Abigail nods to the smaller chest, "Grab that one, Lafetha. I am going to see what we have to salvage from the other."
Abigail goes over to the broken box and starts trying to investigate what happened to the contents (i.e. does it have a lot of straw padding indicating something breakable was inside; completely emptied out and bare; strands of hair, scales, or other things indicating it might have been some kind of creature? Was it taken out and dragged, could it be something in this room?) Investigation: 23
Abigail heads over to the shattered box, trying to reconstruct the scene and materials. She looks around, finding bits and pieces. There are some scratch marks. Both looking like from a person with hands, as well as claws. Several deep scratches that were from over time... like it was trying to get out but was likely bound. Scraps of leather from some kind of clothing. Some hair... and some fur... Similar in color but the texture is all wrong.
You're not entirely sure what kind of creature it could be. The marks being so close together make you firmly believe it was a singular creature. Something that has both fur and hair. Claws and hands. Could be something like Alul, or some kind of shape changing creature. Could be some kind of magical alteration, too.
You certainly think the box was broken after whatever was inside was taken out; no clear signs of struggle being visible. It's possible that they took it to those tables; but it's impossible to know if the blood is whoever was in here, or if it lashed out at someone. If whatever it is happens to be dangerous, it's likely inside a cell.
"Well, great..." Abigail sighs, "We are still down one crate, and it seems unlikely that we will be able to get what or who ever was in thiscrate back into it."
Abigail looks around at the scene. "So, is this sort of the general dump-it area? In which case... Lafetha, check to ensure that the other crate has not been opened - but don't open it if it has not."
Abigail goes over to the table. "So, whatever was inside the crates was likely important for some kind of experimentation..." She quickly looks around the table for the most recent notes or journal. "If we are unable to retrieve what was in the crate, maybe we can at least secure any notes that might have been taken on it." The general mess of the table makes Abigail's stomach churn. "We don't have time for this..."
Abigail just starts randomly stuffing notes and journals in her pack, in the hopes that she grabs something important.
((If the crate that Lafetha is carrying/near has been opened, and is empty, she will scan the table for something that could reasonably have been inside it (i.e. the broken jewel). If so, she will grab that as well. Once all that that is done, Abigail is going to see if anyone else wants to check the cells, or if we should just call this crate a loss... After all, we are still missing one...))
Abigail grabs the broken gem. As Sim notices the pieces of the jewel, having been carrying a large chest, he does notice it is fairly familiar; like the jewel that became embedded in his chest.
Lafetha looks over the box, making sure it's unopened. Luckily, it is. She then glances at the red fuzzy things in vials; they match the description of what Morgan was talking about from the shipwreck a few days ago. Some kind of very lethal contagion.

Sim asks Wilson and Abigail to unlock the 60lb chest and then seeing the broken gem voices his concerns about it being like the one imbedded in his chest.
He takes a minute to investigate the scraps of leather clothing as well to see if it yields any additional info on our captive.
Sim places the chest down before going and taking a look at what was left behind. It isn't much... you'd need more than scraps of leather clothing to figure out any particular style of it. And the fur / hair doesn't bring up any new possibilities than what you already have thought about.
Abigail quickly rushes over to the chest Sim placed on the ground. Under her breath she notes, "We do not have time for this..."
Investigation: 16 Thieves' Tools: 28
Abigail pops open the lock. Inside is a vast amount of mostly copper coins, with some silver deeper down. It would likely take some time to count it out or see if anything was at the bottom.
Sim carefully opens up A; the deadbolt and door creaking a bit as he slowly opens it. Inside is a double chamber - both A & B connecting. The room itself has a few lanterns hung up; casting around shadows.
A dead... something lays out on a table. Humanoid, but mostly disassembled. (Medicine to know more)
The room itself is rather clean and organized. Three tables; one with a body, the other two lay bare. Clean. (Investigation can be used on the room)
A few jars of odd inks and and tattoo equipment are out of place next to some more alchemist contraptions. (Arcana)
Off in the far corner at the end of the room, another door, keeping whatever is there inside. Likely, both C and this door go into the same room. On a scrap of paper, the word DANGER is written across it. And someone has jammed the door with a bit of wood to keep it shut. (Athletics or Sleight of Hand to get it out)
Wilson shrugs as Abigail unlocks the chest. Glances around the next room sees no other crate and motions that they want to move to another room and points at the room at the end of the red line cocking his head to ask the others if it is the best idea. a slightly clicking of talon on the floor indicating that he is not prepared or comfortable searching every room here.

Abigail takes in the room, "By the Iron Queen..." She mutters in disgust.
She heads over to the dismembered humanoid, trying to discern if this might have been the creature from the crate... and hoping that it was not done bythe creature from the crate ( Medicine: 11 ) - her eye wandering to the sign on the door and her anxiety with the whole situation starting to bubble into her consciousness.
Abigail and Sim look at the creature. It's hard to make out what is used to be. Humanoid. Thin framed. Based on what skin and hair you see, it matches what Abigail found in the crates. Some of the muscular system is exposed, especially around the hands and arms. It's flat-face is difficult to make out, due to the injuries. Abigail, you do see cuts around the fingers. Likely trying to figure out if it had retractable claws. Sim, you notice odd bulbs on it's skin. Fleshy bits that were attempted to be cut off, much like what you now have covering yourself after that cursed gem embedded itself into you.
You don't know if they were trying to help it and then later turned this process into a dissection... or simply experiment on it. But the two of you continue to look. Finding other clear things past the blood and grime; ritual scar tattoos on parts of the skin. Another having some kind of 3 rings tattood on to it in a very crude pattern. Still, sections of it are missing.
Lafetha - you take a look at the ink and tattoo set. Picking up some of the vials and giving them a bit of a shake. The way the liquid moves and sparkles; it's some combination of inks, crushed up gems, and some other things. You know a bit about the forbidden arts, but the exact nature of what they were going to use this particular mixture for escapes you. It could be the creating of some arcane spell. It could be a part of a ritual. You're not entirely sure.
Morgan - while the others look around you turn away from the door. Opening up drawers under tables and shifting through papers. The room is near spotless. Even the eventual tools you find that were likely used on this dissection and carving up have been mostly cleaned... if you count leaving them in some kind of toxic water cleaning. In a attempt to assist with what others are doing, you're able to borrow some of the journals and papers that Abigail grabbed. It's mostly numbers, and other short hand notes of whatever they've been doing. But you do find two things; someone copying what appear to be highly decorative runes - and a sketch of a odd humanoid with shaggy hair and pupil-less eyes. Beside it, a cat-like face that resembles it.
When shown, it's instantly recognizable to Sim, Lafetha and Abigail. That's a Hn'ti. Glancing back at the deceased... it's most likely a Hn'ti too. Eyes glance to the door with danger on it... having no idea what may be beyond that.
Wilson - it's in this moment that you hear footsteps in the hallway...

Morgan thinks for a second, "Okay so... those needle things we found outside are connected some how to the experiments here. Either one of the Tn'yi whatevers broke out or is mind controlled. Or they figured out how to use these tattoos to transfer the needle powers to one of their guys. We've got some sort of mega-were-lion that may or may not be alive roaming the area right now, probably here to be experimented on. Which the more that I'm talking the more I am convinced that behind the danger door is probably one of these ting-tings or the Mega-lion. So the question I find myself asking is 'am I cool enough to befriend a mega lion?' The answer of course is obvious." Sleight of Hand13
