Meanwhile, Dwal hears the distant booming roar offshore, even from his position in the cultist guardroom. But then he hears something new – a human shrieking in pain and terror, somewhere nearby, in the direction of the stairwell.
Boko, readied for the unlikely scenario where an ogre makes it past the pit, is almost unready for not only the ogre zombie to realize there is a pit but even more unlikely, the huge, lumbering oafs to all manage to find purchase on the tiny lip of the non-trapdoor portion of the hallway. Are they turning two-dimensional? What poise! What grace! She tries to remedy the situation by timing and aiming her pounce at the lead ogre just as it gets past the trapdoor and gets to the rubble. The attack, claws-first is intended to primarily deposit the full weight and momentum of the predator directly onto the chest of the ogre and then using the attack to bounce straight back over the rubble to safety and ideally causing the ogre to fall backwards onto the trapdoor.

Bokotiger pounces, her claws easily finding purchase on this monstrous lumbering corpse. Caught off-guard, the massive thing struggles to avoid falling into the pit. DC 13 Strength check:5
Behind the smaller ogres can now be seen a fourth figure – a living crystal minotaur. The large, crudely carved crystal minotaur statue has become animated and joined the battle (Dash). (The other three still have an attack this turn - I will wait until Boko decides how to proceed with the rebound. But somebody is getting bashed with the massive ogre's morningstar...)

Meanwhile, Dwal rushes back out into the cellar. The room is how he left it. "What's happening?" shouts Bayleaf from behind the barricaded door. The shrieks of pain and terror continue outside the cellar. Bounding up the cellar stairs into the dark, spitting rain, Dwal spots a massive bird – or, rather, a thing with the body and wings of a bird of prey with the head of a stag. It is massive - maybe 10 or 12 feet long with a huge wingspan. It perches on the top of a stunted tree maybe forty or fifty feet from the cellar entrance, grasping a human in its claws. As Dwal watches, it pecks the human's heart clear from its chest and swallows it, dropping the lifeless body into the scrub. It spots Dwal immediately and takes to the air. The low roar continues from the west.
Seeing the beast, Dwal retreat steps back down the stairs. Once at the bottom Dwal will turn and take a fast pace and go through the entrance to the other part of this temple. "I wouldn't go outside if'n I was you." Dwal calls to Bayleaf as he goes by.
Dwal will make his way to the other party members.

Peri:
"Well that didn't go as planned!" He draws a pair of darts from his belt and flings them at the ogre that Gerrard hit, behind the big one. Dart #1: 26 for 6 Dart #2: 25 for 2
"Let's get back to the corner!"he yells as he runs past the others into the south hall.

Kei
The ogre covered the last few feet quicker than he'd anticipated and was now in Gerrard's face. "Well, that won't do" he mutters the arcane words needed to send a blast of pure [Tooltip Not Found] straight at the ogres face. "I don't think those darts drove in far end. Let's see if I can help with that." And with his last word the energy streaks from his outstretched hand towards the ogre. Whether his blast hits or not he drops back into the western hall. Careful not to fall into the pit, he jumps to the other side and waits at the edge.
Kei fires a bolt of energy at the charging dead ogre, easily hitting it. (It's bloated body is hard to miss.) It continues to fall apart, but its malicious intent is uncurbed as it prepares to round the corner.
Gerrard (in melee range of the big ogre) and Boko may act next.
Dropping his bow and dodging the massively strong blow from the undead Ogre, Gerrard draws his blades and attempts to perforate the large ogre undead before him.
He hopes it will fall, but even if it does not, he heads down the hallway towards his prescribed spot for the defensive stand (I think Dwal is in it right now, but it is more than 30’ away anyway).
Magic Rapier: Attack: 25 Damage: 6
Magic Rapier: Attack: 14 Damage: 6
Main Gauche: Attack: 27 Damage: 10
(If luck is not with him and he is struck by an AOO, Gerrard will attempt to parry).
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Gerrard Feldren - Human Noble in Ghosts of Saltmarsh
Kerric Brightblade - Elven Warrior in "Apocalypse"
With three hits of his blades, Gerrard manages to (just) take down this lumbering monstrosity before it is able to strike again. It collapses in the hallway, and Gerrard retreats to the south.
(Does Boko want to attack one of the smaller ogres, instead?)

Bokotiger bounds around the corner, and then charges the smaller ogre on the right. She hits, tearing it up badly. DC 13 Strength Save: 12
...but it holds its ground. It's stronger than it looks. It also smells terrible.
The two dead ogres return the attacks:
Dead ogre #1 Bite Attack vs Bokotiger: 21 Hit: 8 piercing damage.
Dead ogre #2 Claws Attack vs Bokotiger: 8 Hit: 13 slashing damage, and Boko must succeed on a DC 10 Constitution saving throw or be paralyzed for 1 minute.

The crystal statue, too, advances to the edge of the trapdoor. Intelligence check: 18
...but this construct, too, seems well aware of the dangers of the trap door. It remains on the edge of the pit, behind the two ogres, holding any attacks.
Kei and Peri may act next.
(Dwal initiative: 8 in case he chooses to join the fray.)

Peri:
"Oh for -- We had a plan!" Annoyed that no one seems to be following the plan -- especially the stupid ogres! -- Peri bounces to the west wall and moves up to the corner so that he can see the big beasts trying to maul Bokotiger. She seems to be holding her own, so he decides to take on the big crystal art project. He fires an eldritch blast into it: EB #1: [roll]1d20+5[/roll] for 4 force damage EB #2: [roll]1d20+5[/roll] for 6 force damage
He withdraws 20' back down the south tunnel on the off chance the others decide to join him.
Peri's two beams hit the crystal statue with a spectacular spray of glass shards. His attack deeply damaged the arcane construct. Nevertheless, it advances.
Kei is up next, followed by Gerrard, Boko, and Dwal.
Dwal rounds the corner and lets out a sigh. Shaking his head he holds up his holy symbol and says "Magic protect ya" casting Bless using his last 2nd level slot and Blessing the party save himself.
Meanwhile, Dwal hears the distant booming roar offshore, even from his position in the cultist guardroom. But then he hears something new – a human shrieking in pain and terror, somewhere nearby, in the direction of the stairwell.
Dwal races out to see what is going on. He will be cautious. First he will check on the "prisoners" and if they are ok he will ask:
"Where did that come from?"
If it does come from the stairwell and the prisoners are not involved Dwal will move closer to the entrance to try and get a look at what is going on.

As Bokotiger retreats, the ogre zombie strikes out at her with its morningstar.
Morningstar Attack vs. Bokotiger: 19 Hit: 9 bludgeoning damage.
It then steps forward and goes after Gerrard with another swipe of its weapon:
Morningstar Attack vs. Gerrard: 14 Hit: 12 bludgeoning damage.
The other ogres and the crystal statue are effectively blocked by their bulky leader, and do not attack.

Both of Peri's darts strike the wounded ogre in the back in the face. It doesn't look like it's holding together well. Peri retreats.

(I hope to have an updated map up sometime tomorrow. Still on the road.)

Pounce claw attack: 9 Damage: 10
BA Bite Attack: 8 Damage: 12 another roll for if prone and adv: 17
