Lafetha rummages through the bags, only to come out with some pre-packaged bird feed. Tossing it down at the creature which begins to tear at it with it's sharp beak.
Now, all returned, and knowing that bird made some suspicious noise a little bit ago, knowledge that the mesh disguise could be cut and slipped into, along with this not being where-ever the giant made it's way into the likely hidden town... what do you do on this afternoon?
Sim not 100% sure they are alone but feeling better not seeing anything suggests following Abigail either back up to the town to check it out or to a hiding spot to wait for the fall of darkness.
Morgan notices Lafetha going through the bird's things and with no respect for person space or property Morgan takes the Lockbox and the journal. They start reading the journal, "unless we are going to charge in wands blazing, I think we need to wait for nightfall, hopefully these invisible hon'ees or whatever you called them can't see so well in the dark and give us a bit more of an even playing field. "

Morgan swaggers over a bit, putting on their best impersonation of Shatter. After Lafetha is done rummaging around, they look through. Also finding the journal and the lockbox. They take both; the lockbox doesn't appear to have any particular way of opening it that's clearly visible. The journal is tied shut; a silver bi of twine between two rings keeping it closed.
While the group begins to go off, they pull at the strings. The two rings collide with a huge sound of church bells; ringing that's clearly visible for miles around.
The bird quickly picks it's head up and takes straight to the sky, leaving behind whatever it was doing as the alarm rings louder and louder.
There's a brief moment where it's just the sound of bells everywhere, before the sound of thunder seconds later. A barrage of cannon-fire coming from the top of the hill; soaring through the air before exploding and beginning to pelt the ground. Then another volley, and another. Each of the balls bursting and showering shrapnel down to the ground.
(DC 12 DEX saves vs 22 piercing damage. Save for 1/2 damage)
The alarm is still ringing while you all believe the cannons to be reloading....
"Why is it that everytime I pick something up there are explosions!" They shout at the hill "Stop blowing up my girlfriend's bird!... I mean my bird! I'm Shatter!" Morgan looks at the group "There is no way they bought that. We need to get out of here" Morgan throws the book as hard as they can runs in the same direction as the party.
The crew takes off running. The sounds of another volley of cannon fire behind them. The shots bursting in the air and projecting out fields of shrapnel that rip through the trees and underbrush. With the journal and the silver wire dropped, it continues to ring. Those bells loudly chiming giving whoever is shooting cannons more time to zero in and blast. After a few minutes of running, you all find some refuge. A patch land just above some water. A few trees and shrubs for cover.
The bells ring for a few more minutes. The cannons continuing to fire for a minute or two even after the bells stop.
Finally, silence. Both the bells and the cannons coming to a stop.
After about 30 minutes or so, there's a low hum in the air. Then, the sound of cracking trees. It's likely the armored giant is out, where you just were. But it's a bit too faraway to see right from where you are. Neither Sim or Lafetha believe this spot will likely be searched, having gone far enough away from the eruption of combat. Sneaking over and scouting up close, or trying to climb (or fly) up the trees and look around could provide some insight to this beast. But nobody has had time to fully rest and recover yet....
What do the crew do?
(Short rest for an hour? - roll any HD you wish to spend / per usual) (Scout from afar? - Roll Athletics / Acrobatics to climb up a tree, unless you have a climb / fly speed. DC 10 or take 3d6 fall damage. Then give a Perception check) (Sneak up and take a look? - Roll Stealth, then give a Perception check) (Long rest for the night? - tell me if you're on 1st or 2nd watch and let me know if you want to roll perception, or have me use your passive perception *This can only be taken by the group as a whole, not in combination with others) (Something else entirely?)

Taking first watch Wilson will wait for Morgan to fall completely asleep before making a taking a small bowl of water and gently resting her hand it it while she sleeps.
Sleight of hand 12
((using Passive perception for watch))
when it comes time he will head into a nearby tree to sleep.
(Just going to assume that Abigail is taking second watch; not leaving it a strange 3 v 1 group situation...)
Morgan falls asleep rather quickly, with Lafetha and Wilson staying up during those first few hours. Sim and Abigail finding some time to get some shut eye.
With the three of them in deep sleep, along with Morgan's hand in some warm water, the sun sets. Day turning to dusk. And the oncoming night. Lafetha, you actually notice it. Right on the edge, barely 20 feet away. A humanoid figure, dressed in full adamantine scale mail. A chain swirls around the figure, moving under it's own accord. One hand resting on a blade by it's side.
The full-faced helmet shakes in a 'no' pattern. A soft, stern voice coming out over to Lafetha. It's in this moment that Wilson notices the figure standing there - having gotten far closer than anybody would have hoped. "Just want my stuff back. Let 'em sleep, and kick the box on over here. Don't really want to fight the lot of you...."
With the majority of the crew still asleep, and the twitchy hand of a bounty hunter with some kind of living chain before you... what do the two of you do?
Shatter takes a few steps forward, closer still. Shatter's fingers moves, pointing to the box that Wilson removes. The chain fluttering around and heading over to the box, wrapping around it. Another motion from Shatter's hand causes the chain to come back. A gloved hand maneuvers along certain points before a little 'click' can be heard, the helmet glancing around inside the box as it creeps open.
From where Lafetha and Wilson stand, they can make out a few scrolls of paper in the box. More than likely Blackmire bank notes and other similar official documents. The hand removes in a particular pattern, the box closing on it's own before the helmet looks back. A small nod to the two of them. "Shame that I can't find the alarm cords. But, the bird took a bit of a beating. She's fine though." Shatter takes a few steps back hand moving away from the blade. "Always can trust a Wilson to not get between work and pay." There's a small tip of the head as Shatter slinks back off into the darkness.
The sounds of feet eventually fade, leaving you both alone. The remainder of the night continues without incident....
(Everyone gets a long rest!)
It's sometime past midnight, and likely a few hours until sunrise. The swamp itself is dark, only faint light from the world above eeking between trees and stars. Things move along the water and in the trees; nocturnal creatures finishing their hunting and heading home. Feeling rested this is likely one of the better times to head towards your target.....
You know where the hill is, having passed it. Although it's got a netting of camouflage to keep it from passing eyes. It's defended, able to zero-in cannons once an alarm is sounded. Considering the size of the Giant, you can always attempt to head in the front, where you figure the footprint trail wandered off to.
Of course, could go back the direction you saw before. Abigail noticed a few traps laid out on her approach - deep sinkholes. Then cut a section and slip inside. Of course, you haven't explored all of this place yet, either...
Fluffing his feathers Wilson watches the other waking.
"We need to speed this venture up. I suspect each day that our crates are at greater risk. I also suspect that my particular skills will be less than useful as Shatter left thier bird behind I assume flying in is not an option. I vote circling round and attempting to sneak in the back of the netting, unless someone has a brighter idea?"
