Sericea thanks Ambrose and sizes up the rats on the kitchen counter. They are scrawny and soggy with filthy bilgewater, and Sericea has second thoughts about her plans for dinner. But in for a penny, in for a pound.
She picks up a chef's knife and gets started. It's not too different from skinning a rabbit, which she learned from a visiting hunter when she was a child. After a few minutes of gruesome work, she's left with some skinned rats that could almost pass for a game animal.
She showed them to Kroop, and makes a mental note not to mix up the spices this time.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Good job lass, there is a decent bit of meat on them bones after all. I think we'll be able to do something with this."
Working hard through the remainder of the afternoon, you and Ambrose are able to put together a respectable looking "beef" stew. Tasting it at the end, you wouldn't think it was made from rat if you didn't know yourself.
At bloody hour that evening two riggers are selected for rope bashes, but all of your number are passed over. As you are dismissed for grub Plugg approaches you. "Several of ye's shoulda been punished today, but you did good and quick work on those rats down in tha bilges so I gave you grace. Don't be expectin' that to happen ever agen. Slack off tomorrow and it will be double punishment!"
Evening actions are now available for the taking. Games for entertainment and betting have been set up on deck just like on other nights. Saying it as a reminder since several of you have expressed interest in getting more coin. As alluded to IC earlier the other option is to try to break into someones locker...but that could be risky. The rum rations have also been distributed...so you guys need to deal with that. I had sent a bit of arcane inspiration to Builder regarding that...so he might have something to post to resolve it for you guys before you start dealing with it one at a time. As for being watched...
This spoiler contains the names of the two party members getting extra scrutiny tonight RE rum rations and what your adjusted DC is. You can spot your tail and know if you are on the list with a DC 12 perception check of your own. Otherwise please decide what you are doing with your rum ration and make any appropriate rolls before looking in the spoiler.

When the rum is passed out Builder gets the group to gather together, then casts his spell when it appears no one is watching them, trying to cleanse the rum of its bad properties. He asks the group to help keep from letting others notice him as he casts his spell.
Birel doesn't really notice anything, but does start laughing to try and help. "Well, I'm surprised that those rats almost got the best of us. But we made it in the end, I think we're starting to get the hang of it."
Okay. We'll make it a group stealth check. Better rolls can cover for poor ones. Looking for 2 successes above DC 10 plus 1 additional success for any result below a 5. Any stealth result of natural 20 counts as 2 successes, any natural 1 counts as two failures (below 5) that need to be covered for.
Your group all clink their rum rations together in "celebration of the success" you found in the bilges. Under his breath Builder says the necessary words to remove the negative effects of the alcohol.
Without hesitation you throw back the rum, to find that it has been transformed into straight sugarcane syrup. The sickly sweet substance hits your tongue and slides down in an unpleasant way, leaving a sticky feeling in the back of your mouth and throat. As you swallow a wave of nausea hits you, your body desperately seeking permission to not keep the offensive liquid down.
Everybody make a constitution save DC 15 for me, this is considered a poison affect - so appropriate resistances would apply. On a failure you find the Nausea sticks with you and you gain the poisoned condition for the remainder of the evening (this impacts any ability checks you might make during your night time actions). On a success you fight the nausea back and suffer no ill effects from the straight syrup you just drank. On a natural one you throw up...and still gain the poisoned effect for the rest of the evening because of the stomach cramps you suffer.
Drinking sugar cane syrup instead of rum means you do not get any of the good or bad effects from the rum ration, no chance of addiction or ability damage, but also no advantage on social skills (you didn't drink the liquid courage!). But you do run the risk of being nauseated anytime you drink the stuff. Straight simple syrup concentrate does not taste good or settle well.

Birel silently orders her stomach to get over the syrup, she's had to suffer worse slop on this ship. Finished downing the syrup, she looks around for anyone playing Hog Lob, ready to start making money so she can finally have her bow back in her hands at least.
Sericea intends to mime taking a big swig of rum and acting like it went down badly, and has no trouble accomplishing this as the think syrup oozes down her throat. She narrowly avoids spitting it out all over her friends.
James holds up the cup looking at the rum now turned syrup and throws it back downing all of it in one swig. He slams his empty cup upside down and waits a few seconds before sitting back feeling fine.
Birel: After the fairly tasty beef stew is finished the crew makes a space on the middle deck for the nightly game of hog lob. Grok appears to have been selected as the master of ceremonies/bookie for the evening. She smiles as you approach her. "Good to see you agen. I see you decided to take my advice and play for yer coin. Glad to see it. So, what's yer pleasure? We have two matches selected tonight...3 men want to play a match of "5 men; one toss", best of the 5 tosses gets 1st and triple their coin in return...2nd gets double and 3rd gets their coin back as a consolation. So, if you and a friend want to join in ther's tha. Or if you just wanna go we can probably fine one moar. T'other one is Maheem wants a one-on-one best of three tosses. Additional betting available each round, gotta match the bet to stay in...best of three tosses takes the pot. Entry for both is the same, 1 gold. Which is yer preference lass?"
To plain text that for you cause the accent got away from me a bit...for Hog Lob tonight you have two choices. There will be a game of 5 characters each getting a toss with varying returns for placement. 1st gets 3 gold, 2nd gets 2 gold, 3rd gets their initial 1 gold back. Edit to add: If you want to bet more than one gold on this game it might be possible, but you would have to convince the other players to go in larger...which might require a social skill check depending on how large you want to go. There is room for up to 2 PCs in that game, but if only you jump in the 5th slot will be taken by another NPC.
Alternatively you could go head to head with Maheem in a best of three tosses with an additional chance to bet before the second and third tosses. If Maheem or you up the pot then the other would have to call to keep playing or they forfeit.
For everbody else, as mentioned there is a slot for 1 more PC in the 5 men; one toss game. Or if you guys want to do side bets with the crew you can do that too. As a player in the match Birel is not eligible to make any side bets.
