"Maybe it pulls open," says Gerrard, then realizes how stupid that sounds given that it is barricaded from the inside...."Nevermind," he says. "Master Fenwader, perhaps with the added leverage of the crowbar this will work better," Gerrard mumbles, taking the tool and wedging it into crack of the door near the latch.

"Looks like whoever barricaded the door knew what they were doin'. That just leaves goin' around the side to the front gate, or climbin' up and goin' in through the top. Unless you wanna give up and go back to the ketch?"
His feeling of failure begins to fade as he watches the other companions struggle to open the door. "Look like this door is broken" he quips to Peri. "Me gonna go check other door. Maybe broken doors everywhere" then in a hushed tone to Peri specifically. "Don't worry, I be quiet - like last time". He winks at the halfling in a goofy attempt at sneakiness. He heads off in the direction of the front door.
Thwack sees no other doors from the grotto. He is told there is another door on the south side, on the other side of the tall spire of rock that blocks the beach to the east (to get to it, he could try to climb up the inner edge of it next to the fortress, or clamber along the rough, rocky shore around it.) He is also told there is a main front gate on the other (north) side of the fortress. Boko also talked about climbing down out of a hole in the bell tower, and there's also the open battlement above them, that likely may have some sort of entrance into the building on the second floor.
Disappointed his efforts bore no fruit, Gerrard waits for the others to see if they have better luck elsewhere. He looks at the rope dangling from the second story opening and tries to judge how difficult it would be to climb if the other door proves impassable as well.

Armed with Boko's full description of what she knows of the fortress, Thwack decides he will try for the southern door. He approaches the rocky spire and hugs the wall. Taking his time, he attempts to round the corner. He will take to all fours or brace himself against the wall if necessary to maintain his grip whilst shuffling along.
(Athletics: 17) Thwack climbs the gap between the steep rocky spire and the edge of the fortress with reasonable ease. He is quickly at the roof level, and he now has access to the top of the pitched roof of this wing of the building. (This is the only part of the building that is one story.) He spies two windows immediately accessible from the roof. Or, he may drop back down and approach the other southern door as he originally planned.
Meanwhile, Gerrard looks at the rope Boko left behind earlier. He would still need to scramble up the side of the hill as Boko just did a moment ago (DC 10 athletics check unless another rope was left) but he judges it would be easy enough to use Boko's rope to climb up into the hole in the side of the bell tower (no roll needed.)
Qivys watches all this in a bit of wonder. He scratches his beard, shrugs his shoulders then turns and starts making his way to the staircase to the (south?) ((What rolls do I need to make again?))
Thwack pauses at the rooftop when he sees the windows. While he contemplates whether to continue to the door or not a figure rushes past him. He watches as Peri nimbly crosses the rooftop to the windows. "Yip!" His mind is made up, if it's good enough for Peri, then it's good enough for a goblin kobold, he joins Peri at the window. "What in there? We go inside here?"
Peri peers inside the second-floor window. It's a proper window, not an arrow slit. It's in good condition and reasonably well-maintained, if quite old. He can't see much inside - just a large open space - a railed landing or balcony of some sort, overlooking an interior space, with heavy crossbeams above. There are no lights nor obvious activity within. They are latched but not locked; forcing open the window would require a successful DC 10 Strength (Athletics) check.
The wind is gustier up here on the roof of the southern one-story wing. Fortunately, the second floor and peaked tile roof of the fortress still block the brunt of the gale. The rain continues to pour.
Peri tries quietly calling to the others but the noise of the storm makes this impossible. So he gives up and just yells, "I don't see anything movin' inside. If you wanna try the door I'll try this window." He plants his feet and strains to haul open the window.
((Athletics: 4 -- He's cold and wet and getting annoyed at this fortress, so If he fails he'll pull out his shortsword and smash the window.))
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Thwack
Having been in this situation many times - he wasn't an honest gatherer of treasures after all - he quickly grabs Peri's sword arm as he swings at the window pane. "You silly, Sheri." With a toothed grin he bumps Peri out of the way and jumps up onto the window sill. Bracing his back against the windiw he heaves upwards on the window.
Athletics check 18
If he passes:
The window slide open as easily as Thwacks lips do into a huge grin. "See? No have to break window"
If he fails:
"Yap!" He squeals as his back gives before the window. "OK. Now break window" he says with a deflated tone.
Thwack pops open the window before Peri goes to smash it. Inside they find they are on a railed balcony overlooking a large, vaulted chamber. The balcony stands ten feet above the floor, with heavy crossbeams above reinforcing the twenty-foot-high, slate-tiled ceiling. Here and there, missing ceiling tiles have been covered over with thatch.
Below the railing, a large, rusty metal tub and a broken wooden frame stand near the staircase. The floor downstairs shows spatters of blood and signs of a recent scuffle. Doors lead north, east, and west, a second open passage and a window lead east, the staircase leads down, and a trap door is set into the ceiling to the north.
Meanwhile, Qivys checks the exterior door to the south. He finds it neither trapped nor locked, but barricaded from within.
