((Nice!)) Fairly snaps his fingers good naturedly âFine dicing, Miss Vin, fine dicing indeed!â He splits the pot giving you the extra copper. âMay I ask what brings a lady like yourself into an establishment like this?â
Kes, Oloric strokes his chin in consideration âI have been to Elturel, a shining city of a bit tight laced... Dead-Eye? No Iâm afraid Iâve never heard of him. Who is he?â
"Oh, just someone that is supposed to be coming here looking for Tarina."
Kestrell chuckles at the confusion. "Oh, you were asking about Dead-Eye. Yes, he is a pirate, or so I've heard. Do you have any experience fighting pirates?"
Oloric makes shrugs his shoulders and grimaces self deprecatingly âAll my combat experience has been on stage, Iâm afraid. Is he coming here looking for trouble? Do you expect a fight?â
Vin smiles and begins toying with the copper piece on the table. "Thank you, Mr. Fairly. My companions and I simply came here looking for an acquaintance; they seem to be in a spot of trouble, so we're just sticking around for a day or two to see if we can't help. True, this is not my typical scene, but it's a... quaint establishment. Worth the rougher edges to hear that elf-song, for sure."
Kestrell also lowers his voice. "No, Tarina seems to be a card player. And she's a female."
If Con hears this (Perception14), he will pick up something small - half a crust of bread or a scrunched up piece of parchment from nearby, and throw it at the back of Kes' head. (Sleight of Hand to avoid Kes noticing: 18)
Kes Oloric nods and says âIndeed, pirates are known for their casual view of violence. So tell me, Kestrell, what is it that you do? You have the air of a performer about you.â
Vin, Fairly shakes his head and Will blows out a sigh before saying âTrouble is no stranger around these parts, Iâm afraid. Youâve got to keep your wits about you. Fairly has had to fix me up a couple times when I didnât. I hope your friend isnât in too much trouble.â
Con you are unable to make out what Kes and Oloric are speaking about over the din of the common room.

"Well, I'm not from around these parts, just studying at the Academy. Learning some magic and some music, the ways of the bard, so to speak. Something you might be familiar in, yes?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Mendax stays out of the game and instead keeps an eye out still. He even heads downstairs and walks around the crowd, looking for anything devious. He'll even head outside and walk around the tavern and look about the people, keeping his Fist badge in his pocket, but ready to pull it out if things hit the fan.
Kes, Oloric sits up excitedly âA bard? Truly? Thatâs wonderful! Yes Iâm a playwright myself, we should collaborate on something!â
Mendax, you donât notice anything out of the ordinary downstairs or around the Elfsong.
The night passes normally in the tavern. As it gets later people begin to say their goodbyes. Tarina heads to her room waving to you all as she does. You guys can set up a watch if you like but you feel relatively safe in your rooms.
Kestrell laughs, "Collaborate indeed! You just let me know, and I'll play one of your tunes that you come up with."
As Tarina goes off to bed, Kestrell turns to the rest of the party. "I think we should take turns on watch tonight, just in case. I'll take the first one."
Con accompanies Tarina to her room. Relax, ma'am, just checking for safety. He inspects the room and tests the strength of the door. He walks out and makes sure that Kes' watch post is real close to the door, so he's able to see anyone coming, and to hear any trouble in Tarina's room. Then he heads back inside. If I knew this place better, I'd suggest barricading the door, but nah. Too many possibilities - secret entrances, people coming through the window. We need easy access if we're to keep you safe. Anyways, g'night. Without asking permission, he picks a comfortable chair, turns it to face away from her bed, and settles down to sleep. Don't mind me.
Mendax watches Con go into Tarina's room. Mendax walks back downstairs and posts himself at the bar and keeps an eye on all the entrances he is able to. He also tries to get a view at Kes so he can send him a signal when something goes wrong. He takes out his light crossbow and cocks a bolt into it and then rests it on his lap. He then orders a strong black tea from the bartender and starts sipping it to keep alert.
Kestrell is taking watch upstairs, outside Tarina's room, so he can't see Mendax. If his watch passes with no issues, he will go downstairs and say "Nothing so far, Mendax. How's that tea?"
Con, Tarina laughs a bit at your boldness and turns away and goes to sleep.
The night passes quietly as the crowd thins out to only a few people drinking and dicing overnight. By dawn the place is almost empty. The sunlight comes streaming in and with it a new shift of stinkiest and gamblers. The day goes by slowly and with an eerie calm before the storm feeling for the four of you. Around sundown the regulars come back in, Will, Fairly, and Oloric among them. Tarina begins drinking and dicing with her group again.
Oloric approaches the four of you and says âThat fellow youâre expecting, Dead-Eye? I believe I saw him... he cam out of a boarding house a few streets from here... I think heâll be here soon...â

Kes, Oloric raises his eyebrows âFor Tarina, you say?â He lowers his voice âis he a pirate?â
Kestrell also lowers his voice. "No, Tarina seems to be a card player. And she's a female."
Oloric nods, âYes, I know Tarina. She plays cards but sheâs a pirate. Dead-Eye sounds like a pirate name to be sure.â
Kestrell chuckles at the confusion. "Oh, you were asking about Dead-Eye. Yes, he is a pirate, or so I've heard. Do you have any experience fighting pirates?"
