jams it into his chest.
Bela's eyes flare open with a gasp as he stares directly at Qivys. "You..." he begins, before withering into a gnarled, ancient, petrified-looking corpse, one hand frozen grasping for the stake.
Qivys immediately cuts the head off and leaves, carrying the head by the wisp of hair at the top. He will start making his way out of this evil place.
Once outside he will look for a place that might show a bit of sunshine when the sun is up. If he finds such a place, Qivys will pull out another javelin and press the tip firmly into the ground. Once done, he will afix the head on top of it and wait.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Boko follows the peg legged boy into the room and, seeing nothing in there, shifts back to herself.
Before Qivys has a chance to move outside with the Head of Bela, she scans the arcane stone circle and the corpses and tries to figure out what its purpose was/is, what dangers it presents, and what those figures are doing there.
Regular d20 roll, not sure if this is religion, arcana, nature, perception, investigation: 13
Boko suspects the flooded room must be used for arcane rituals of some sort, although she has no idea what happened here. The corpse on the floor seems to be wearing a ceremonial outfit of some sort, but it looks as though it collapsed here in some sort of attack or accident; the body is not in a pose you might expect if it had been brought and placed here. The stone circle, covered with arcane runes, seems to suggest the "portal" that she had overheard mention, but she notices that one of the stones has had a rune damaged, scratched through.
There is no sign of Gerrard, Peri, Qivys, or the pale peg-legged boy. The scent of the strange boy is still in the room, but quickly fading.
Meanwhile, Qivys saws through the tough, leathery corpse and manages to finally free Bela's sinewy shriveled head. Carrying it upstairs and back outside, he finds the world outdoors to be pitch-black, and cradled in a warm, still, silent, unearthly fog hovering over the lifeless, gravel-strewn ground. Stepping a short way away from the building, Qivys mounts the head upon the javelin, and wedges the javelin into the gray rocky soil.
Boko tosses a stone into the circle to see if it disappears. When Qivys rushes by after her with Bela’s head, she speaks up. “Where are you going? Do not take long, we now need to have to find Gerrard, Peri, and Kei.” She may talk to the paladin’s back but she does talk to him.
She tries to run her mind back through what she remembers of the layout and map of this place - how many unexplored doors and passages could be behind and in front of her. (OOC needing a refresher of what’s there…)
The stone vanishes without a sound in the stone circle.
Besides the other crypts, there are two apparent unexplored areas in the basement – the archway across from the teleportation room where the pegleg boy emerged from, and the northern arch near the stairway.
"They will get around ta showin' up." Qivys says as he walks out. With that Qivys heads outside, plants the head on the end of one of his javelins and takes a seat. "Need ta take a breather after that one." he mutters to himself as he relaxes stiff muscles and wipes his face of sweat from the heat of the battle.
Boko grabs the remains of the undead fellow behind her and sticks him partway into the circle, just his head. Then brings it back. Does the head return? Does it look damaged?
Boko scoops up the ashen remains of the figure on the floor – it crumbles to the touch, so the process is a little messy.
Slowly feeding the bulk of the withered corpse into the stone circle, some arcane force suddenly and immediately grabs hold of the figure and yanks it within, almost violently, nearly pulling Boko in with it. The figure vanishes, leaving Boko with empty (if now rather dirty) hands, and a crumbly mess upon her clothing.
Meanwhile, Qivys finds no rest outside. The misty black air is eerily still, and the atmosphere outside unearthly and highly unsettling. The severed head on the javelin is far from comforting; Bela's eyes seem to be silently watching him.
"What tha hell are you lookin' at." Qivys mutters to the head. Finding little rest Qivys will get up, dust himself off. "You wait right here, I'll be right back." he tells the head. With that Qivys will head back inside to find Boko and the others.
Boko’s face screws up into a grimace as the remains disappear and then cling to her hands and she ducks her head into the archway across the hall to see where the boy might have been hiding. If nothing interesting, she returns to the portal room, steeling herself to jump inside (perhaps about when Qivys arrives back there?).
Across the hall is another chamber, symmetric in shape and position to the room with the arcane circle.
The ceiling of this chamber is made of two thick steel doors connected to fat chains tied to a pulley system. A stout metal lever seems to control it. Levitating in the center of the square chamber is a human size crimson crystal, slowly but continuously rotating. Below the crystal, chained and bound atop a stone altar is a human child, clearly pale from blood loss. She is semiconscious.
If the child is chained to the altar, Boko will squeeze some water from her water skin onto a key anchor point of the chain and with shape water she freezes the water, and hopefully the chain link.
She rears back with her staff, or if she has a chance of causing damage with her fists, and tries her best to break the chain.
Attack: 21 Damage:7
Again if needed
Attack: 18 Damage:8
She keeps her eye out for anything trap-like she sees here but her intent is to break the chains and get the child free and out of the room, and would hand over her waterskin once the child is free. If secure she would look at ways to hit or crack or frostbite the red crystal.
It takes some effort, but with sufficient work, Boko finally manages to break the chain holding the child to the altar. She is grateful these thin chains weren't nearly as hefty as those holding the large trap door in the ceiling.
Freed, the girl takes a long and desperate drink from Boko's waterskin. She looks sickly and weak.
"Lysandra," she answers to the first question. "Lord Xolec," to the second.
The huge levitating, rotating crystal is within reach, but it is smoothly polished and lacks any obvious cracks or weak points.
"Let's get her out of here, fast," whispers Lankus from the doorway, clearly unnerved.
“Where are the other children?” the druid asks the child. Whatever the answer, Boko hands Lysandra to Lankus along with her meal kit. “I can heal her later but for now you are right, we need to move. Get her to safety. If you want to run outside you can do that but you can also just stay in the hall, or upstairs. I believe I will attempt to throw a wrench into their plans, now that their sacrifice is freed. I hope this breaks something of theirs, but not the portal, not quite yet. I will be right behind you.”
She ties a loop in the end of her hempen rope and tosses it over the lever. She moves out of the room and gives it a tug, readying a frostbite cantrip to hit anyone bad who appears if the doors open.
