“May Talos visit upon you a thousand agonies!” After shouting at the swarm of rats, Ventus plays his flute, sending another pulse of healing energy at James.

Sericea sees that most of the small rats have been dealt with, but looks down the bilge hatch with concern for her friends. She shifts around the hatch (to G4) and directs another beam of icy magic at one of the rats (GR6).
Builder manages to shishkabob another couple of rats on his daggers, further thinning the rat swarm, but it continues to hold on just a little longer. (Since they have resistance to piercing, you dealt a total of 2 damage with your attacks).
Sericea's beam of ice shoots into the water striking the large rat. While it is not enough to kill the rat outright, it does slightly encase it in ice, particularly around its legs. (The rat will have its movement speed reduced by 10' if it survives to its turn).

With an easy swing of his huge sword James is able to end the life of the rat that was causing him such pain, leaving only one other rat surviving.
The remnants of the swarm of rats continue their attempts to chew through the hard outer layer of Builder, apparently convinced that there is something worth having inside.
Attack: 19 Damage: 6
One of them seems to bite through something rather critical as Builder's left arm goes dead slack for a moment before re-engaging in the attempt to fend the rats off.

Birel takes another two swings at the rat in front of her. "Can't say that I'd like to eat rat meat, but something tells me we wont have much of a choice."

Still struggling with the covering of water between her and the rat, Birel is only able to graze its back with one of her access. In retaliation it turns and bites at her again.
Attack: 23 Damage: 4
It sinks its teeth viciously into her ankle, causing fresh blood to seep into the water.
After the large rat's attack against Birel the rest of the party is up in advance of the swarm of rats. Both enemies are looking like they are on their last legs. You guys can do it, I believe in you.

Sericea is more confident in her abilities now. If the rat swarm chewing on Builder is still alive, Sericea will fire a ray of frost at it. If not, she will descend the ladder and aim one at the rat attacking Birel.
There is another screech from the ratswarm at Ventus's magic, but now instead of rage it is mostly filled with pain. Several rats drop to the deck, bleeding from their ears and noses. The remainder scatter in various directions, attempting to finally get away from the terrible sounds.
The rat swarm is "dead", Builder if you would like you can retcon your action.
Sericea, seeing the ratswarm fall, drops down the ladder into the bilges and sends a beam of blue light at the final giant rat. Unfortunately having just come down the ladder she is slightly disoriented and the beam flies wide, striking the wall of the bilges instead, leaving a patch of fogging ice in the wood.
Varus, James, Builder, and Birel all have actions before the giant rat gets to act.

*That's frustrating...I really am sure I posted the action update. Gonna say the forum ate it. :)*
Birel slashes twice with her axes, the first biting into the rat but it manages to scurry out of the way of the second before retaliating.
Attack: 7 Damage: 5
The other rat (GR6) down in the bilges resumes its attack on James.
