Sericea has been watching with interest, keen to see how this will play out for her band of friends. Seeing Plugg throw the hammer, she suspects things will take a turn for the worse.
She wonders if there's a way to even the odds. She looks around to see if there's a tool or piece of deck equipment that she could throw to Varus to use as a wepon.
James hangs out by the railing of the ship not really watching the fight, but does take notice of the hammer being added to the fight. Hoping that the crowd and the fight are enough to cover him as he calls Nox from his pocket dimension and summons him onto his shoulder.

James - No one seems to notice the addition of a small owl to the festivities. Indeed, no one is looking at you at all right now. You imagine once the fight is over and other more standard entertainments for the evening begin someone might take notice if Nox were still around.
Sericea - (Making it a Perception check so +1 for a result of 14). You notice a set of racked belaying pins on the starboard side near you. One of is not currently being used to hold a run-line for a sail and could be pulled free pretty easily. You can imagine a world where it could be used as a decent stand in for a club. Give me an initiative check to see where in all this fun you can manage to get it to Varus (essentially before or after his next turn).
Varus - Owlbear continues to smile through the blood that is now trickling from his broken (likely again) nose. Several of the crew members have been whipped into a frenzy of shouting, and the side bets seem to be swaying towards your favor. Meanwhile, Sandara is on the very front of the circle, waiting for an opportunity to rush in and make sure no one dies tonight, Mister Plugg standing behind her with a sneer as he watches the proceedings.
But through it all your opponent seems to be having the most fun in days, although he definitely appears to be slowing down a little (in 4e terms he is officially past bloodied now - below 50%). "You fun. You new friend. Play more!"
Reckless Attack: 25 Damage: 11
This time the hammer swings true, cracking you in the shoulder and for just a moment you feel the joint pop out of its socket before you flex and with a wet sound it pops back in. (After Resistance that is 5 damage, but wooyee critical).
There is a crack as the headbutt lands and the fractured nose goes to fully broken, a bone splinter poking oddly against the skin giving the nose a ridged appearance. Owlbear goes cross-eyed for a moment swaying there, but maintains his footing. You see great tears in his eyes regusing to fall.
"Okay new friend. Done play now. Fun. More later."
The hammer slips from his grip to the deck as he turns to go back downstairs to the middle hold, but he finds angry sailors in his way, not satisfied that the fight is over. Pressing against them they shove him back into the circle, jeering for the carnage to continue.
Owlbear puts both hands up defensively in front of him and watches you closely with his good eye to try to avoid any blows. Those great tears have now started to fall as for the first time he appears afraid.
Bonus Action: Dodge
(He is ready to be done fighting but is stuck in the ring. Based on his wobbly stance and the beating he has taken already you would guess one or two more good hits would knock him out).

Ventus pulls out his flute, and begins to play. A fast paced, but haunting melody can be heard over the din of the crowd. Channeling his magic into the music, he casts the Bane spell on Owlbear when he gets the chance, forcing any excess power that might manifest around Owlbear as a sign of the spell into the music he was using as focus of his spell.

Owlbear Save v Bane: 3
The brutish man seems unaffected by Ventus's spell although he does look up for a moment with tears in his eyes and whistles a few bars, mimicing the sound of the enchanted notes.
On her turn, if she has an opening, Sericea will grab the loose belaying pin, call out to Varus, and toss it to him. As she does, she will call out a snide remark, "Bare knuckles only, right? Here's your knuckles Varus!
Plugg is cheering and jeering with the rest of the crowd. While apparently disappointed that his brute is losing he has been swept up in the bloodlust of the moment and is shouting for a finish.
Birel - Two of your fellow swabbs, Fipps Chumlett and Jaundiced Jape turn to you, holding you back from the commotion. The portly Fipps snears at you. "The fight's still goin' though enit? Theys still in the circle. So put a coin on the result or stays out of it see?" He shoves you roughly back.
Persuasion - The onlookers are shouting for you to finish it. Owlbear is done and asking for the "play time" to stop. A club is flying towards you for you to catch and there is a hammer on the deck where Owlbear dropped it when he decided he had had enough. What does Varus do in this situation?

Missing the club, Varus's expression goes blank as he bends down for the hammer. Walking slowly towards Owlbear, he raises the weapon before swinging a vicious blow for the side of the other man's head.
Owlbear manages to block the hammer swing. "No. No more play time! You no friend!"
He rejoins the fight, swinging a fist back at Varus. The previous hesitation is gone. This is officially not playtime anymore.
Reckless Attack: 9 Damage: 6
Meanwhile the belaying pin clatters to the ground and rolls into the crowd on the far side of the circle, vanished into the crush.

Attitude adjustment for Owlbear has now been unlocked, like most of the crewmen and unlike the rest of the officers. Given this decisive moment between he and Varus his initial attitude is set to Unfriendly.

James takes note of Varus not backing down after his opponent clearly wanted to stop fighting. "He's just like the rest of those pirates who would butcher those that surrendered." He says more to himself and Nox than anyone else that is around. James looks up above the fighting ring to see if there is anywhere that can be used as a perch.

Sericea's toss flies a little low, hitting one of the crewmember's on the back of the head and causing the pin to spin in a haphazard way.
Varus has the option to attempt to catch it on his turn as a bonus action. The attempt would be a dex check, DC 15 because of the off-kilter throw.
