Suddenly flinching from the rope like it is a dangerous water snake or questing tentacle, Gerrard's body language shifts for a moment and he grabs the rope and begins swimming rapidly at the boat and any who have fallen out of it.

The little boat pitches wildly, sending Dwal flying into the surf. Water floods the little vessel. It's not in immediate danger of sinking (not sure about Dwal) but the boat will need to be bailed out before it can make much more forward progress. Gerrard seems to come to his senses, at least temporarily, and pulls himself back toward the boat.
Boko regroups with Kei, and they begin to catch up to the boat (but have not arrived yet).
Swimming strongly towards the boat, Gerrard diverts towards Dwal when he sees the dwarf go overboard. With rope in tow, he moves to aid his friend in getting back into the boat.

The wave passes; Boko and Kei return to the boat, just as Gerrard helps Dwal back into the little vessel. Peri continues bailing it out, even as they remain stationary with the sail loudly luffing in the gusty wind. Gerrard's confusion seems to have passed, as well. The water remains black and rough, but the monster does not reappear. The island is little more than a small, bleak pile of stones above the water now. The waves are breaking clear over it.
The boat is being slowly dragged through the waves like a drugged sow, and the gusts threaten to lean her over enough to swamp her the rest of the way. Peri ties off the rope for Gerrard and lowers the sail with a curse. He searches for something to bail with, but the best he can find is a couple of old sacks. He again summons his unseen servant but this time, rather than using it to detect traps, he gives it one of the sacks and sets it to bailing. "Get back in here, you fools! You'll freeze to death before you can swim all the way to Saltmarsh!" He can be heard grumbling about dwarves and boats and wrong-headed nobles as he sloshes water over the side.
After helping Dwal back into the boat and clambering in himself, Gerrard sets about doing his part with the bailing. He works mechanically, without a word, his expression unreadable.

Exhausted, Kei clambers back into the boat. "Well, that was unexpected" he almost laughs as he catches his breath. "Seems old Peleg was just a tool to trick unsuspecting fools into letting that thing free. Probably under the darn things control the whole time." He seems very casual about the whole thing, much to Boko's disgust.
At the thought of Boko clobbering him whilst shapeshifted into an ape or such he turns to her "Thank you for the help. Don't know how long this" he touches his hat "lasts for." He slumps in the boat to catch his breath, chuckling every now and then.
All is quiet, or as quiet as it can be in a tumultuous post-storm ocean. The wind remains gusty, the swells large. You soon lose sight of what's left of the island. Everyone and everything is soaking wet, and everyone except Boko is cold to the bone. The monster remains unaccounted for.
As soon as the water level in the boat is low enough that it's no longer in danger of being swamped Peri hoists the sail and sets the downwind run to Saltmarsh. Prisoners be damned, he's ready to get back to a warm, dry room, a hot meal, and enough ale to forget releasing some terrifying sea-beast into the deeps. "Rocks're gonna be a navigation hazard; have to let someone know..." he mutters to himself. Better to think on a practical problem he can face rather than the colossal screwup that came of their noble intentions.
Focusing single-mindedly on the bailing, Gerrard feels too numb to think or engage the others in conversation as they head towards whatever destination Peri has chosen for them.
Unbidden, thoughts came to his mind as he worked…”It was my fault. I pushed hard to help the old man who helped us and simplistically trusted the magic would do what he said it would do without consulting with someone wiser and more knowledgeable than I on the possible ramifications. Any death or destruction caused by that creature is my fault…”
He thrusts the dark thoughts away and bails, praying to whatever gods he can think of that the colossal sea creature would stay in the deeps forevermore and not trouble those living above the surface of the water or in the shallows below it. He knows what he must do, but for now, he just bails.

Dwal, once back into the boat, helps Gerrard back in. He busies himself trying to help bail the water from the sinking vessel.
"Gerard." he says. "Best put that fan ta some use and get us to tha closest shore so'in we can get our barin's back an' sort out what has ta be done next."
Where he can Dwal will cast spells to help with the bailing work, using Prestidigitation and Control Flames to help with the process. He will help Kei and Boko back into the boat when they climb in.
For Control Flames Dwal will create a flame and control/direct it to dry what he can out, if needed, the same with Prestidigitation
Boko gets Kei back into the boat and checks that everyone else is aboard. She pauses at the surface and catches what Kei chuckles at her, and seems about to shift back but then just disappears underwater. Unprepared to converse just yet. She assists getting the boat oriented and stable from below and then does some circuits of it to “patrol” and watch for any movement below. She doesn’t have much more time left in this form however and once they are safely underway, she does return to the boat and shifts back. She climbs aboard, red bottle in hand. She sits back and helps Peri with the tiller or the lines, whatever he wishes. But it’s half-hearted, and she focuses mainly on the red bottle, looking at it more closely with her goggles and tries to see if anything is inscribed on it. She also looks to see if it is filled or empty but she holds off on uncorking it. No need in risking another disaster.
Gerrard wordlessly hands over the Wind Fan to Dwal, but he keeps bailing himself. Dwal likely knows that the fan, having already been used once today, risks destruction if it is used again.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dwal doesn't take the fan. He looks from the fan to Gerrard then back.
"Ya ain't curlin' up in a ball and cryin' yerself ta sleep just yet." he says sternly. "We got work ta do ta get back ta Saltmarsh and ta figure out what we just let go in ta tha world." Dwal pauses for just a moment then says. "An why it was caged up under that island."
Dwal will continue to bail then take up an oar, if the wind is not helping.
"Keep tha coarse Peri." he calls out if the sails are working. "We need ta make landfall as soon as we can."
Throughout all of this Dwal searches his memory to try and place the creature and any history about it.
Being on the downhill run means there isn't much work or skill needed to keep them cutting briskly through the waves toward Saltmarsh. This unfortunately means Peri has nothing to really distract him from his brooding. Should be singin' songs and lookin' forward to a victorious return, but here we are slinkin' home... He watches the sack seemingly emptying the boat of its own accord. Got a barrel full of coin, rousted out the cultists from that island, but all that matters is that beast we turned loose on the seas. "You don't reckon maybe that thing was good, do you? I mean, there was a whole buncha undead things guardin' the key to keep anyone from lettin' it out. Maybe it's Procan's guard dog or somethin'? Maybe it's on its way to the bottom of the ocean to clear out those sahuagin for us?" He doesn't really believe this, but maybe one of the others will convince him. Otherwise it was a real wet blanket on their victory.
