"Disablin' the net is easy if one of us can get to it without bein' seen. It's held up by a rope that they'll either untie or cut to drop it, right? So if the rope doesn't go, neither does the net. It's just a matter of findin' the pulley the rope goes over and tyin' the runnin' end to the standin' end with a bit of string." He demonstrates by holding his spear out to represent the pulley and using his other hand to represent the rope, clamping it around the spear shaft. "Doesn't have to be strong string 'cuz it's not holdin' up the weight, just holdin' the rope to itself. We do it all the time aboard ship, if we don't have a line with an eye ready to hand."
"I don't know how we'd do anythin' to the gate though. Simple enough to jam up the gears -- you don't need to know exactly how a thing works to make it stop workin' -- but if they raise and lower it regularly they're gonna know it's broken. And it sounds like it's normally down and they only raise it to let people through. We'd want it open to let our folk through. We could maybe find it and figure out how it works, so we can draw a map if they do send a group in through the backdoor?"
Boktopus stealthily makes her way down the long corridor, around the bend, and to the next corner, where she stops. Ahead she can just make out an open stone arch leading west. She can hear several sahuagin voices within, speaking conversationally in a language she does not comprehend.
Boctopus will proceed forward to just behind the apex of the arch, on the ceiling, blending into the stone color, and just barely peek into the room.
Boko makes out a row of coffers set against the north walls, their lids closed. But she still can't make out the sahuagin in the dark. There are at least three or four in here, based on the voices and the noise. (Venturing any closer into the room will require a new stealth check.)
"I can make you unseen." Kei offers flatly as if it should be common knowledge. "You have the most experience with rope work, makes sense you should go".
Bokotopus glides along the ceiling, hugging a seam in the alien architecture of this place.
A set of stairs rises along the east wall. A swaying mass of seaweed fills the southern side of the room. A large group of sahuagin warriors gather near the center of the chamber. A hunched sahuagin floats near the bottom of the stairs, its dark green robes waving gently in the water.
There are at least eight sahuagin here. Four are brutes carrying warhammers. The one doing most of the talking has a spear and an air of authority. Two have glaives and a long, scaly lure that extends from their foreheads. One near the bottom of the stairs is unarmed. You can't see the west side of the room.
Boktopus slips into the seaweed beds to the south, unnoticed. The seaweed grows from the floor and rises through the water to a height of seven feet or more (but not quite to the ceiling), and is otherwise empty. (An area occupied by a seaweed bed is heavily obscured.)
Skirting behind the coffers on the south, she is able to see the far west wall, and another archway leading south. She can slip through the arch south if she chooses, but if she wants to see the northwest part of the room, that will require another stealth check to get around the sahuagin. (She may retrace her steps without another check.)
Boktopus peeks into the room to the south. Inside are two stone racks run the length of this room, forming aisles. The racks hold spears, tridents, and warhammers.
She retraces her steps (steps?) back to the party, just ducking a bit down the southern hallway to confirm her suspicions that it leads to more gladiatorial shouting.
Then she'll come back to the party, shift back into herself back in the prison room, and give then a quiet, detailed briefing of what she saw. "They are well outfitted, and organized, despite the shouting we hear down there. We could try to remove some of this threat before departing with this information, but doing so successfully, without allowing them to raise an alarm to take us, well, it seems unlikely. Should we try to explore more down here, skirting the room with the shouting masses, and see what we see? Or depart? Or depart, but not before trying to look at what we can find at the surface level entrance, gaining more information, but risking a fight? If anyone had the ability to make us seem like them, appear to be sahuagin, we might have more options. But the battle sharks, the warriors, possibly some magic users, they will see us and attack. My vote would be to disappear from here, remove ourselves from their domain, go back to the surface, and see about a top floor sortie. At least the sharks would not be a factor."
We could, theoretically, depart through the eel room and close the door behind us, slip through the crack, remove the block and tackle, and then disappear, right? They'd notice their living captives were gone, but not immediately guess how and why?
”I think it is worth the effort to sabotage the net if we think we can do that undetected first, then, yes, I think leaving this level with as little trace as possible should work. Hopefully they may blame the prisoner’s mysterious escape on their inattention during the assembly—if we are careful to leave no other clues,” responds Gerrard.
”After that, recon at the main entrance seems like a good idea,” he adds, not mentioning how tired he is growing of the cold, dark embrace of the sea in these tunnels.

"I agree that coming in from the surface level is a good idea, but really what have we found here? Not much. We haven't even seen this net trap nor the gate mechanism." He sounds quite frustrated. "Basically all we've done is potentially raised their suspicions by releasing some captives."
Boko explores the hallway to the south, confirming her suspicion that there is indeed a third entrance to the arena, and then returns to the party.
Borgas clarifies that the room with the net and gate is past the arena in the southeast; he knows nothing of the room with the seaweed, stairs, and armory, although he recalls patches of similar seaweed in the barracks to the south he was dragged through.

"Master Kei, perhaps you can make Captain Fenwader invisible and he can go try to sabotage the net before we leave? We have learned some important information here, but I too hope to accomplish a bit more before we retreat and try a different approach," suggests Gerrard. "I would accompany you, but I hesitate to risk discovery with more of us trying to hide from the foe."

Gerrards suggestion makes him chuckle "That's what I've been trying to say all along." He wades over to Peri "You up for some mischief Shortstack? No running off like last time though. In fact we really should try and find a way to communicate if we're to make this a regular thing." His mind takes a tangent for a brief moment before continuing. "The crowd is getting rowdy, now might be our best bet for sneaking around. If you're ready we should go." He prepares himself by securing any items (not that he has his full kit) and holds his hand out towards the tunnel they'll be taking. "After you. I'll send us unseen as we move".

She does the same after turning left.
More long and barren stone corridors...

She goes farther down the hallway, still quietly on the ceiling…

She will peek in more to see - she’s a little iffy on the details but the net trap was supposed to be somewhere around here…

The net, Borgas explains, is in a room to the southeast, down the eastern hallway past the eastern opening to the arena that Boko most recently spied.
The crowd goes up in a roar again. Clearly something exciting just happened.
Qivys does little but serve as guard and keep aware of the party' surroundings.
