The 3 of you head over to the House of Inspired Hands, the Temple of Gond located at the corner of Seawatch and Shark Streets in the Sea Ward.
The House of Inspired Hands looks like a cross between a temple and a workshop. The symbol of Gond, a toothed cog with four spokes, is displayed prominently. You see a silhouette of a humanoid shape perching on the rooftop. It extends an arm, releasing a tiny metal sparrow into the sky. The bird does a few loops in the air, then veers right toward you.
Yevis looks slightly embarrassed, and picks up the broken and melted pieces
"Well, trial and error happens a lot here. We try to make all sorts of things here, not all of them work. But we try to keep our mistakes safely inside."
He perks up, and waves for you all to follow him
"Come with me, I'll show you some of the good ones"
Yevis takes you inside. The temple is abuzz with activity, inside the main hall is 2 dozen(or more) pedestals bearing prize winning inventions or a miniature model of some other extraordinary creation.
- A 4-foot-tall working model of a clock tower. It is made of wood, iron, bronze, and glass, with brass bells and delicate hands formed from solid gold. Yevis says "This one rings at the top of every hour"
- A wooden flying machine has wings that flap when it becomes airborne. Yevis says "This is a normal flyer, I don't know what was up with this metal one.
- A miniature model of a dragon turtle has a brass plate affixed to it's pedestal that reads "Big Belchy. Sank in Deepwater Harbor on the Day of Wonders in 1363 DR." Yevis "I really wish we could have found this when we were out there, Lord Darkeyes."
- A functional "waking helmet" equipped with small, articulated metal arms and handshat gently slap the wearer if he falls asleep.
- A miniature model of a red submarine shaped like a manta ray has a brass plate affixed to it's pedestal that reads: "The Scarlet Marpenoth. Lantanese submersible. Launched in 1489 DR." Yevis "Man those Lantanese are geniuses."
- A hand crossbow that is missing it's "bow" and has a metal tube where a crossbow bolt would go. Yevis "That's a BolzenWurfer, it's designed to send hardware like bolts and screws across a large workshop. But it doesn't work, it kept hurting the workers cause it hits too hard. My buddy Luka made it."
- A heavy crossbow, similar to the other but with and oversize metal tube on top. Yevis "Luka tried to tone this one down, calls it the FlascheWurfer. Supposed to launch bottles, but the they kept breaking."
- A clockwork amulet. This copper amulet contains tiny interlocking gears and is powered by magic from Mechanus, a plane of clockwork predictability. A creature that puts an ear to the amulet can hear faint ticking and whirring noises coming from within.
- Yevis "Oh I know this one, it's Nigel’s Knackered Knife: A knife with the properties of the Ice Knife Spell, which will activate… eventually. That's why they point it out the window there, never know." shrugs his shoulders.
"Hello, Yevis. Who are your friends?" says a bronze dragonborn.
Yevis "Ah, Valetta, just who we were looking for. These are my friends Cloud and Lord Darkeyes. Friends, this is Valetta, she should be able to answer your questions."
Hail and well met Valetta . I'm in awe of all these items I have just now seen. This is very fascinating . To the point, we are here to learn about puppets. Cloud and I are from troll skull manor and a eyewitness states a puppet like thing was what blasted that fireball that killed all those innocents .
"Well met, well met indeed! Greetings to friends of Yevis. Trollskull Manor? I'm not familiar with... Oh, you mean that fireball the other day over in the North Ward?"
Ooc - Trollskull Manor isn't as well known as other things, such as Acquisitions Incorporated, Order of the Gauntlet, Grey Hands, etc.
"Well I guess a nimblewright could fit that description, never heard of one that can produce fireballs. Why would that be needed? Maybe clearing out foliage or trash..." Writes down some notes "A problem for later, focus! We only have one nimblewright here that goes by the name of Nim, a gift from a Lantanese wizard. But he can't leave the building, so he couldn't be the one you are looking for."
The one you have probably is not what we are looking for but what you have might educate me with my lack of knowledge on a nimblewright. They themselves may not be able to cast a fireball but what are the chances that say a wizard could find a way to have one fire one off with say a bracelet or maybe even by scrying?

Roll Initiative
Random die behind the screen: 6
2 Arthur's init
12 Yevis's init
*stares at the bird in confusion*
20
20 goes first!
The "bird" is 60 feet away, heading straight towards you.
*hisses at the unnatural object and draws an arrow aiming for it*
11
Zings right by it!
Yevis is up!
Yevis has a wtf is this look on his face as he tries a acid splash on it
20 to hit
1 damage if it hits
I need to put a link on those spells of his, Acid Splash doesn't roll to hit. It has a Dex save.
Dex Save for Brd-E: 17
It fails! And dissolves into several pieces before plopping in a pile of metal and gears at your feet.
A cursory check shows that the figure on the roof is no longer there.
Arthur: is this normal Yevis?
Ooc: arthur is joking
