"Alright! Let's check it out then!" Norge hands Oscar 5 silver. "Thanks for letting us rent one of your boats. That'll be a big help." Turning to Mith, Norge says, "I can row if you can point me in the right direction."
Bey shouts in horror when she sees the cauldron spilling forth with the bubbling green liquid. "Mocor...!" she shouts, "Get out of there!!!"
"Azure, what should we do? We need to help him..." Her eyes quickly scan the cabin, looking to see if there's another exit, like a window that he could possibly use to escape.
Azure will walk up closer and attempt to use Shape Water to making a pathway of pockets of safe floor that Mucor can escape on. If it works, "Quick follow the open spaces." Azure shouts.
"Bah! That my failed cure isn't going to kill me... bit it isn't going to save me either.." The minotaur would reply with a snort as he stands to his feet. The large minotaur would make his way towards the group as the bubbling liquid begins to settle as it cools. Mucor would stomp through the green soup as he approaches the two standing by his door. As he does so, light shining through the open door illuminates a very disheveled looking figure. Large chunks of fur are missing from his arms and face and legs, now replaced with glistening black and green flakes. His eyes are bright yellow and caked with black and green chunks around them. "I apologize for losing my cool... This is a frustrating time.." he would say to Bey and Azure as he rubs his eys with his hands. "I have been trying to develop a cure for my condition but it isn't going well. He would add with a snort.
"Sorry to hear that."Azure replies backing away a step to give Mucor a wide berth. "We've actually come to ask you about your condition, and what happened in the days or moments leading up to you becoming sick. We're trying to see if there's a link between all those that are sick so we can try to find an answer and hopefully a cure. If you don't mind, could you tell us what you did the day before you noticed you were sick?" he asks politely with a low bow and hand over his chest.
Oscar would quickly take the five silver pieces and jump up and down excitedly. "Here.. you take nicest boat" The grung would say as he points towards an old fishing boat floating towards the end of the dock. From here you can see that it was once painted white, but the paint has mostly peeled to reveal alge covered boards along the outside of the craft. The name of the vessel is still pretty easy to read in bright blue letters. "Swamp Thing" Oscar looks at it and smiles. "It my favorite boat, it make my heart sing"
Mucor would shake his head as bits of hair and.. something else like a dust or dirt fall from his body. "i don't know... The day before I noticed any signs of this... infestation.. I went looking for herbs like I normally do." He would reply frustratedly as though he has already retraced his steps hundreds of times in his mind. "I started heading north down the old road... it isn't traveled much anymore and so normally there are lots of herbs and mushrooms around for easy pickings... well I ended up going a little further than normal and noticed smoke coming out of the chimney of the old Moon Light Mansion. The place had been abandoned for years and I thought it was strange. Well anyway, next thing I knew I strong stink came blowing through the trees and there was a strange looking deer staring at me. It looked like it has the same sickness I got now... and I ran. I didn't want to get infected so i took off running towards the swamp. I had to jump through a few thorn bushes and scrapped my legs up pretty bad but I got away from the darn thing. Once I was at the waters edge, I noticed a few rare herbs growing out a ways in the water so i walked out there and scooped them out like I normally do. Then after that i came home."The minotaur would say as he paces around the room before flopping down into a large heavy chair.
OOC: You would know that the northern road he is referring to is the same one where the mysterious figure and the herd of animals came from last night.
Relieved that Mucor's immediate life and safety weren't being threatened by the contents of the spilled caldron, Bey listens to his explanation. "Well, this makes sense, now. Being the owner of the apothecary, I now see that you were researching a cure when something went wrong. I guess we cannot fault you for your well-intentioned efforts. Thank you for sharing that information with us, Mucor."
"You mentioned the north road. We were attacked last night by a herd of horrid, diseased animals that were being led down the old north road by a strange man in black. Do you know of anyone who lives down that way?"
A look of concern would was across Mucors face when Bey mentions the attack involving the infected animals. "Wow, I am sorry to hear that, I have been so consumed with finding a cure I haven't been payed much attention to recent events.." he would say as he runs his large hands through his dirty patchy mane. "As far as I know... no one lives that way. That is why I was so surprised to see smoke coming from the chimney of moonlight mansion... the placed used to belong to the original founder of darkwater... but he died about twenty years ago and didnt have any family to take over the place. " Mucor would say with a frown.
"I see. Perhaps we should investigate there once we regroup with the others." Azure replies turning to Bey. "Is there anything else you can tell us about this plague? Have any herbs or remedies slowed the progression or seemed to work?" he asks turning back to Mucor.
"Oh! I have learned a great deal... none of it good however." The minotaur would say as he motions the two visitors into his shop. "Try not to touch anything... If ya do you may end up like me.. and well.. a large portion of the town at this point..." Mucor would say as he shakes his head in frustration. "The first thing I recently discovered about the infection going around is that it isnt a sickness at all... it is an infestation... Some kind of mold or fungus... I know A LOT about mushrooms and herbs but this is unlike anything I have ever seen before." He would say as he paces across the room. His hooves clacking across the wooden floorboards and tracking the failed potion around the room. "Now it is pretty common knowledge that this infestation starts to cause your skin to change and hair to fall out.. but what people dont realize is that all these flakes.. from their skin and wounds and eyes.. they arnt just deal skin and scaps and puss... it's spores... Each little speck that falls from an infected creature or person could be enough to spread the infection to others. Mucor would finish with a snort as he looks towards Bey and Azure. "I took extra care to keep away from anyone that might be infected and washed any goods I purchased before bringing them into my home.. and I still ended up infected." The minotaur would let out a deep sigh as a small clump of her from his neck falls to the floor. "Now I will say... these spores and this.. infection are different than anything In have seen.. but I have seen a few different molds and fungi that share some of these characteristics... Three to be exact. Perhaps If you could locate then for me... I might be able to use those rare ingredients to create something that might work to fight this infection... "
"Yes. Any leads on how to cure this would be vital to pursue. What are the three fungi or mold and where are they located? Can you describe them in detail or perhaps have a sketch?" Azure asks excitedly. He thought over Mcuor's words carefully and thought back to his mother. Had she been pursuing a cure as well? She always enjoyed foraging the swamp for different plants. Perhaps if he didn't recognize the names of the fungi, maybe she would.
Jakob looks at Norg and Mith a little curiously, clears his throat, and says again a little more loudly, "I said the boat looks mighty fine, Oscar. How many does it hold? Will it carry five?"
Oscar would look up from counting his coin, obviously distracted and shaking his head. "Oh! Sorry.. Best morning I've had in a while" He would say as he pockets the coin. "Swamp Thing made for four.. could hold five... not recommend... probably need to travel light if going with five . If you sink my boat.. you buy it." The grung would add with a serious expression.
OOC: I apologize, I have been posting from my phone since thursday afternoon and with easter it has been crazy. I thought I hat posted a grung response but It looks like it didnt go. I will try to post a Mucor response soon.
Jakob turns to the other two. "We may have a little while before we meet up with the others. Should we try to talk with any of the others in the meantime?"
Mucor would look nod and scramble back towards a large set of dressors. on top of the heavy wooden dresser sits a large number of alchamy supplies.. some very traditional looking where as others seem very.. strange with odd lights flickering and a flame sitting under a test tube that appears to be sprouting from a tiny metal keg with no wick. The minotaur quickly pulls out a few pieces of paper and begins to circle drawing and descriptions of three different types of mushroom and mold. "here... this should be enough information to identify the specimens when you come across them." The minotaur would say with a loud snort as he holds out the documents for Azure. As you look at the papers, you realize that each of them seems to be a partial recipe for three different types of potion. "I do want those returned to me when you are done... those pages are quite valuble." Mucor would add as he points towards the documents in his extended hand. "And as for their locations... well I must say that they won't be easy to acquire.. if they were i'd be out of business." Mucor would tap his snout as he thinks about each of the three... "Well the Deathcap mushrooms grow within Skull Stone.. .The same Skull Stone that the swamp is named after. It is a huge rock in the center of the swamp.. There are a lot of dangerous creatures that live around there.. but none of them are as dangerous as the inhabitants of Skull Stone. A tribe of lizardfolk claim it as their territory and they find the Deathcap mushrooms very useful for creating some very impressive poisons that they use for hunting. The mushrooms themselves look like a normal mushroom but they are deadly if consumed... The next one on this list is Timmask.. Known as “devil’s mushroom,” a timmask is a 2-foot-tall toadstool with orange and red stripes across its beige cap. I have only ever encountered these deep within the MoonGlow Forest... normally growing among dead trees. The mushrooms can cause those nearby to act a little strange so any local wildlife nearby may attack you without warning."Mucor would say before pausing a moment. The last one.. Well... I call it the Glowing Goo... It is what we call a slime mold. It is pretty easy to spot in the dark since it glows bright green... It grows where it is very very dark with lots of moisture. Last I knew there was some of this growing on the walls in the sewers below Darkwater. Lots of kobolds live under there and they might be able to point you in the right direction but they don't like going to the parts of the sewer where this stuff grows... and you'll probably want to make sure you have a container to put the stuff in.. you can't really just pick it like you can a mushroom and put it in your bag." He would add with a look of concern. "one last thing... If you come across any creatures that do seem to be immune or resistant to this infestation... you might want try to capture one for me... or at least... bring me a sample of its blood... like a large sample." The minotaur would say holding his hands wide. "If I am able to use these materials to create a cure... the more of the materials I have... the more I can make... And the more I can make the more people we can save. you got that?" Mucor would finish with a loud snort as he points towards Bey and then Azure.
"Yes... yes sir."Azure stutters somewhat taken aback as the papers and orders are shoved at him. "We'll do our best." he adds with a nod and bows before taking a few steps back. "Let's track down the others. It'll be interesting to see what they've found." Azure says turning to Bey. "Thanks again Mucor!"
"Alright! Let's check it out then!" Norge hands Oscar 5 silver. "Thanks for letting us rent one of your boats. That'll be a big help." Turning to Mith, Norge says, "I can row if you can point me in the right direction."

"Yes... yes sir." Azure stutters somewhat taken aback as the papers and orders are shoved at him. "We'll do our best." he adds with a nod and bows before taking a few steps back. Azure, give me a perception check.... no biggy.
