His War pick spins in his hand and he steps up to the closest acolyte lackey, pushing his tower shield practically into the woman's face he swings around it with his pick.

Grin, you manage to realize what is happening just as the Acolyte points and you roll out of the way just as a column of white flame shoots up from the floor.
Nevlav, you heard the satisfying sound of your pick meeting flesh as the war pick enters the woman's side. A deep crimson spot starts to spread across her blue cloak. The Acolyte winces in pain, and seems to be in very bad shape, but she's still standing.
Acolyte 3
She squares up to Alden, her breathing labored and heavy, but in a surprisingly fluid motion, she swings her rough-hewn wooden club in an upward arc, almost like an uppercut, aiming to hit the detective square under the chin.
Attack: 7 Damage: 3
For her bonus action, she casts Sanctuary on the Acolyte Leader
(Acolytes 1 & 2 are sleeping soundly for the next 54-odd seconds, Acolyte 3 looks on the verge of death's door, and their leader is a little hurt, but not really bloodied yet. Anyone who wants to attack the leader must first make a WIS saving roll with a DC of 12).

Yoric sees the acolyte casting spells and curses himself for missing one with his spell. He changes the tempo again on his lute, picking out a quick, twangy few chords. “I bet your spell lasts longer than your teeth.” vicious mockery2 dc 13 Wisdom save
For some reason, the female Acolyte really takes this insult to heart. As she hears it, she turns to you, Yoric, and you see as her synapses just stop firing. She goes completely still, her eyes turn glassy, and after a second, she drops to the floor, dead.

Grin reaches into her component pouch and produces a petrified eye of newt. "Ya can'cleanse wat ain't dere boy." she boasts as she tries to hex the head acolyte before throwing another magic stone (from last round)
If the hex takes I'd like him to have a disadvantage on wisdom checks
You hear a wet THUD as the magic stone makes contact with the lead Acolyte's skull, and you see a flash of decaying black energy course through his veins as your hex works its way through his body. He sinks to his knees and you hear him croak "Nuitari....why...." but the light leaves his eyes as he then falls face first into the dirt. He is most definitely dead.
(Grin, you can transfer the hex into one of the sleeping acolytes if you wish, but if you do, they will awaken. Thalion and Alden you're up. The two remaining Acolytes are still unconscious and will be for the next 48 seconds unless they are woken up or attacked.)

You fairly easily manacle up the half-orc acolyte as he is still unconscious. Even as you clasp the manacles around his wrists, he doesn't stir, merely letting out a snore and shifting positions.
Not eager to spill more blood, Thalion moves up after Alden and takes a length of rope out of his pack. He takes a moment to tie a secure knot around the acolyte's wrists, hoping they don't awake in the process.
Grinhilla will move over to the bodies of the deceased, pull out a small flask of whiskey, dip a finger and place it on their lips. "So de kiss of dead'may be a sweet wan, and'ya generaytions pass wid'out stryfe" she'll then take a drink from the flask and turn to the others.

Nevlav harumphs and gives a satisfying nod as the last of the acolytes fall. He breathes out heavily and settles the tower shield on to the floor and leans it against the bar. He releases his grip and fishes out an oiled rag to start cleaning his pick. Wondering on the dieing words he contemplates the meaning. (Could I make a history check to deduce if the word Nuitari means anything from the past? 17 )
Noticing the forming bruise on Alden's jaw, "Oi, you want me to take care of that bruise for you Detective?"
Yoric slows, and eventually stops playing altogether. He puts away his lute, and stands back for a bit. “I think our illustrious captain ran out the door. Do we chase him down or figure out for ourselves what these creeps were up to first?”
"If you would Nevlav, if you please." Alden responds to Nevlav's question.
Alden looks around for any tavern help or the keeper. If he finds someone he will ask: "Can you tell me what happened before we arrived?" he pauses. "Please" he finishes.
If not he will ask Thalion, "Can you track the drunkard? We need some answers?" he will ask.
Alden the will ask: "How long does the spell last?"
Thalion nods at Alden and says, "I can certainly try."
He hurries to the door their dear captain ran through and frowns. He was very far out of his element and tracking someone in a city would be difficult.
"I can move faster than the rest of you and I'm better at tracking, but I'm not sure if we should split up just yet. At the very least we should question them."

(There are the two sleeping acolytes and their leader [who is still under Sanctuary] left).

I'll see about doing that come Grins next turn.
Alden
Alden cries out: "We need atleast one for questioning" as he takes his manacles from his pack and goes to restrain one of the sleeping acolytes.
Thalion, you managed to securely tie the other Acolyte. Both are now bound, still peacefully slumbering on the disgusting floor of the Canary.
Alden
Alden abruptly turns to their contact, the Captain and says: "Mind telling us what the devil is going on?"
“Not much longer. Might want to gag them, they’re mages for sure.”
Yoric looks for rags behind the bar to gag them
