Bhuraelea realises that his armor is making to much noice and quickly goes back a bit so he can clearly see a chicken inside the tent. He then points this closed fist while holding his staff at one of the chicken (#1) and a small ball of energy flies towards the chicken and explodes on impact. Attack: 25 Damage: 13 (force damage)

He then points his staff at the same chicken and a trail of mist shoots toward the demon. On a DC 15 Dex fail the chicken takes 7 frost damage.

He then spends the rest of his moves to return to the right side of the tent.

With so many chicken still around, i would use the shield spell, uping my defence to 25 for the rest of the round.

"Ow! Cripes, they bite hard! Ugly, little things!"  As he recovers from the attack by abyssal chicken #2, he'll rip his shortsword free and hack at the creature with it.

Spinning through his momentum, he'll stomp down on the next closest chicken #7 using flurry of blows.

And his second flurry of blows on chicken #10 trying to punt the creature as hard as he can.  (assuming we're all close enough for Jayson to reach any of them withing his movement range)
