"Chase them! That's right! Of course I will keep an eye out and do a bit of my own chasing if they come through here! Did you see that Orc that was next to you just a bit ago? Might want to start with that one!"
Baeshra will look puzzled at the thing, “Are you guarding the mine, or just this room? One of the current owners of the mine was killed in the entrance not long ago, yet you’re back here doing nothing.”

Two of the eye stalks look Baeshra up and down. And then a third swivels over and focuses on him.
"My orders are to guard this room. Are you a miner? You don't look like a miner. You look more like an Orc." The Spectators tone becomes noticeably more hostile. "Are you an Orc, here to pillage and plunder?"

Umbriel steps forward, one hand on his glass staff, the other open and empty in a non-threatening manner. "Friend, this is Baeshra, a valued companion and most definitively not an Orc. My name is Umbriel, from the place local denizens would refer to as the Shadowfell. Like you, I am a visitor here, and while their ways are strange, I have grown to admire and trust this group for all of its strength and unity of purpose in pursuit of justice and goodness. We are not here to pillage and plunder, we are here to serve and protect. In fact, I believe we met the wizard of which you speak, and he directed us to recover any items of power from this room, the better to help us defeat those who would ransack and defile this area. Will you aid us in identifying these tools, so that we may assist you in your efforts to protect the sanctum?"
An eyestalk swivels over to Umbriel, two remain on Baeshra.
"Here to assist. Help me with my orders. Why did the wizard not tell me himself? You may help me, yes. Defend this room, we will." Another eyestalk focuses on Umbriel. "But you will not be touching the items in here that we are protecting!"
Another Boom crashes through the cave, and you catch a faint glimmer of fire light from the tunnel at the north that leads to the west. Then it is gone.

"Since we are new additions to the team, can you tell us what that booming noise was? And which items specifically are we guarding and not touching?" While he talks, Umbriel takes a good, long look around the room, looking for anything out of the ordinary - exits, arcane sigils in plain sight, that sort of thing. Perception: 14
"Probably the noise of the mining operation! We guard everything in here, and don't touch the workbenches or the flames!"
You see a door in the northeast, no arcane sigils, and a mace and a breastplate on work benches that don't seem to be scorched or as broken as all the other tools. The three suits of armor in the various corners also do not seem to be scorched and burnt.
"Pardon us while we sidebar, friend."Umbriel turns away from the Spectator, and whispers barely audibly to Lyngheid, "What do you think? I don't trust those intact suits of armor, but I think we could end this fellow's watch easily enough. Do you want to try, or should we just leave and look elsewhere?"

" Well I don't know what it is or anything about its summoning but I was going to ask it how long it was tasked to guard for, and then tell him the time has passed and he's free to go because its been a few hundred years at least since anyones been down here. But you just told it you spoke to the wizard so he;s not going to believe that now..."
Looking at Baeshra, " I can try but I know bugger all about magic or even what this creature is..."
Leaning it towards the others Nyx adds, "You know I can just make out light light up wonder corridor north west tunnel when we hear that boom sound. Whatever we are doing it may be good to keep it silent, as we may have company not that far away."

"Ah, yes. Well, I was hoping it would betray some secret of the room. We can still say the wizard is long dead and that I have the means to communicate with the dead - I've been working on that ability for a while, actually - and perhaps he'll accept that? He seems slightly unhinged as it is."

Lyngheid nodded and turned back to the eye-thing.
" As a senior member of the Rockbreaker family and hereditary owner of these mines, I will inform you that sadly the one who summoned you died hundreds of years ago. How long were the terms of your guardianship?"

Lyngheid nodded to the creature, " Excuse me."
She turned to the others speaking quietly, " So...anyone know anything about this fellow? I'd like to conclude this without violence if possible."
" Not sure he's all there, mentally."
Nyx watches from beyond the door, keeping an eye out behind the party.

Two eyestalks swivel towards Lyngheid and both blink at the same time.
"Gone? Hundreds of years. That can not be right. My orders were to guard this room for 101 years. Are you saying that my work here is done?"
Baeshra nods at the creature, "I commend you on your job well done. Time to take a well deserved break."
