"Makes sense. Yes, let's go home, then scout out the Dead 3 cultists tomorrow. Maybe after that, we can scout out the pirate ship."
Kestrell takes one of the piles of gold and silver, sheaths the new dagger, and picks up a cutlass and a light crossbow. "Should we sell these and the necklaces on the way back? Anyone know where?"
On their way out of the tavern and back towards Mendax's temple apartment, he thinks about Kes's question about who they could fence the weapons and jewelry they've acquired.
Kes, Alan takes the two gold prices with a difficult to read expression on his face. After a moment he nods and begins pouring ales. Fairly and Will wish you well as you leave, “You can find us here if you’re looking for a drink, friends.” Says Fairly as Will raises a glass. The four of you make your way out of the Elfsong and back towards Mendax’s rooms at the temple of Lathander. You note a small arms and armor shop called The Mithril Hammer a block over from the temple where you can sell your surplus weapons in the morning. Mendax opens the door to his rooms and you all file in. No you can RP or do anything you like before going to sleep.
Upon entering his home, Mendax walks over and places his war hammer on the mantle over his small fireplace. He then grabs some twigs and wood and places them in his fireplace and using his tinderbox lights the fireplace. He then goes back to his kitchenette area, grabs a steel kettle, goes back outside to the water-pump and pumps some water into the kettle, then comes back and places the kettle on a hook above the burning fire in the fireplace. As the kettle is steaming, Mendax goes back into the kitchenette and rummages around until he comes back with two metal balls with holes in them and inside the balls are fresh black tea leaves. By now the steam is whistling out of the kettle and Mendax takes it away from the fire and pours the hot water into two cups and then places a metal ball in each cup and then serves one to Vin and takes the other one with him and sits in his chair and sighs.
Con is silent as they walk through the streets. He makes sure that his Flaming Fist symbol is clearly visible, in order to ward of trouble, or so he hopes. When they reach Mendax's rooms, he heads to the place set aside for him to sleep, drops his stuff on the ground, and starts to inspect his many, many wounds. It's been a while since he's been so close to death, not since Graddik's boys kicked him half to death. He makes a small, grim smile of satisfaction at the thought that both Graddik and Dead-Eye are dead, and Dead-Eye at his own hand. Maybe I should've taken a trophy,he mutters quietly, not really caring if anyone is around to listen. Maybe next time.
He will keep apart from the others if they'll let him - he's not in a talking mood. Before he sleeps, he goes outside, away from Lathander's temple just a bit, and says a hesitant prayer. Then he heads off to bed and rest.
Mendax, the tea begins to soothe your frayed nerves as you let your guard down a bit in your home where you feel safe.
Con, there is no response to your quickly uttered prayer, but you wonder to yourself, did the night grow a bit more still? The air a bit more chill? You cannot say.
As soon as they make it back into the apartment, Vin gathers some medical supplies and collapses into her usual chair by the fire, undoes her bodice and removes the now blood-soaked, hastily applied bandages from underneath. She busies herself with cleaning and dressing the wound, reapplying bandages to it. As she sees Con inspecting his wounds, she opens her mouth to ask if he'd like help getting patched up, but something she sees in his face stops her.
Vin accepts the tea gratefully from Mendax, offering a weak smile in return, and relaxes back in her chair with a deep sigh, closing her eyes and breathing in the soothing aroma of the hot tea.
As they settle in Kestrell wants to talk. "I feel real bad about Olorich. He shouldn't have been there. Those pirates man, what the hell? Could we have done something differently? I don't know. I'm not afraid to kill something or someone who needs it. But poor Olorich."
Kestrell will turn in for the night as well. "Mendax, thanks for healing me when that bastard shot me and took me down. I assume it was you, but thanks."
While everyone goes about their business Mendax relaxes in his chair and sips his tea. He has an urge to grab his pouch of tobacco and papers in his room, but today's experience tires him too much to get up from his seat.
Listening to Kes he responds to his concerns, "Olorich was there for a reason. Either the gods demanded it or he decided on his own free will to help us in our endeavor. His life and the plays he'll no longer write will be sorely missed, but let's not forget that his sacrifice did not come in vain and we should think about this as we venture out tomorrow to finish our job that... that we found ourselves in." Mendax then thinks about what he just said and reflects on his comments and ponders if he and his friends are here because of their choices or if the gods sent them on this path, and if so what does Lathander want from Mendax. But these thoughts go through his mind swiftly and he's back in the company of his friends as he sips his tea.
"That's a good point Mendax. Well thought out and reasoned, as usual. So, what's the plan for tomorrow? We stop by the Mithril Hammer and then go scout out the place Tarina told us about?"
(Feel free to RP the rest of the night, but in the interest of moving things forward...) The night goes on and everyone eventually gets some rest. You wake up in the morning to the sounds of bells coming from the temple proper. It is early morning and you have plenty of time to head to the Mithril Hammer or down to the Bathhouse. What would you like to do?
Kestrell wakes, and greets the others. "Let's get some breakfast and then head over to the Mithril Hammer. I need some flapjacks with lots of butter and syrup. And some coffee."
Mendax awakes before the first light of dawn and makes his way over to the temple where he is greeted in silence by the monks who manage the Lathander temple. Walking through the courtyard, into the temple's side entrance, down the hallway passing the cells where the monks make residence in meager rooms, and into a small prayer room filled with incense smoke. Mendax walks over lights a candle in the name of Oloric and Lathander and then goes over and kneels and prays to Lathander. He thinks of Vin, Con, and Kes and prays that Lathander keeps a watch over them during today's venture. When he finishes praying Mendax takes one of his empty vials and fills it with Holy Water and then heads back to his apartment.
Back in the apartment, he moves about silent like a mouse to not wake his friends and starts to make the fire in the fireplace and gets some tea ready. When he sees Kes gets up he offers the lad some tea to hold him over before lunch. "How are we feeling this morning? Those wounds aren't bothering you?"
Mendax nods at Con and slings his warhammer onto his right shoulder. “Let’s go home then.”

History: 10
Mendax knows that merchants who ask too many questions in Baldur’s Gate don’t stay open long... you could sell the stuff anywhere.
And Kes, we both roll and take the higher, here’s hoping! 3 well, it’s a little better!
(Ha! I'll take it!)
As they leave the tavern, Kestrell leaves two gold with the barkeep and says "Drinks for everyone as long as this lasts in memory of Oloric."
HP roll (we're rolling, not doing automatic?): 5 (plus 4 from CON)
Con hp 8 there we go!
