Moving into the room, Gerrard looks behind the the murals, using his moon-touched blade to illuminate the bare walls behind. "I'll look for hidden doors behind the murals," he says as he goes.

"This room oughta do, don't you think? One door, the right size -- not too big but not cramped -- and no rats. And there's bound to be somethin' more interestin' to read than The Magical Properties of Plants. We can barricade the door and get a decent night's rest."He begins perusing the shelves, looking for anything interesting.
Gerrard examines the walls behind the faded tapestries. There is nothing there but peeling paint. No hidden doors or other surprises.
Peri examines the bookshelves. A few of the older works deal with the worship of the sea god Procan, but most are newer tomes dealing with philosophical quandaries and the passive contemplation of nature. Peri finds a handwritten poem scrawled into the open cover of one book.
Beware the sea and its scarlet harbinger. Beware the sword and death that await. For guidance, we beseech almighty Storm Lord; Consign to our foes Tammeraut’s fate.
Lying sloppily atop the bookshelf are four scrolls that look to Peri like they might be magical.
Seeing his friends search the room give Thwack the giggles (well, the kobold equivalent). "See? Look for treasures is good!" His search method is a lot less thoughtful. He skits from checking under stools to behind the door and then sniffing the tapestries. He gleefully picks up a desiccated spider skin and examines it thoughtfully. He tosses it with a snort "Not pretty".
When he's satisfied there's no treasure he moves to the door. "Thwack watch while you sleep". He sits cross-legged just inside the door and stares at the portal.
"Aye, Thwack. But monsters first, then traps, then treasure,"Peri says, realizing he really should follow his own advice. But given there were no explosions, or poison darts or spiky pits, this room felt safe.
Peri confirms with his eldritch sight that the scrolls are in fact magical, then gathers them up to have Qivys or Boko take a look at them. But seeing them both exhausted and preparing to sleep he decides it can wait until morning. The doggerel doesn't appear to offer any insight either, so he decides he'll hand it off to Gerrard when he takes his watch. He selects a book on nature, slightly disappointed -- You'd think a library with all this nautical decor would have a few pirate books! -- and settles in where he can keep an eye on both the door and Thwack. Not that I think he'll stab us all in our sleep, but I don't trust him not to get hungry and wander back to the rat pile for a snack.
Peri indeed confirms that the four scrolls are magical, not that he can read any of them.
(Is everyone settling in for a long rest in the library? Any further precautions? Is Thwack staying up the whole night, or is anyone else taking watches? Thwack - and anyone else who intends to take a watch - make a perception roll.)
Boko takes a bit of time to try to re-blockade the doors and windows that the party had opened up on their entry inside. She doesn't touch the rats.
"I think that the main threat is from the sea. That diary, everything I have seen in this place... Perhaps there are threats in here, but the main one is from the ocean, from all we know. I am exhausted but I could rally myself to clear the rest of the rooms on this floor so we at least know that. Qivys, I am not asking you to do any more than rest here, you need it badly."
She looks to the others. "Clear the other rooms on this floor to give a small amount of peace of mind? And then we rest in this room, with that door blockaded. One other note is rations. I gave all my water, mess kit, and rations to Lankus and the children we saved. I have nothing for myself today. Do any of you have anything that survived your journey?"
Having made himself comfortable, Thwack listens to Boko's proposal of clearing the whole floor. "Grumpy can't fight no more and Bernard look like he fall asleep already. My thinks need sleep before cleaning whole house. Is OK, Thwack watch door." He sits up straight and continues to stare at the door.
"What, Thwack's rats don't appeal?"He digs in his pack and pulls out 2 rations, tossing one to Boko. "If you're lookin' for food, always start with the halfling. Only have a couple left, though, so it'd be good to get back to town tomorrow."
"If you wanna check out the first floor rooms I'll go with you. We can probably talk Thwack into goin' too. But if you need to rest we're pretty safe in here, even if there are zombie pirates lurkin' out there."
((If Boko wants to clear the ground floor, Peri will start by carefully cracking open the double doors just north of the library and peeking through. Stealth: 17, Perception: 23))
”Quite noble of you, Mistress Alcor. Thankfully, my magical bag of holding seems to have retained its contents unspoiled,” says Gerrard as he reaches into the bag and pulls out rations to share.
”I am relatively uninjured and can accompany you to investigate the remainder of the rooms on this level if you would like,” he adds.

Qivys sighs and gets back up and shakes his head. He props up the glaive and sets down his pask. He unstraps his battle axe and shield, and with them setting back the door to poke around the area some more.
Not quite relaxed enough to rest, the party explores the room to the north, led by Peri.
It's a large hall, with a vaulted ceiling that rises to nearly thirty feet high at its center. The area is dominated by a flagstone hearth at the north end and a twenty-foot-high wooden balcony above your heads to the south, supported by rickety-looking posts. High windows are set into the east and west walls, which also have door-sized holes smashed through them at either end of the balcony.
The shattered remnants of a large trestle table and a pair of benches litter the center of the room. Broken crockery is scattered about, along with chunks of food.
With his attention firmly on the door, Thwack is almost trance-like and doesn't hear the conversation. When everyone begins to head for the door, he rises. "Ah, we not stay here?... OK." Without further clarification he jumps to his feet. "We go get more foods?" He gives Qivys an up-down glance to ensure the dwarf is not covered in rodents again. "You look tired Grumpy, Thwack gonna make sure you no get covered in rats's again." He follows Qivys closely, a step behind and to the side. His instinct is to creep around searching the various rooms, but his desire to show he is a kobold of his word keeps him by Qivys' side.
Boko hears nothing but the pounding storm outside.
Continuing on, the next set of double doors is badly damaged. Inside is a relatively small entry room. The main front doors - barricaded - lay ahead.
Pieces of broken planking and debris reinforce the damaged north doors. Bloodstains spatter the floor and walls. A twisted padlock lies at the foot of the north doors, and the south doors have been nearly ripped from their hinges. Arrow slits are visible in the east wall, shrouded by cobwebs. The west wall displays patches where similar arrow slits have been bricked over.
”Do you think the side rooms beyond the arrow slots are accessible from a secret door, or perhaps from another level?” asks Gerrard, considering what he has seen so far of the layout of this level.
He takes his glowing rapier and pushes the tip of it through the cobwebs to try and shed light into the side room beyond.
