Balthazar has Devil's sight from his Warlock invocations. This means he can see through darkness out to 120 feet as if it were normal, even magical darkness. He will jump out and see what is causing the horses to stop.
"I think mayhaps we should rest up for a bit, set a watch," says Kront'al. "At least for four hours as the horses are tired." He looks at the surroundings, anywhere nearby that is defensively better than just stopping in the middle of the road?

Balthazar says "Looks like it is time to make camp." He starts to take the horses out of their harnesses and brings them off the rode and ties them to a tree. He will then begin to make camp.
Kront'al looks at what is around and tries to get the carriage in as defensive position as possible, with help of course. "I'll take the first watch, any wish to stand with me?"

In the morning, Reese and Snollic didn't show up until shortly after you woke up. The road is clear and the day is grey and cloudy skys, looking like the gods would strike wrath on the world.
Balthazar gathers his things from the night and starts hitching up the horses (I assume they are looking much better now.) He notices the growing relationship between Snollic and Reese and hopes this team can help her keep control of the kingdom.
"Indeed, let us sally forth and greet the day as it justly deserves," says Kront"al. This time he'll ride atop the carriage so as to have a better lookout spot.

Nothing unusual is in sight, yet you notice something in that grey and cloudy sky: Its about to rain.
Balthazar with the others loads the carriage and starts them moving "Looks like we should try to find our way back to civilization."
