In the seconds that passed, Mouse had to steady himself as a single orb crashed in to one side of the boat. He also got to witness the impressive strength of a crocodile's tail. Each of these things brought him to the conclusion that, while he may not know exactly what he was going to do, he had to do something.
"I'm not entirely sure boy.. Matilda cant last forever out there. And the boat doesn't seem like it'll survive many more impacts with those things!" He replied to Jason's question. The boy was right, he WAS small. A trait that normally served him well, now seemed to be a hindrance. Still maybe if he could get going fast enough...
"Tell me how to get in the air! Perhaps if you all can slow their momentum, i can help shove them away from the boat?" Straddling the broom now, he gripped it in both slender hands and hopped in place a couple of times. Pitiful attempts to jump start the magical item.
"Just will it to fly!" Jason shouts as Colette fires a beam that turns an orb into a piece of pink string!
OOC: The broom will give you a fly speed of 30ft, but because you aren't proficient with it yet you will have to roll a Dex check DC 10 when you first mount it, every minute your on it, and every action thats not a move action you take while on it. You will also need to make a Wis check of 10 to get it to activate to fly.
Guhner will notice that the orb he failed to knock away had, "Carter & Fourthfeild" written on it in small gold letters. He will also notice another orb caught in a current and rushing towards the ship! The water seems to be getting more and more violent. causing the orbs and ship to get jostled around more and more!
The Jackdaw prepares to push the orb away but misjudges how fast its coming in! The orb slams into the boat, leaving both sides dented! Without a moments rest another orb comes crashing forward!

"Just will it to fly!"
Mouse had never been one to meddle in the arcane arts, as it could be very risky. He'd hoped by some sliver of a chance that there would be a magic word or something similar to get the broom going. He should have known better.
He was generally more of a study, then put in to practice type of learner. But another orb crashing into the opposite side of their vessel reminded him that time was scarce. Even so he had the forethought to dash back to his pack and retrieve his rope. Quickly he tied one end around his waist, and with the other end, he tied a quick half hitch knot around the broom stick near the bristles.
"If I die, someone feed Rat!" He yelled to the children busy casting spells. Then straddling the broom once more, he shut his eyes tightly and focused on one thought. FLY!
Wisdom check to see if he can get the broom to fly: 15
Guhner effortlessly strikes the orb away, truly displaying the strength of the Goliath race!
Things aren't going as well on the other side of the boat! Jack attempts to push the orb away, but it came in to fast! The entire boat rocks as the orb smashes into the side, were Jack loses his footing and topples over the railing, falling into the icy waters!
The broom Mouse is perched on begins to float! It lifts a foot of the ground before suddenly bucking like a horse and causing Mouse to slide off the front! After Mouse hits the ground the broom falls and clatters against the deck.
As the boat moves forward, unknowingly leaving Jack ten feet behind, a smaller blue orb comes into view. It peacefully bobs up in down in the water, but it does seem to be slightly glowing...
OOC: Of course you'd give me a decision, save Jack or move the glowing orb.
Matilda will try to catch of eye of Guhner, if she does Broccoli tilts it's head towards the glowing orb a few times. Broccoli then swims as fast as their tail can take them to approach Jack. They will dive underneath Jack and emerge with him on their back. With a short growl, signifying to hang on, they will swim back to the boat and await someone dropping a rope to Jack.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
After face planting into the deck of the boat, Mouse pushes himself back to his feet and shakes out the ringing in his head.
"Damn it!" He spits, feeling thoroughly embarrassed by his failure. Reaching down to the rope tied around his waist, he reels in the broom tied to the other end, dragging it across the deck back in to his hands.
Broom back in hand, he takes a moment to survey the situation once more, eyes once again darting around the ship.
Investigation roll to see if he notices Jack missing: 8
Mouse scans the boat and immediately notices that Jack is missing!
Everyone seems a bit preoccupied to answer Guhner at the moment, but Guhner does see Broccoli catch his eye and nod towards a blue orb in the water. As Guhner watches the blue orb starts to glow brighter!
Upon the realization, Mouse scrambles over to the side of the boat he last saw the young Monk. Panic momentarily negating the affects of the blistering chill in the air, he could feel the sweat on his brow. Or maybe it was just the frigged sea spray.
As he looks overboard, its not hard to spot Jack riding on the back of Matilda the Crock, doing her best to keep up with the boat.
"Grab on!" He yells to Jack as he takes the broom, still attached to the rope tied to his waist, and throws it to him like a spear!
OOC: Not gonna make you roll for that one Mouse. Will make you roll a athletics check if you pull jack up or jack will have to roll one if he climbs up.
As the boat gets closer to the blue orb it glows brighter and brighter! Guhner reaches out for it and...
The orb suddenly plunges under the water! Guhner watches as the glowing orb sinks farther and farther down in till he can no longer see it.
Suddenly the winds stop and the waves die down.
"Um... Whats going o-" Samantha starts.
The winds begin to roar and if Samantha finished you wouldn't have been able to her her anyway! The sail is getting pushed in different directions as the wind blows everywhichway! The waves appear again more violent that before! Everyone can feel the boat start to turn left. No not turned... Pulled!
"Its a whirlpool! Someone turn the engine on! Fuel it! Boost it! Whatever! Someone turn it on!" The Captain shouts struggling to keep control on the wheel! "Lower the sail and turn on the engine!"
Headmaster Northstar drops his staff and grabs onto Colette and Jason while Professor Lionheart grab the Zinzulzin twins by the back of their cloaks as they lean over the rail to look at the water! Mary, still reading her book, casts a spell at and orb thats coming in faster than the others due to the whirlpool! Arthur and Isabelle grab onto the rope connecting to the sail but are obviously having a hard time with it!
"My reptilian friend we need to get out of the water." What would it take for me to ride the broom? Also if I was to be pulled up by holding on to the broom. Could mouse use the help action to give me advantage?
