Quentin climbs the pole and puts his hand on the orb. He see the image of a gnome working tirelessly to construct this unique object. He sees the gnome rolling the orb toward enchanted bowling pins, knocking them all away and defeating crooked bowling opponents. This object is the legendary Bowling Ball of Feegle: it generates a sphere that pushes away enchanted items. The field can be adjusted to any size up to a radius of thirty feet. It is set to its maximum size at the moment.
Below, you can hear the metallic echoes of Eggric's voice issuing from the oversized helmet. "Hey! Wizard! Is it autographed?"

Quentin sighs and says, “You know I can have you arrested on the spot for illegal activities so stop pushing my buttons.” As he attempts to will the sphere to a smaller size.
As Quentin clings to the pole adjusting the size of the magic-repelling field, the translucent dome that covers the area starts to change...you can see that its just a concave spot pushed into a larger sphere by the force of the bowling ball. As the concave area shrinks and the dome lowers, sprites and pixies are pushed away from the higher areas of the roots and have no choice but to work in the lower area.

That is very clever Del says while waiting to see about the pixies using a minor item to alter the major arcana of the protective sphere. We'll have to be careful not to get pushed through the bubble wall as we retreat
Once Raven had sorted the loot she would take a look around the room itself, looking for anything else of interest as she checks for secret doors or anything else that might not be out and obvious.
No I think dispelling it would be bad. Have the protective bubble suddenly pass through us? I suggest we back out with the bowling ball and let the bubble reform in our wake. Once we get past the range of the bubble, turn it off, shrink and scramble back.
Elwin nods at Del's suggestion. "That sounds reasonable." However, as he said this, he gazed around the area, obviously looking for something specific.
(( Elwin is trying to do a last-minute check to see if there's anyone carrying bundles of wood strips, or better yet, completed hoops, immediately visible. Perception Check:20 ))
Elwin sees the pixies and sprites above, cutting long but rough strips from the roots, and the gnome urchins periodically running in, gathering up the fallen wood into bundles, and running out again. There are currently three gnome children gathering up the wood strips into cloth sacks. The one you followed in originally has recently run out.

"As good a plan as any." Raven agrees. "Let us get it done before they are able to harvest any more. Then let's find where these kids are taking the stuff to."
If following this plan, Quentin should roll a DC 15 strength save: the orb is difficult to move, it's under pressure from the restorer's shield.

Quentin, tapping into his magic, makes his gravity stronger which, even if it makes him slower, also helps to make pulling and pushing things easier. (Adjust Density to make strength stuff easier for a minute but walking speed is reduced by 10 feet).
Quentin is able to remove the orb from the pillar. The pressure of the shield above pushes you sliding down to the ground, but under control. As you move away, the shield fully reverts to its normal shape, the bottom of the sphere covering most of the floor of the chamber, except for a narrow rim around the edge. As it does so, the pixies and sprites are all pushed out of the roots. They struggle to return to work, smacking into the shield repeatedly like flies trying to get through a window (or, more accurately, into an inflated balloon.) The remaining gnome urchins scramble around the edges of the bubble for what scraps of wood remain before hurrying away through the passage to the east.
