Ash enters the alchemist to browse its wares. "Hmmm....I'll take that last potion that Laurentia has kindly left for me," he states, holding it up to smell. "Mmm...smells spicy. And this one looks like it could make one's breath go aflame."
Making his way out to the trader, he says: "What an exquisite necklace you have there. 480 gold though? Sir and or madam, it seems to be missing a bead! Surely, you must be joking. How much is it, really?"

Stilgar goes from vendor to vendor purchasing various goods making sure to haggle relentlessly over every price(studded leather, 60 arrows, 100ft of rope, 100ft of wire, a shovel, disguise kit, and a component pouch)

Stilgar summons his mage hand before approaching the misc trader and seemingly peruses the goods as he casually checks for anti theft securities.
Ash asks the trader and he pulls him in and whispers "Well truth be told, it was given to me after the last user broke a bead by dropping and blowin' himself up. Obviously he didn't give to me but hey at least it is not cursed. 400 and it is yours."
Stilgar manages to persuade nobody to help him out. In fact, he almost got charged more a few times just for being a nuisance. As he investigates the cart, the bag of holding and the cloak are protected by some pretty nasty trap magic. He is glad he checked before he snatched. The scrolls seem to be relatively unprotected and are just sitting in a lonely basket near the wagon. The necklace is currently being held by Ash and he is unable to check it for traps.
stilgar curses under his breath. i imagin this merchent has been burned before. i might be able to disable the traps, but this is neither the time or the place
...these scrolls on the other hand...
Stilgar moves his mage hand next to the scrolls, ready to make a play. he confirms that Ash is in position and gives him the que.
"Well if that's the case..." Ash starts to say, before noticing the regular signal from Stilgar. Using Prestidigitation, Ash creates an odor of smoke from a flame while still holding on to the necklace. "My god, sir. Do you smell something burning? Are you sure that's all there is to these?" he asks, backing away quickly from the cart in the direction opposite of Stilgar's work area.

As the merchant becomes focused on Ash’s misdirection, Stilgar uses the mage hand to swipe the bundle of scrolls. With a twirl of his finger and a snap, an illusion of the stolen goods reappear now just a pile of smoldering ashes set ablaze where the scrolls once stood.
“my gods! what an unfortunate mishap...even scribed magic can become volatile when mishandled...”

The trader fumes at the sight of the ignited scrolls. Turning to Ash he said "What have you done to my scrolls? Did that cursed necklace burn something again? Hurry and give me my gold so I can feed my family back in Korsil."
"Is that a demand, sir? We could have all died here. You're lucky I'm willing to take this off your hands at all! Look, I know how much trouble this must be for your family though. Perhaps I could do you a favor by taking this hazard off of you if you could do one for us? I notice you have a particular bag there. Surely you've had trouble selling such a thing at that price..."
"Yes this bag has been with me for a while now but after the a scrolls combusted and me giving you a discount on the necklace, I'm gonna be cut real short once I get back to the trading company. The lowest I could do is 2300g"
Laurentia comes back from perusing other vendors to talk with Ash about if they can pile together enough gold. " I still have my 900, though honestly, I was hoping to not need all of it, but I can cast Goodberry to keep myself satiated if I need to."
stilgar palms his hands over his face as he overhears ash bargaining with the target of their most recent scam...
”never gonna learn...take the coin and run”
he begrudgingly makes his way back to his partner and gives him a small pouch of gold(800g). growing up with nothing has made it difficult for the rogue to part ways with such a handsome pile of gold.
Ash completes his purchase of both the necklace and bag of holding. He shakes the vendor's hand and closes his eyes while making a sympathetic gesture. "May the gods be with you in these hard times."
Ash brushes his hand off on his robe while returning to his party. Placing his arm around Stiglar, he says, "What a day to still be alive!" From his free hand, he places the bag of holding into his partner's hands. "Think of all the gold we'll make back after filling this baby up." he whispers.
"Please, Darrimus. One would think that you would have gotten used to these acts by now. Do you see this bag!? It's magic! ...And Laurentia, don't be afraid to ask for your fair share. Always so modest."
Ash fans out the scrolls to show her if there is anything of interest.
"We should set our sights on the next task at hand. Never a dull moment..."
Ash's expression changes slightly as he looks up towards the morning sky. Somehow he feels that this time will be different.
" Oh Ash, she winks. Knows me so well." She pats Darrimus on the back. " Don't worry about them, there will be plenty of time for worry later young man. We were just getting some supplies for the journey. " She leaves him and joins Ash at the table. " I think you are right, this will be quite different. We best plan how we want to go about this. " She motions for everyone to sit down." We should all contribute. "

The group finishes their shopping and impoverishing the traveling merchants of the land. They then prepare themselves for the trip to the swamp. According to the map given to them by Krush, they should be able to arrive in about four days if they take the roads, but if they so decide, they can cut their time in half by taking the root over the mountain named the Sunless Peaks, named due to the top being always covered by fog and clouds. Melcher did say that he would like to meet back in 14 days, but the choice of travel is up to the group.
Darrimus's eyes light up with delight at seeing the Sentinel Shield.
"I will take the Sentinel Shield for 600 gold please."
Darrimus turns to his druid friend.
"I don't think we have enough yet but I can contribute 300g to the bag fund."

Laurentia gives Stilgar a high five when she sees him next. "If you need any help with those, I'm always available." She winks at him.

Stilgar grins from ear to ear immediately forgetting about the spent coin.
”haha! were going to need another bag just to haul around our earnings!!”
Stilgar hands over the stolen scrolls. He knows they are of better use in the hands of his companions.
”Lets hit the tavern before we depart! Im curious to see if the barkeep will notice a missing barrel of ale or two!
Stilgar eyes the bag enthusiastically
Darrimus looks at the stolen scrolls and puts his hand on his forehead.
"Be glad I am a Paladin of Tempus and not one of the more strict gods."
Stilgar smile at Darrimus
”ya the deal the merchant gave us was practically a STEAL! Are there any limits to Ash’s golden tongue?”
