Tarth You raise your hand up, forming and lifting two shadowy orbs as you do so. The two orbs fly at the scorpion at breakneck speeds.
Attack: 12 Damage: 10 Attack: 10 Damage: 10
One of the orbs misses the scorpion completely, hitting the sand and disintegrating a small area of it, which leaves a little black smoke. The other orb hits the scorpion, but in a very hard part of its natural armor. It does no damage.
Tanwar You step 5ft forward and swing your flail at the giant scorpion. It hits the scorpion’s leg, dealing 8 damage.
And we are back to the start Kotog – ? Kurg – ? Scorpion – ? Norak – ? Radar – ? Tarth – ? Tanwar – ?
Kotog The skeletal hand launches downwards to the scorpion, but proves to be harmless. A thin layer of magic around the scorpion absorbs the attack. The creature is no less outraged. It lets out a terrible shriek.
Kurg The half-orc charges forward at the scorpion. He stops 5ft away, and swings both his longswords in a deadly rage.
His first attack misses, but the two swings that follow strike the scorpion’s leg and body, dealing 7 damage.
Scorpion The scorpion lets out a roar when Kurg lands his hits. It slams the ground twice with both of its claws. The purple colored magic surrounding it gets brighter, as if the scorpion is becoming tougher.
Rolling dex saves for everyone Kotog – 21 Forgot you were levitating Kurg – 6 Norak – 13 Radar – 19 Tarth – 8 Tanwar – 9
When the scorpion slams the ground, a slight tremor affects everyone’s balance. Kotog was unaffected because he was in the air, and almost everyone managed to stay on their feet. Tarth has been knocked prone.
Kotog Chill Touch Surge: 90
((Going with yours since I didn’t see it earlier))
Kotog is overwhelmed by raw magic as the skeletal hand is launched. You now roll for a result on the table at the start of your turn for the next minute.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Norak is buffeted as the Scorpion uses it's claws, which also grip Norak, to flail in the air and slam the ground. The Orc shaman eyes the ever growing glow around the scorpion with slight concern so decides it is time to try and negate some advantages. Though pinched within the claws he rasps out the words to a Dispel Magic focused on the Scorpion.
Norak The magic surrounding the scorpion seems to absorb your spell, which flew out of your hand as a line. The purple magic begins being drained away by the line, until it eventually reaches you. The scorpion itself is still purple, having been affected by the raw magic.
The effect on the scorpion that you ended has empowered you. You can take another action immediately.
You really aren’t. The scorpion’s in pretty bad shape right now. It’s just because of how long PbP can take that this battle is stretched out. Also, I did add in and take away some things to make the fight tougher so that one smack to the head didn’t kill it.
You would be right. I forgot it was a cantrip. I assume you rolled the d6 then and got the two, in which case the damage would have been halved. It still didn’t hit.
Kotog You launch 3 magic missiles at the scorpion, dealing a total of 11 damage.
And your surge effect is one of my favorites. It’s even funnier that you’re levitating. You send the darts out as your action when you feel the magic begin to backfire. A fourth shot starts flying at the scorpion, and when it is halfway there, it turns around and hits you. You feel every muscle in your body tingle as you shrink and turn into a potted plant. You are now incapacitated.
Kurg Kurg runs up to Radar and attempts to help get him free of the scorpion’s claws.
Scorpion 1 The scorpion waves its claws around to try and hit Tanwar and Norak.
Both hits land, dealing 3 and 7 bludgeoning damage respectively. The scorpion also tries to sting Radar.
Attack: 13 Damage: 8 + 7 poison
The stinger pierces through Radar’s shoulder dealing 11 piercing damage and 8 poison damage. As a bonus effect, Radar is stunned by the amount of pain he is in.
Staggering under yet another blow from the scorpion, Norak has had enough. He faces the creature, drawing out a small pinch of crumbling ration he waves his hand and staff through a few motions and casts Animal Friendship.
Wisdom save DC 15. 59
Regardless of the outcome Norak will follow up the casting but stroking one of the varied bones on his staff and seemingly gripping nothing he tosses out the essence of the captured bear spirit. It appears to be emaciated, bound by constricting vines, it's aura radiating out to 30'. (10 temporary HP, also advantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws while in the aura)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Norak You attempt to get the scorpion’s attention with some food from your pouch. The food seems to glow purple to match the magic that enhanced this scorpion. It seems slightly overwhelmed by the smell of the magic-imbued meal.
17
The scorpion shrieks again, refusing to be defeated. The purple essence around the food seems to float towards it, however, and in just a few moments, the scorpion stops thrashing. It looks at the food in your hand with interest.
As for your surge effect, you can see anything that is invisible as long as its in your line of sight. Nothing here is invisible and the effect wears off after a minute, so it’s not very useful.
The party has just tamed a giant scorpion. What will you all do now? Keep in mind that some of you are in really bad shape.
Seeing the charming effect take hold Norak quickly calls out, "It is no longer a threat! Do not attack it! The beast is quelled and shall be brought to heel!"
As the shaman looked both at himself and his companions he summons back his Healing Spirit to tend to the group.

The effect on the scorpion that you ended has empowered you. You can take another action immediately.
It is Radar’s turn.
With his renewed energy drawn from the magically enhanced scorpion Norak struggles in an attempt to break free from the grasping claws.
Athletics: 20
Still struggling to escape, Radar puts some more muscle into it.
Athletics 7
Norak
The scorpion’s grip on you loosens in a moment of confusion, allowing you to slip out with ease. You are no longer grappled.
Radar
You attempt to break free of the grapple, but as its grip on Norak loosens, the claws around you squeeze even tighter.
We are now at Tarth and Tanwar. What will you two do?
I can't believe we're having this much trouble with a single enemy...
Tanwar will continue fighting the giant scorpion with trusty flail and shield: Attack: 20 Damage: 6
William Brackwater: Human Fighter - The Windward Isles
Tyrgram, the Butterfly Knight: Dwarf Warlock - Secret of Greenwold
Iòlinder Corrach: Half Elf War Cleric - Allansia Adventure
Valerius Sergius Publius: Dhampir Paladin - Vae Victus

I’ll go ahead for Tarth again
Tarth
Two shadowy orbs rise out of your book and revolve around your hand. They instantly fly forward with a command. Intensity: 3
Attack 1: 24 Damage: 5
Attack 2: 18 Damage: 8
The scorpion takes both hits for a total of 3 damage, as the magic seems to fall apart a bit before it lands.
Tanwar
You wave your flail around, hitting the scorpion’s leg for a total of 6 damage.
We are back to Kotog. Remember to roll for the surge effect because of your last result.
Magic surge: 81 (Chill touch was a cantrip, I thought that roll as just the damage modifier not whole surge?)
Kotog remains where he is in the air and releases three darts of force at the beast.

He begins moving west, going around the scorpion and Radar, and stops when he’s 30ft away: 23
Tanwar finally snaps out of the magical effect.
Feel free to chat or rp through any of this, I just wanted to get the mechanics out of the way.
(How long is Kotog a potted plant floating in the air?)
