Again, you're not "using the the shard", while attuned to it you have the ability to cast that spell. It works like all other spells, except at the end of the spell you roll a d6 and on anything but a 6 you can't cast it again until after a long rest(that last bit might not show up correctly)

Taking the Ready Action consists of stating what Action you are readying, and a trigger for your Reaction to take the Readied Action.

And it takes a Bonus Action to cast that spell, not an Action(can't be "Readied")
Np. The ready action will be used for trying to plug up any possible leaks that might start then
That work, a Ready Action to, uh, Use and Object to plug up holes, trigger by said holes.
The shark closes the distance(20ft away plus the 30 you both fled) seems to scream out something, and attacks again:
Atk: 29 Dmg: 23
Critical Hit, so it does an extra 18 Dmg
It has no more movement so it will stay next to the Apparatus.
