Brynn Athletics: 9
Event: 4
Harq You barely hear a creak as the helm begins turning with some difficulty for both of you. It eventually gets looser and can now be spun with ease. Brynn looks to you for a moment. “I need you to take control. Do you know how to steer a ship? Just make sure none of the waves can capsize us.”
Helena/Lia/Brodan As you finish blocking off the hole, a huge wave crashes into the side of the ship, knocking back the obstacles. Some of the water manages to get into the brig, and there is now a thin layer of water at your feet.
Helena looks at the pirate with disbelief before pinching the bridge of her nose. "Well, this is great. The barrels aren't good enough. What are we suppose to do now? Just throw whatever water that comes in back out?"
Harq When you take control of the helm, Brynn runs down the stairs and yells something to her crew before heading inside. You were unable to hear her over the heavy rain and thunder, but you see the crew looking at you as if they expect orders from you.
Skarhys approaches you seeming almost panicked, which may just be a first. In his usual variety of voices, he says “Was in Brynn’s quarters looking for map. Have to start going to land. A huge threat ahead.”
As he finishes his sentence, a large line of jagged rocks comes into your view, in the path of the ship. If the ship continues straight, it will take full damage from the hit. What will you do? ((I know the choice is obvious but I’m leaving it open for your creativity))
Lia/Helena/Brodan The pirate turns to Brodan and says, “You look like a wizard. Why don’t you just use some magic to fix the damage?”
Kronk You see Brynn run down the stairs towards you and her crew. She points towards Harq and yells, “I’m going belowdeck. The helmsman up there will be giving orders until I return!” She looks to you and beckons you over to her. “I might need your help. Come with me please.” Skarhys runs past you and seems to be going up to Harq.
"I ain't no wizard and my magic is more fer destroying then fixing." Brodan says helplessly as he shrugs. "If we were near a force I could be helpin ya more."
Seeing the crew standing around Harq starts to bark orders "You lot! I know it's wetter than your momma's panties out here, but don't just stand around! Pull the sails or we'll run aground!" He then puts all his strength into turning the ship port side to avoid the rocks.

Harq 14
Made a mistake there, I think. To simplify this, I’m going to roll a dex check for Harq and if it doesn’t meet the DC, the ship will take a certain amount of damage. 18. Alright.
Harq, you attempt to maneuver around the jagged rocks, but are unable to fully move around them. The ship has taken 64 damage. You can hear some of the wood splinter as it moves through the rocks. You are clear now. What do you do?
Helena/Lia/Brodan There are no buckets in your immediate vicinity. You can look for one and try to dump the water out.
Also, being in the hold, you have first-hand experience of the jagged rocks ripping through the floorboards. You can see even more water start seeping in. What do you do?
OCC Can Kronk just pick up the baot and carry it over the rocks? Just a wee bit o' humor. But once the boat starts getting holes ripped into it it's pretty close to "Abandon Ship!' time.
Kronk will holler, "We planks, hammers and spikes need an' now they'd be neededed, later times be deaders us, shipwrecked least."
He will try to find the stuff needed to delay the seemingly inevitable end of the road...sea?

Kronk You look around for anything you could use to actually patch up the hole and the new damage caused by the rocks.
Investigation: 17
That is a nat 20, nicely done. You find a small trunk that seems to have some building supplies. You also find a few planks that look like they could cover the damaged areas for now. By for now, I mean until proper repairs can be made. There’s another question that needs answering though. Can you use them properly? As you don’t have proficiency with carpenter’s tools, this is a normal 1d20.
16
Once again, nicely done. Seeing the planks and the tools sparked something in you. A memory, perhaps. You immediately get to work on the repairs as if construction is second nature to you. You know the repairs are just until the ship can dock somewhere and that they are not entirely sturdy—they could break again—but you take a minute to appreciate your work, which doesn’t even stand out to anyone but you. It looks exactly as it used to.
((With that roll, he only patched up the holes. Basically, it’s good enough for now but will need a proper repair later. If it was a nat 20, it would be a perfect fix. Those patches are more likely to break than any other part of the ship if something were to happen, but the damaged parts are completely sealed. Speaking of sealed, the water is up to knee-level now.))
((Also, let’s keep in mind that Harq doesn’t know about the repairs yet. The stress of crashing into those rocks may affect his judgement.))

Anyone who is joining Helena with this should roll for investigation. If you want to do something else, feel free. I’ll roll for Helena since her post is already up.
Lia also lends her aid in moving things to block the hole.
Brodan will help as well, doing what he can to fill the hole in as much as he can.

What does Kronk do in the mean time?
"Aye captain!" Harq replies, over the sound of the storm. "I'll keep er steady!" He adds falling quickly back into his training at sea.

Lia is clearly out of her element here. She just stares at the hole and waits for someone to tell her what to do.
Kronk, looks to the Captain, "Where be neededing Kronk? Muscles plenty."
OCC If he hears the commotion going on below decks, he'll head there.

Helena groans at the pirate's incompetence. "We're all going to die here, aren't we?"
(Are there any buckets around? Also, would it be possible to just continuously scoop water and chuck it back out the hole?)

Though it hit the rocks, Harq isn't going to leave the wheel, so he'll stay at the helm.

Helena will start looking for buckets and gathering as many free people to try and throw out the water.
