Thalion isn't tossing out quips or one-liners anymore. The acid stung and the idea that one of his companions might end up its next victim suddenly had even the boastful ranger in quite the grimly serious mood.
With his Hunter's Mark still on the ankheg he continues to fire at it with his bow.
Thalion's next arrow similarly flies through the air in a perfect arc and embeds itself now almost in the center of the creature's forehead. It shakes its head wildly and then slams its head into one of the sides of the mine, the arrow breaking off.
Now, with the point of the arrow still embedded in the creature's forehead, it skitters closer to Thalion, and attempts to latch its mandibles onto the elven ranger.
Attack: 16 Damage: 10 minus Bane to hit: 4
Thanks to Yoric's magic weakening, the creature, Thalion, you are able to use your bow to push the creature back, narrowly avoiding its mandibles seizing around your waist.
The scarecrow attempts to wave aside the distraction of Yoric and focus its attention on Grin. "You have a darkness in you, dearie. Hehehehehehe. I like that. Come, let Granny have a look at you." The scarecrow's eyes gleam red as it comes closer to the halfling warlock and locks eyes with her.
(Grin, make a DC11 WIS saving throw or be paralyzed with fear.)
Alden, as you see the beast pass you, you quickly notch another arrow and send it flying into the torso of the creature. THUNK! You score a direct hit right into the creature's back.
The ankheg shudders as the arrow impacts, and is starting to look a little worn down from the combined efforts of those targeting it.
Grin, the magic stone you fire at the scarecrow lands harmlessly at the construct's feet. Not quite enough power to hit it, even as Yoric has it distracted.
Nevlav, your first strike at the Ankheg misses completely. As big as the creature is, it is surprisingly agile, and it skitters past you, your war pick only just grazing its back legs as it moves threateningly towards your ranger companion.
As you charge after it and swing the war pick again, you make contact this time -- but the creature's hard exoskeleton absorbs the blow -- you were unable to get the pick in deep enough to do any real damage.

Thalion jumps back from the creature's mandibles with a cry, expecting to feel them bite deep into his skin. He looks down at himself, uninjured, and laughs triumphantly.
He drops his bow and unsheathes one of his shortswords, swinging at the beast's maw.
Thalion, your sword carves through the fleshy part of the creature's maw easily, and you dodge out of the way as a bit of acid squirts out from the new wound you've created. The ankheg seems to be bleeding out from the several wounds that you all have caused and its on its last legs.
(Yoric you can light a torch this turn -- next turn you can either try to jab it with the flames or throw it at the scarecrow, depending on how close you want to get. Are you good with that or do you want to revise?)

The ankheg screams in pain and fury, lashing out with its mandibles once more Thalion, trying to bite you and grip you between its massive jaws.
Attack: 16 Damage: 10 Minus Bane: 3
Once again, Yoric's magic does it's part, and the ankheg wavers at the last minute giving Thalion the opportunity to duck out of the way and sidestep its massive pinchers

The Scarecrow sees Yoric light his torch and it makes a horrible gasping sound -- its voice this time definitely not the hag, but rather, seems to be coming from the construct itself.
It will charge towards the halfling bard and try to rake Yoric across the chest with its horrible claws, a mixture of iron and branch.
Attack: 10 Damage: 3Minus Bane 1
Once again Yoric's spell works its magic and the extra bit of strength the Scarecrow needs to raise its claws under the influence of Bane, gives Yoric the chance to dance out of the path of the scarecrow's raking attack. From the body language of the construct, you can tell the hag (or whatever is controlling it), is getting extremely frustrated.
Alden, now that the creature is slumping over ever so slightly, your aim, which has been so true previously, finally fails you and the arrow clinks off the walls of the mine, creating a shower of sparks as the velocity of the arrow creates a reaction against the ore in the mine walls.
(Correct -- Nevlav, Grin, and the top of the order)

19 (with advantage bc Halfling)
DM: Does the Ankheg move out of Nevlav's reach?
(@Whitehart79 -- It does, so you should get an attack of opportunity against it, so you can roll that in addition to your regular turn.)
Grin, you meet the scarecrow's gaze without flinching, and the scarecrow actually breaks your staring contest first, looking a little disappointed.
"Oh, Granny Pustooth will remember you, little one."
(Alden, Nevlav and Grin, your go.)
Alden
Another arrow at the Ankheg. I am assuming its within 5 ft. of Thalion.
Hit:21
Damage: 3
Sneak Attack: 5
Grin lines up a magic stone at the Scarecrow.
Attack: 8 Damage: 5
Advantage: 17
Plus hex 2

(Nevlav and then top of the order again).
Nevlav strikes out at he Ankheg that rushed by him in it's animalistic focus on Thallion. "Not so fast shellie!"
War Pick Attack: 7 Piercing Damage: 3
He follows up by rushing after the creature himself and swinging down on the creature.
War Pick Attack: 11 Piercing Damage: 10
Yoric is going to try to light a torch and shove it into the scarecrow (not sure what rolls, or if that’s too many actions)

(That’s fine). Yoric lights a torch.

Alden
"Good show" Alden praises Yoric "Seems the thing is not a fan of fire.'
(I think Alden, Nevlav, and Grin are up - in any order- right?)

Alden fires another arrow:
Hit: 23
Damage: 6
