I'm just going to guess what room you guys wanted to explore since nobody specified which one...
The group ventures into the southeast corner of the barracks-cellar-room. Avoiding the sign to the east marked "danger," the group proceeds through the northern door.
Unlike the previous cellar which was turned into a small barracks, this room holds comfortable furnishings and appears to be well cared for.
A comfortable-looking bed in the northwest corner has a wooden footlocker at its foot.
A small wooden table stands against the east wall, with a padded leather chair beside it. On the table, a brass three-branch candlestick with three burning candles provides the room with bright light. The candles, though not spent, are far from fresh.
Under the table is a small wooden box and an unlit bullseye latern with a movable shutter over the lens.
On a shelf above the table sit three books. In the northeast corner is a closed wooden wardrobe.
Zi turns to the group and remarks, "The accommodations in here are definitely a step above the common room we just came from. Perhaps this is Sanbalet's private quarters?"
Caspia walks over to the shelf and examines the books on the shelf. Perhaps these books will give the travelers some clues about what exactly is going on here.
While Caspia examines the books closely, Gulin quickly glances over to see if there is any interesting words or runes on the spines. He then begins to examine the footlocker and wardrobe for any traps.
"If I lived in a cellar with a bunch of cutthroats, I'd make sure no one were to touch my stuff when I weren't wantin' them to. Can't be too careful!"
Investigation: 16
If either aren't trapped, open em up and look inside.
Sanbelet's books consist of the following volumes:
Triton's Treasure; a volume of erotic poetry, fully illustrated.
Commodore Stilton's Almanac of the Tides and Currents of Saltmarsh; a naval almanac listing tide times for this area of coast around Saltmarsh
His Most Profane Eminence and His Minions; a treatise concerning the demigod Iuz and its minions.
Caspia Aspergina:
Inside the third book, His Most Profane Eminence and His Minions, is a sheet of parchment featuring a few simple words and phrases in the Common tongue and their equivalents in a second language you do not recognize. The words include "stop," "fight," "lift," and "come,"
Gulin Runehammer:
You look over footlocker and wardrobe for any traps, however, despite your initial fear that Sanbalet may have guarded his possession, everything appears perfectly safe.
Hanging inside the wardrobe is a fancy floor-length oilskin coat. Its sleeves contain numerous empty pockets and it is trimmed in iridescent green silk.
The small wooden box holds twelve candles, flint and steel, and a piece of parchment detailing a signaling system.
Gulin gathers up the bullseye lantern, the candles, and the parchment. He also takes the coat and tosses it to Angus. "Not quite my size, but perhaps we could get some use outta this."
Caspia grabs these books and the paper that was in the third volume.

"I will leave him his erotica poetry," she says with an amused smile. "The almanac may be useful and this other book and the paper in it might give us clues to what is happening down here."
She turns to her companions.
"Is there anywhere else down here that we need to explore?" she says, looking around.

"Nah, I think this room's complete. Before we poke around in the obvious danger room of danger, lets check out what was unnervin' to ya earlier, Caspia. Come, help me search."
Gulin returns to the common area, and searches the walls, looking for the sources of the drafty air.
Caspia picks up the two books, leaving the smut behind.
Tiffany, you might want to make custom items in your inventory for the two books.
Returning to the common room, Gulin immediately spots the shoddily concealed secret door behind the wash bin. Walking over and inspecting the basin, it easily moves to the side. Pressing against the wall, it rotates revealing a new room. Shoulder-eight wooden bottle racks line the north and west walls here. There appear to be no intact bottles left in the racks and shattered bottles cover the floor.
Against the east wall at the foot of the stairs, rest two large metal storage bins that appear to be empty.
In the center of the room lies a human corpse clad in plate mail; a longsword lies by the corpse's right side and a large shield covers its legs.

Gulin walks over to the corpse, examining it, motioning for Caspia to follow.
Does it look like it's been dead a while?
Any notable emblems? Does he have any documents, coin purses, or other items of interest? How intact is the armor - is it something that Gulin could mend with spells and refit with smithy tools for one of our tanky ladies, or even salvage a set of half-plate from?
The corpse appears to be the remains of an adventurer. From the stench and decay it looks like it may be a few months or weeks old. The corpse appears to be infested with a swarm of rot grubs. The rot glubs look unnervingly similar to curdled milk.
Looking at the plate armor, Gulin notices that there are large gaps in the armor. The armor itself it very plain with no emblems. Gulin thinks that this might be repairable.

"Ich. Well, that's the second most disgusting thing I've dealt with today. Might be morbid, but think I can fix up his armor. Give it a good cleanin and oilin', polish it up, replace some of the chain."
He looks at Caspia or Zi, sizing them up.
"You know, think I can resize the breastplate to fit one of yer frames. Could be a nice set of plate, if you don't mind the memory of where it came from. And if not, well, might fetch a pretty penny in Saltmarsh."
He looks at the corpse again, noticing the grubs. "Well, we'll have to deal with the maggots. I suggest you stand back..."
He positions himself far away from the corpse, but with clean line of sight, and summons up a firebolt.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The firebolt blasts into a mass of the rot-grubs. The air begins to stink. Slowly the swarm ambles forwards. You are shocked by the sheer amount of maggots hiding in the dead body.
Zi sheathes her longsword. "Yuck! Keep your distance, I have seen them bring in many dead farmers who unfortunately have stumbled across rot grubs in the past, don't let them touch you!" Zi shouts to the group as she raises her hands and casts toll the dead.

Tiffany, Josh, and Andrew, you all will get to move again before the Swarms of Rot-grubs.

"One day your magical spells will kill an enemy rather than just pissing them off further," Angus says to Gulin.
Angus moves up to between the swarms (I think that's 15 ft straight up on the map) and attacks the swarm on the left, swiping his sword through them.
Attack: 25 Damage: 12
Knowing our luck this will do sweet FA and I will need to use my melee attack on the same swarm. If he kills the first swarm it will be directed to the other one. Either way, Angus stamps down on the writhing mass of rot-grubs aiming for what he assumes to be their heads.
"Ach, I said stand back lad! Don't let these things sink their little teeth into you!"
Gulin moves forward, setting his lantern down near the entrance. He then takes his hammer and slams it down on the singed-and-sliced swarm, air crackling with the overhanded blow.
Booming Blade Attack: 26 Damage: 16
Extra Damage on Move: 8
Edit: Extra Boom Crit! 3
Gulin then steps back to the wall, keeping his distance from the swarms. "The trick is, Angus, to cast Hammer."
I just assume that if something dies you guys move onto the next one.
Angus short sword expertly spears a rot grub, though the attack doesn't feel entirely effective. The foot smashing down on the ground is however. Gulin follows it up by stepping forward and cleaning up the remains of the first swarm with his hammer. The hammer is now coated in green mucus and blood.
Caspia rushes forward attacking the remaining swarm, both attacks hit, but the attacks don't feel fully effective. Rot grubs skitter out of the way as her blades crash down cutting them apart. The remaining swarm of rot grubs regroup and begin crawling up Caspia's boots.
Swarm of Rot Grubs Bites Attack: Attack: 7 Damage: 0
However, they are unable to find Caspia's exposed legs before Caspia knocks them off of her boots.
Zi shouts as she rummages in her bag, "Don't let them burrow into you! Only flame will remove them if they do," moments later she removes a candle from her bag. Zi then casts Toll the Dead.
Swarm of Rot Grubs Wisdom Saving Throw: 13
A loud bell rings in the room, but nothing happens.
Gulin's hammer once again crushes down, bug guts splatter across the room. As Gulin pulls the hammer back you can see only a single solitary rot grub remains, preparing to once again attempt to burrow into Caspia's exposed leg. Static builds in the air around the rot grub.
