Over-confident,Con says, nodding. Good. Best make sure we don't make the same mistake.
Con heads off through the door to inspect the inn and the entrance way to the room; he's looking for a good place to stand watch, so they can be sure that Dead-Eye doesn't surprise them. Especially any alternative entrances to Tarina's room.
Tarina nods and says “Now, if that’s everything, I’ll go back to that table over there and continue fleecing those rubes. My rooms that one in the corner, I’ll be heading there after playing bones.” Tarina heads back over to her table and sits back down to enthusiastic greetings from her “friends”.
Con, lit lanterns hang from the rafters in this windowless room. Rugs cover the wooden floor and help dampen the noise from drunken patrons gathered around two large tables, eating and playing games of Baldur’s Bones. The stairs leading up from the common room are the only point of entrance.
At this point you can content yourselves however you like, talking to patrons, playing dice, however you would like to pass the time until Dead-Eye and his crew show up.

As Tarina walk out, Kestrell asks: "So, if we are to wait here indefinitely, do you have a tab that we can put some food and drink and rooms on?"
After Tarina leaves, Kestrell asks the rest of the team to come into the private room they were in with Tarina.
"Alright, since we're here for a bit, let's get a plan together. Should we just wander around this tavern, at least two of us awake at all times? And when this dead-eye fellow comes in, I'll try and talk to him. If that doesn't work and he attacks us or Tarina, we take him down?"
OOC: Persuasion for Tarina to pay for our room and board, if needed: 19
Kes, Tarina turns to look at you as she’s on her way back to the table “Yeah, just put it on my tab for now. Can’t spend my money if Dead-Eye kills me.”
No, says Con. I mean, as a distraction, sure, talk to him, kid. Whatever you fancy. But the job's to kill him, so that's what we're doing. Don't worry, it doesn't have to be you that takes the last blow. I know you're saving yourself for Howell, right?
(Con is saying this after Tarina has left the room, or when they've all left her room - he's not saying that name where she can hear him.)
Con just shakes his head in wonder, and heads off to continue his inspection. What's in the rooms next to Tarina's?
When he returns, he gathers the group together. Look, I don't see the point of us splitting up from each other or splitting up from Tarina. It's just asking for trouble. I think we stay on this floor and find a nice place to hide. Maybe in Tarina's room, maybe somewhere else. We don't want to scare him off, so he goes away and comes back with his buddies, neither.
Con, the room next to Tarina’s is the one the party can use. The one next to it is occupied. As you watch a servant comes up with a tray laden with a plate of poached fish and greens, a loaf of bread, a knife and fork, and a pitcher and glass. He sets in down in front of the door then knocks and walks back downstairs. After a moment the door opens and a scaled hand reaches out, pulls the tray inside and closes the door. You hear a click as the door is locked from within. No one seems to pay any attention to the scene and the gambling and carousing continues as normal. Around 11 you see Alan come up and go into the east room, which appears to be his personal quarters.
Observing Tarina’s table you see a man you hear Tarina refer to as Thurzug, he looks like a sailor with pale blond hair and droopy mustaches. Seated next to him is Garazae, a mean looking gnome making a coin dance across her knuckles. Rounding out the table is Traim Farseer a gregarious priest in robes of Tymora who seems to be upsetting Tarina’s win streak
Oloric makes his way upstairs and heads over to Mendax with an empty glass “Hello again, friend Mendax! How are you finding the Elfsong this evening? Quite a thing, the old girl singing out a new tune, isn’t it? First I’ve ever heard of it!”
Seated at the other table is a jovial, strong-jawed half elf with a quick smile and an earnest hafling wearing a dark vest. Their dice are sitting on the table unplayed and the two are deep in friendly conversation.
Mendax tries to find a seat that is across from Tarina's bedroom and gives Mendax line of the site on the door. He orders himself some strongly brewed tea to help keep him focused and alert. He keeps his light crossbow bolted and resting nearby and ready to be grabbed at any notice of any wrongdoing. When Oloric comes up and starts talking to him Mendax half-ass listens to the playwright while keeping most of his attention on Tarina's door and its surroundings. He also keeps an on Con and waits for his moves.
Mendax looks up and Oloric and says, "yes, wonderful to the ears. First time hearing her sing too. A voice sweet like honey-water."
Vin is lost in thought for a moment, but then mutters to herself "Well, might as well take her up on using that tab. If ever there was a time I could use a stiff drink, it's now."
Vin will head to the bar - first telling the others she'll be right back up, and asking if they want anything - and order a strong drink. While waiting for it to come she ponders what Tarina said about enlisting some of the patrons to help. She sighs to herself - realizes that's becoming a habit - then loosens her cloak so it drapes around her shoulders, and adjusts her dress to accentuate some of her better features. "Not my typical charade, but perhaps I can entice some of these folks to aid us against this Dead-Eye", she thinks to herself.
Vin will then head back upstairs with her drink, and approach the table with the jovial half-elf and his halfling friend. "Good evening, gentlemen," she begins, placing her hands on the edge of the table and leaning forward slightly. "I don't mean to interrupt, but I couldn't help but notice your dice seem to be gathering dust. Care for a friendly game?"
Mendax, Oloric doesn’t seem to be perturbed by your half listening as you sip your tea and keep an eye on Tarina.
Kes, Oloric latches onto you as he recognizes an interested listener. “An interesting question, young man! It must have something to do with Elturel’s disappearance. It must be quite powerful to be spreading ripples this far. And the Hellriders, it’s quite interesting that she mentioned them... I wonder what that could mean....”
Vin, the half-elf smiles warmly “Of course! Please have a seat! I’m Will and this is Fairly, we were discussing the song but we have come to the conclusion that we don’t know what we’re talking about, so yes! Let’s play Baldur’s Bones!”
Here‘s the rules for Baldur’s Bones. Baldur’s Bones is a popular dice game in the taverns of Baldur’s Gate. Each player requires several six-sided dice. The rules are as follows:
Each player puts the agreed ante in the pot.
Each player rolls three dice. Play then proceeds clockwise around the table, with the host of the game going last.
On their turn, a player can choose to “stand” or “roll.” If the player stands, the next player can take a turn. A player who rolls takes an additional die and rolls it. If the total of their dice exceeds 21, they “bust” and are out of the game. Otherwise they can keep rolling additional dice until they either stand or break.
After everyone has had a turn, the highest point total (excluding players who busted) wins the game and takes the pot.
Don't go too far,Con mutters to anyone who leaves the room. He finds a chair, pulls it over near the door (which he leaves ajar) inside Tarina's room, and settles down to wait. If anyone suggests he joins the gambling, they get a scowl in response.

"I don't know, but it doesn't sound good. Have you ever been to Elturel? Do you know of this Dead-Eye fellow who everyone says is coming to this tavern?"
Vin will sit gracefully, crossing her legs and flashing Will and Fairly a tentative smile. As she does so she extends her hand palm down to each of them, saying "A pleasure to meet you both. I am called Vin."
Vin gets settled in her seat and continues, "indeed, it was a beautiful song; eerie, but beautiful. Can't say I know much about it myself. Now, it's been a very long time since I've played any, but I think I can recall the rules well enough. What's the ante?"

Con, from your vantage point you can keep an eye on all goings on on the floor.
Kes, Oloric strokes his chin in consideration “I have been to Elturel, a shining city of a bit tight laced... Dead-Eye? No I’m afraid I’ve never heard of him. Who is he?”
Vin, Will continues “The ante is 5 coppers, shall we begin?”

"No, I'm not going to hurt Howell. He's made his bed and has to lie in it. And now Rachael sees how irresponsible he is."
Con just shakes his head in wonder, and heads off to continue his inspection. What's in the rooms next to Tarina's?

Seeing the food brought directly to some of the folks, he gets excited and orders a plate of dinner and another Shandy.
