As you confer with your team, Team 10 hangs back a watches hesitantly, well except for Headmaster Northstar who squeezes into your little huddle as if he was part of the team!
"We have 15 gold, 3 silver, and a bronze coin to add to the pot, along with an actual magic pot if thats useful." He says this while Guhner is speaking! "I believe that makes a total of 80 gold, 2 silver and a bronze, as of now.."
ooc: Sorry to see ya go Whitefury! May you lead a grand adventure!
Mouse felt slightly ashamed at having spoken so plainly about the Headmaster and his group. It wasn't that he'd said anything too terrible, it just wasn't tactful to speak about using people in front of them. Instead he smiled, the man was obviously committed to his students, and that was admirable. It was also exploitable.
With a total, and no one seeming to oppose the two teams merging, if only temporarily. His mind set to work on a proposal he thought both teams could agree to, and save the time it'd take to haggle. "Headmaster.." Mouse begins, not really looking at the man, but kind of through. "..Would you and the students agree to help Captain Kain with some work? On an old light house?" His eyes focusing in on the Headmasters now. "When we get back? If we offer aid and 50 gold, that would leave us 51 gold, 2 silver, and a bronze to get a meal and a bed for the lot of us in Icener."
"What do you think Headmaster? Does that sound fair to you?"
The old man raises his brows and squints his already squinting eye, as if he was in deep thought. He begins to talk before you fully finish what your saying,
"Yes, it would be wonderful to be able to have a warm meal and bed after a boat ride. And construction work after the race isn't so bad. Well, I'm fine with that proposal, if your friends and mine are?"
He looks back at his team who have now inched closer to listen. The man with red hair looks at the students and gives him a nod.
Headmaster Northstar gives Team 12 a smile as he states, "Well then, a temporary alliance!"
"Hazah! Now Mouse, do you good good speech thing on the boat master...we must hurry along. We aren't the first to leave, we must not be last!"
Matilda will go and offer her hand in a swamp high five to the academy students...meaning she spits a big, wet, green loogie in her palm and raises it waiting for a taker.
Straightening his back, Mouse nods affirmatively to the two combined groups. Spinning on his left heel, he strode back over to where the captain stood.
"After some figuring Captain, we've come up with an offer that we feel is fair to both parties." He removes his fake spectacles for cleaning once more before launching into it.
"For passage to Icener good sir, we can give you today, as soon as we set off. 50 gold!" Returning his glasses to rest on his nose, he swings his arm around to motion towards the large group of companions. "Thats not all! We understand that you own a lighthouse that is in need of some work. The best and brightest from Northstar Academy for the Arcane, have agreed to lend their efforts to your cause!" His right wrist flourishes gently in an unspoken ta-da!
"That many magic users? Surely that would put a size-able dent in your repair costs! And as for the dangers at sea, well I can assure you my friends and I are quite handy in a bind. And id be remiss not to mention once more the advantage of So. Many. Magic. Users!" Mouse hoped the fact that most of said magic users, were technically school aged children, wouldn't devalue his offer.
The halfling approached the students with her wet hand high in the air! The two lookalike boys simply snickered while the dark skinned girl with frizzy hair took a step back. The tall handsome boy looked to his classmates and then shrugged, spit in his hand a gave her a high-five with a wet SMACK! The short redhead grins and follows suit while the redhead teacher just looks on in slight confusion. The chubby boy with glasses just gives a wave as the girl with the witches cap nods. The young witch with glasses doesn't seem to be paying attention, as she hasn't looked up from her book since the start of the race!
Kain scowls. Mouse doesn't know exactly what he said that offended him, but he said something! He glances at the students and then at Mouse and then back at the students and gives a cruel smile!
"Make it 60 now, 20 later, plus their help, and I'll give ya a ride their, But! If I say we gotta turn around, or it gets to dangerous, Their'll be no complaining or refunds. Got me? That, or no deal."
Northstar shrugs and says, "We can agree to that, if our new allies do."
"Later, as in when we get back, and we have a deal!" Mouse took the captains hand in both of his own, and shook it vigorously. He thought to himself that maybe the lighthouse was a sore spot. It didn't matter, there was no time to consider.
"Lets pile in everybody!" He calls back to the group and begins motioning for them all to come forward.
"Headmaster! If you'll deposit your gold with Matilda, we'll get the Captain paid!"
"If this one doesn't watch his mouth on the way I'll turn it around."
With that, the cantankerous gnome glares at each of you, takes his pay and starts to prepare the boat for takeoff.
As the Academy students begin to file aboard, Headmaster Northstar introduces them!
"These are the best and brightest at Northstar Academy! This one is Isabelle Pendle," he says as the petite girl in the witches cap passes by. She has short black hair and large dark eyes, but she has an almost sweet look about her. "You won't see a better curse, jinx, or hex out of anyone!"
"And this is Arthur Torbs, he got a perfect score on his Arithmancy exam!" he states proudly as the wide bespectacled boy passes. He gives a bucktoothed grin and a small wave as he walks by.
"Castor and Pollux Zinzulzin, are best potion brewers we've had in a century!" the two brothers pass, whispering to each other. The are deathly pale, and they both have pale grey eyes and greasy black hair. They both shuffle along, slightly stooped.
"This is Samantha McMason, now she's one Evocation witch you don't want to be on the business end of a wand on!" Sam is a rather short but well built girl. She gives you a wide grin as she brushes snow from her spiked up red hair.
"This is Mary Botterly, she's the top scoring student this year you know!" this short girl is wearing a giant pair circular glasses and her nose is shoved in a large book. Atop her braided brown hair sit a blue witches hat with golden stars.
"This is our exchange student from La Spairtia and a wonderful conjurists and transfigurists, Colette Lumiere!" he says as the dark skinned girl with bouncy curly hair goes aboard. She moves elegantly and smoothly, but with a determined step. She has a beautiful smile and a pair of striking blue eyes.
"And this strapping young lad is Jason Holk, the best duelist and flyer I've ever seen!" he is diffidently handsome, almost princely. He has dirty blonde hair and a slight smile, with a tired but content look in his eyes. In his hand he's holding and old, but sturdy broomstick.
"Must you lug that thing everywhere, Holk?" the red haired man says with a stately, but annoyed, voice. "This is our Evocation teacher, Professor Elliot Lionheart." Northstar finishes uneventfully. The Evocation teacher is a tall lithe man with a stern face and a fiery red beard. He's wearing a dark green bow tie and dress-shoes which clack against wood of the dock. His face would be handsome for his age if he didn't have pimples or boils or warts splattered across his face like a horrible case of acne!
"Oh, and of course, I'm Headmaster Isaac Northstar, the 4th and a half headmaster of Northstar Academy for the Arcane! It's a pleasure to meet all of you!" he declares as he boards the boat behind Captain Kain, who ushers you on the already crowded boat. "And all of you are?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Following everyone else on to the boat, he nods in turn to each of his fellow passengers. "I go by Mouse, its a pleasure to meet you all." Reaching up with his left hand to gently pat the spot where Rat rested underneath, in his inner coat pocket. "This is Rat." The tiny mouse responds to the pat, by scurrying to poke his head out of his coat collar. Scratching his tiny friends head with one finger, it felt like he'd been unusually still during the negotiations. He tended to be very responsive to Mouse's own moods, so it comforted them both when Mouse paid him attention.
There was something about Professor Lionheart that gave Mouse pause, something more than his unfortunate facial blemishes. Maybe it was the annoyance in his voice, or the stately tone he spoke with. Either way Mouse had a feeling that he was someone to keep his eyes on.
"Perhaps we should try and split up some work. I'll go and ask the captain if there is anything we can help with. Professor Lionheart and yourself can help the students work out sleeping situations? What do you say Professor Lionheart?"

((I'd like to do an investigation roll on Lionheart. Or perception? If investigation its +5 to the roll. if perception its +3))
Matilda starts to ready up a good swamp high five, but second guesses the thought and decides a quick two finger salute would do.
"Happy we could make these arrangements! The kids seem thrilled. I agree with Mouse, we should give everyone a job. You don't get scabs on your hands from sitting crossed legged in the cabin!"
Matilda will call out to the first boy that bravely gave her a swamp high five. "Oi lad! Grab that rope right there and see if you can pull little ole Matilda over why don't you!" (OOC: This is just character building, unless you want to RP further)

Guhner nods. "I've got 10 gold. I think they could come with us and it couldn't hurt to have them in debt."
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.

I can add 21 gold to the pot
That puts us at 101 gold 2 silver and a bronze
This is already a small fortune that could get a person by the better part of a year so let's start barging start low and see what we can negotiate.
