OK, the Fire Giant tries to break free of the giant constrictor again: 22. And manages to loosen Baeshra's grip just enough to get out.
He retreats, moving only 15 feet away due to the difficult terrain. The portcullis falls on Baeshra snake, doing 5 bludgeoning damage. But Baeshra is also preventing the portcullis from closing. There's enough of a gap for humanoids to get through.
The terrain is still difficult due to Whistler's Sleet Storm.
The party is up! Whistler, Baeshra, Lyngheid make DC11 Dex saves at the start of your turns to avoid slipping and falling Prone.
(Questions, do I get an opportunity attack? Can I use my constrict attack for that attack and stop him moving away? And can a snake be prone?)
Both opportunity attacks miss, but Nyx slides under the Portcullis, pops up under the giant and using her momentum lands a killing rapier blow on the Fire Giant!
The giant crumbles to the ground with a surprised look on his face.
We're out of initiative, and Baeshra-Snake is holding the Portcullis open.
Baeshra assists Lyngheid as best he can, and tries to communicate his plan for what to do next through a combination of hisses and rubbing his scales, waiting to see his friends' thoughts on his plan.
OCC: Nyx will search the giant while the others start to raise the portcullis. Investigation 17
The Fire Giant has a large, giant-sized greatsword, a utilitarian hammer, a giant sized flask, a giant sized waterskin, and a coin pouch with coins totaling 30 gold.
Lyngheid and Baeshra push on the heavy iron portcullis and manage to get it hoisted off of Baeshra. Lyngheid stands, holding the gates over her head, arms quivering with the strain.
Which side of the Portcullis is everyone going to be on? The Village Side or the Cavern (#9) side?
Nyx fiddles around for a second, takes an eyelash encased in gum out of a small pouch, gives it a kiss before singing a soft note and suddenly disappears from sight.
"I'll find some one of letting you know if things go south, so site tight and make sure your not discovered while I am off"
OCC: Nyx cast Invisibility before heading down the stairs. She heads down caustically, looking for any traps or signs of guards.
Stealth 25 At advantage due to being invisible? 21
Perception/Investigation - same mod (if needed) 21

OK, Ireniana, Nyx, Baeshra-snake, Umbriel, and Whistler duck under the Portcullis and Lyngheid lets the Portcullis go. You are all now in cavern #9.
Nyx disappears to everyone and takes a quick spin around the hole in the center of the cavern. The cavern has a 50 foot high ceiling, with a deep hole that is 80 feet in diameter. You can't see the bottom. On the northeast wall of the room is a rectangular metal plate with a 3 foot long iron lever mounted 10 feet above the floor.
Coming around to area #10, you find a featureless room, and in the mostly darkness you can see a 10 foot wide spiral staircase descending into the darkness.
How far down do you go, and what are you doing for light?

Lyngheid attempts to raise the portcullis with her gauntlets and free Baeshra.
You and Baeshra can both make an Athletics check, or one of you can do it with Advantage().
Nyx stands with a hop, jumps on the fire giants and with a flourish flicks her blade as she stows it in it's sheath.
"And that my friends is how you extinguish a raging fire."
She starts to search the giant.
"Did you lot need help with those bars ... ohh I suppose I'm so small and dainty... I'll see to this instead."

" Someones going to come looking for him."
" We waiting for them here or heading in?"
"I think we should head in," Ireniana suggests.
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Umbriel joins the group and opts for going in.
"Going in sound good. Better to keep the element of surprise. Did you want me to do a quick scout ahead?"
