"The Feywild, huh? Oh, how exciting! First a trip on a ship and now plane shifting!"Eira's eyes light up and she clasps her hands together. "I suppose we don't know much about the area, aside from you and Mister High-hill. A simple plan is a good plan! Less things to go wrong. Though, I can't help but wonder, how will we reactive the portal? Do you the ability to do so?"
((For the record, just in case I didn’t make this clear earlier, Malyra’s been on this plane for most of her life. She was cast out of the Feywild by someone in the castle on the day her uncle took over.))
”I guess that makes the desert our best choice, then. We should stock up on supplies, especially food and water. Maybe some cards too, deserts aren’t the most entertaining of places.”
"Hm, I don't think that there are established trade routes thru that desert bit maybe we can find someone who knows it well and could guide us or at least tell us which parts of it we should avoid or where to find water."
Zargaroth gets up and walks over to the bartender to ask him if he knows of somebody who has experience in traveling the desert surrounding the village, hoping the answer is not "an angry orc mercenary".
"Good idea." Ethan says in response to the idea of a guide. "Should we check into getting some sort of mount to make the crossing faster?" he asks the group.
Zargaroth You approach the bartender and ask him your question. He says, “Well, Brak’s outta ‘ere so I’m feelin’ generous. Not generous enough for more free drinks, but... I got a friend on the other side of the village. You’ll know ‘im when ya see ‘im. Lives in a hut and has ‘bout 10 pet camels he lends to merchants like ya. Ya go to him and tell him Alasdair sent ya. He’ll give ya a discount.“ He gets off the stool and starts walking before he turns back to you. “Oh and...ya might want one of yer human-lookin’ friends to do the talkin’ for ya.”
"We'll keep it in mind, thanks for the warning. Just out of curiosity, where do caravans from this village usually travel to? I can't imagine the orcs out there in the desert to be very pleasant trade partners."
Zargaroth “The orcs? Oh, their groups are scattered all over the desert, but mostly they’re mostly west and south of here. You can take yer caravans to Thorton, a town bit to the north from here.” He looks to Cora and responds, “He thought I was a halflin’ when we first met. He’d have no problem with ya. He does have an overwhelmin’ fear of demons though, so I rec’mmend having someone else speak first.”
"Sounds good to me!" Cora replies, excited for a desert adventure and for camel riding. She turns back to the bartender, peeking her head over the top of the bar. "Mr. Alasdair? I was wondering how much worth of ale the orc drank. You said he got it all for free?"
Zadoris moved himself up by the others and said in response. "I agree, lets go see about the...beasts. If we can speed this journey up all the better. Who knows if the orc will come back with friends."
Cora Alasdair shakes his head. “He had maybe 10 drinks before you and yer buddies came in. He paid by threatenin’ me and my bar.”
Zargaroth He takes the gold with a little hesitation. He doesn’t notice your nod, marveling at the shine of the gold piece.
Everyone You start heading for the camel master (just calling him that so you know who I mean. You’ll know his actual name soon) after leaving the bar. After about five minutes, you find yourselves at the edge of the village. There’s a shabby looking hut with a large pen. You can see about four camels and you can hear them groaning. Those of you who wish to split up from the group have the opportunity to do so now.
Those of you who stay and continue to the ‘camel master’ approach his hut. As you get close, the man steps out. He seems to be very old. He has white hair, a wrinkly face, and a visible slouch. “Oh! Are you merchants? Come in, come in.” He turns around and steps back into his hut. “Let’s talk.”
Cora does some math in her head, then looks a bit worried. "But him coming probably made everyone else not come! That's bad for your tavern!" She takes out 6gp. "Thank you, sir! You're a really nice barkeeeeeep! She calls as she runs out the door after the others. It shuts loudly, and Alasdair hears: "Oh. The door! Sorry!"
Camels
Cora looks excitedly toward the hut and camel pen, but then frowns. "Mister Alasdair said ten camels. Ooh! Maybe the other six are invisible camels! I call dibs!"
When the camel master walks out, she follows him inside. "Hi sir! We wanted to get some camels to cross the desert. Alasdair said to tell you that he told us to tell you that he sent us here."
Eira and Zargaroth are out in the village looking for supplies. Ethan is keeping watch outside the man’s hut. That leaves Cora and Zadoris for talking with the man. Here we go.
Eira/Zargaroth You head back into the village and are unable to find any sort of market-like area, but you continue walking. At one point, you hear a screech as Mara descends from the sky, landing on Zargaroth’s shoulder.
Zargaroth:
You hear Mara speak to you telepathically. “The green giant is gone. Left the village and went somewhere away from the sea. Give me something to eat now.” Though the voice in your head sounds to be nice, you would used to Mara by now. She doesn’t have the same mannerisms you do, so it’s possible she did not mean to sound demanding at the end.
At the end of the road, you see Rhond’s men bringing the wares back to their ship. When you look back, you see some of his other men giving villagers gold for a portion of their crops. What do you both want to do? If you wish, you may portray your characters while you discuss.
Cora/Zadoris The old man waits for you to step in, and he notices Ethan staying outside. He shuts the door gently, and invites you two to sit on stools with pillows on them, but you do not have to. When you look around, you realize there isn’t much to see. The inside of his hut is almost completely empty, aside from a seemingly tough cot and the pillowed stools. The walls are chipped all over and have a very faded color, but it’s stone, not paint. You can, however, pick up a strange scent. He sits on one of the stools. He doesn’t bombarde you with questions, just asks these during the conversation. “Hello, young’uns. My name is Lor. What are your names? I hear you arrived with Rhond. Are you here to rent some of my babies?” If you want to do any checks, now’s the time. What do you want to do?
Ethan The walls of the little building are not exactly sound-proof. You’re able to listen in to the conversation as you watch out for anything. What will you do now?

Whatever his answer is, Cora goes up to the bar and orders a tiny glass of ale for herself.
"We'll keep it in mind, thanks for the warning. Just out of curiosity, where do caravans from this village usually travel to? I can't imagine the orcs out there in the desert to be very pleasant trade partners."

"Seems like a good enough lead." Ethan says with a nod to the tavern keeper. He glances to the others. "Shall we go and see about these beasts?"
"Sounds good to me!" Cora replies, excited for a desert adventure and for camel riding. She turns back to the bartender, peeking her head over the top of the bar. "Mr. Alasdair? I was wondering how much worth of ale the orc drank. You said he got it all for free?"

"There is no reason to spook the poor man, I will keep some distance. Here 's something for your trouble"
Zargaroth slides a Gold piece over the counter, gives the man a nod and turns to leave the bar.
Does Zargaroth know where Thorton is? Is it on our map?(it's not on the Image you shared)]
Eira hops alongside Zargaroth and gives him a bright smile. "I'll keep you company! I don't think we need the whole group to hire some camels."

Zargaroth turns to Eira in response to her offer.
"That's nice, lets see if we can find a shop that has something useful on sale, I'd hate to travel the desert unprepared."
Zargaroth wanders of to find a general goods store.
On the way he will try to contact Mara and ask for a "report" if she is close enough.

Since the others seem to have the discussion with the camel merchant under control, Ethan would keep an eye out for any trouble.
