Sael glances at Rush with an eyebrow raised, then lowers it. "Neither did I, honestly. But it makes sense. Is it safe to touch so we can bag it up and take as proof to their King?" She then looks around. "Anyone see my boomerang?"

Lol. Yeah, Kwiz is definitely wondering those very scientifically relevant questions, but he's not sure. He never encountered one of these before, so he's basically making a mental note of things to look up later, if he had the opportunity.
But, the creature does look very much unresponsive. You think that more than likely, it's safe to touch. It is a medium-sized monstrosity.

Sael kneels down, and using one of her handaxes, she carves out one of the Mimic's canine teeth and puts it into her pocket. ((See if you can manually add your own item to your inventory. If you can, add the tooth.)) Afterwards, she wipes the blood off of her hands and axe on the body of the creature, itself. Then, she finds a couple of places to grab onto the critter and starts to heave it towards the throne room.
In the throne room the Fibblestib and Dabbledob are having another heated debate. This time it sounds like they're trying to decide on whether or not they think you all are going to come back alive. You interrupt their heated debate mid-sentence as Dabbledob was saying, "No, Fibblestib, you're wrong. They will come back, and you're going to... Oh! Speak of Beshaba, there they are right now, andd ah! I see you've got a creature there...what is that?"
Dabbledob butts in, "That, dear Fibblestib, is a mimic. The King didn't go crazy, after all. I didn't think these even existed, to be honest. I've only read about them in books of lore. We are going to need to get this information to the Kings immediately."
As soon as he says that, he marches back out of the throne room, and around the corner, beckoning the party to follow. Once he and everyone following behind reaches the Kings' door, he starts beating on their door, saying, "My Lords, you were right. You were right all along and our new friends have slain the beast. If you please, allow us to come in to show you the proof that the threat is indeed now over."
King Korboz, timidly answers from behind the door, "The creature is slain, you say? Well..." there is a brief pause, some footsteps, and then you hear the sound of locks unlocking. The door opens slowly and but a crack - just enough for an old gnome's right eye and bushy eyebrow to peak through. "Well, show me the proof!"
Dabbledob looks over at Sael and motions with his eyes and raises his eyebrows while he addresses the King, "Of course, sire. Lady Sael has dragged the beast all this way."
Once King Korboz sees the dead carcass of the mimic, he swings open the door and exclaims loudly how excited he is that the beast is dead.
"Now that the beast is dead, I must repay you all. You have done Gnomengarde and us," he gestures with a hand to himself and King Gnerkli who is deeper into the room, "a personal favor. Now..." he strokes his chin as he examines each of the party members. Then, he turns to Dabbledob and says, "Go to the treasure room and bring the clockwork amulet and the pole of collapsing while I fetch this hat of wizardry and wand of pyrotechnics."
Dabbledob runs off with a bow, and he looks at Kwiz and says, "For you, my gnome cousin, you appear to be able to make the best use of this," and he hands the hat of wizardry. "Fibblestib tells me that it can not only be utilized as a spell casting focus, but it has another special use, too."
"Now, for you," he says while looking at Rush, "you may have this wand of pyrotechnics. I challenge you to find a creative use of this wand's magical properties," he says with a wink.
As he finishes that, Dabbledob returns with the requested items and hands them over to the King. Korboz then looks to Sael and says, "And for you, my new Tiefling friend, you may have this pole of collapsing. I have a feeling you'll figure out how to make good use of it."
"Last, but certainly not least," the King says looking at Oban, "for you, my new friend, is this clockwork amulet. This item should be able to assist you in future battles."
Then, almost as if as an after thought, Korboz says, "Now, if I remember correctly, you told me that you came here with a message. What was that message?"
((Hat of Wizardry says it requires attunement by a wizard. Thanks for the cool stuff!))
Sael bows her head in thanks, and waits for someone else to explain the situation to the Kings while she turns to Dabbledob to ask "Where should I put this?", as she raises the Mimic up a little.

Dabbledob, still a little excited and flustered by the unexpected turn of events, says, "Of course, yes. Fibblestib and I will take that." The two gnomes, working together, take the mimic away, the sounds of their discussion about how to experiment on it fading as they make their way down the hall and back towards their place of work.
Dabbledob butts in, "That, dear Fibblestib, is a mimic. The King didn't go crazy, after all. I didn't think these even existed, to be honest. I've only read about them in books of lore. We are going to need to get this information to the Kings immediately."

"What a clever hat! You know. A friend of mine back in the Library had something rather similar. It proved rather helpful from time to time. There was in fact one time when he... Ah... perhaps later." Kwisatz replies, tries the hat on, gives Duncan a look, who seems to give it his approval, and looks to the rest of the group.
Then, almost as if as an after thought, Korboz says, "Now, if I remember correctly, you told me that you came here with a message. What was that message?"
"A message less so... we were informed that someone here may have found a magic means to helping to deal with the dragons that have been present in recent days. The information... was... rather vague..." Kwisatz replies to the kings.
"A dragon?!" King Gnerkli's almost forgotten voice chimed in.
King Korboz looked back at Gnerkli then back to the adventures, "We were so preoccupied with the shapechanger that we hadn't even heard that there was a dragon out and about. Perhaps the items you now have might help you in dealing with that dragon if that is your ultimate goal. But, thank you for letting us know about it. Perhaps we'll be better prepared to keep away from it in our caves than we were able to defend against that dastardly mimic."
Korboz pauses for a moment and Gnerkli says in a somber tone, "If there's a dragon about there are bound to be others more at risk than we are."
"You're right," King Korboz responds. "As a matter of fact, I would say it's quite urgent that you all go and warn the others in the area that you can before it's too late for them."
The gnomish King begins ushering the party back towards the workshop and gesturing towards outside the caves as he's talking.
"Please, go with our gifts and with our gratitude. Help those others you can, if time permits."
"Oh!" Fibblestib raises a hand. "Before you go, I almost forgot to give you this!" He hands a book over to Kwiz. It's titled Magick of Gnomengarde (in Common and Gnomish).
Sael glances at Rush with an eyebrow raised, then lowers it. "Neither did I, honestly. But it makes sense. Is it safe to touch so we can bag it up and take as proof to their King?" She then looks around. "Anyone see my boomerang?"
