The stairs spiral upwards for a good distance. Making the final turn, you see a large hall. Music fills this hall, and it is split into two levels; a 15-foot-high raised ledge hugs the walls to the north and east, and gently sloping ramps lead up to it. The acoustics here are excellent. Barnacle-covered pillars of hewn rock rise to meet the vaulted ceiling, and a huge crystal window allows in light that casts beautiful patterns on the walls.
Under the crystal window is a very large crab with colored nodules and hollow flutes of beautiful coral growing out of its shell. A beautiful, female storm giant is tapping the nodules on the crabs shell, and the crab is exhaling air through the coral pipes, producing deep tones similar to a pipe organ. Next to the crab is another beautiful, female storm giant, singing.
The rest of the room is filled with mussel shell tables and a giant coral fountain that spouts water. More giants are seated at these tables, there is a cloud giant, a fire giant, a frost giant, and a stone giant. Nearest to you are two more storm giants wearing helms.
The singing storm giant notices your arrival and stops her performance. The two storm giants nearest you follow her gaze, quickly jump to their feet and rush to get between you and the other giants.
The storm giant that was singing now calls out:
"Stop! Let them through. Let's see what brings these puny creatures to court."
Lyngheid focuses on the Fire Giant...hoping it is not Zalto.
" One of you should talk, dwarves and giants have always had a difficult relationship..."
You can see that this Fire Giant is a female, and it doesn't look like you've seen her before. With your passive insight, you get the sense that she doesn't recognize any of you either.
Umbriel clears his throat, and steps forward. "Esteemed personages, we greet you and offer you our respect. We are a small band of problem solvers, seeking to aid in the restoration of peace to our land. There have been attacks made against innocents, and in the course of our investigation, we have learned that His Most Impressive Majesty, King Hekaton, is missing. We have come to offer what aid we can, so that we can defuse the escalating tensions on the surface and perhaps even forge a new bond of trust between our peoples."
There is a murmoring among the giants for a moment, before the one that was playing the crab piano raises an eyebrow.
"So you want an audience with Princess Serissa then? She is far too overwhelmed with important matters at the moment. Tell us, what do you know of our father's disappearance?"

Umbriel's Persuasion: 7
"Esteemed large ones, our need to protect those less able is so important to us, we sought wisdom at the Oracle of the All-Father. It was there we were instructed to find King Hekaton's conch, and use it to come here and assist in finding the King himself."
The Storm Giant studies you thoroughly, and then nods. "Very well. Ormur and Kuruth will escort you to our guest quarters until Serissa can see you. Make yourselves comfortable, there is fresh water and food."
She nods at the two Storm Giants by you, and they motion for you to follow them and head back down the stairs to the rooms you that you first explored.

"Before we exit, may I say that song, your playing, its was breathtaking. And this chamber... its acoustics are the most excellent I have ever seen. It would truly humble me if I could perform for your mighty selves as a show of gratitude for allowing us to help in the search for the King? Not that I could match such beautiful voices"

The one that was playing the crab piano smiles, perhaps a little condescendingly, and motions for you to proceed. She lets your song and flute begin.
Your voice and flute fill the chamber brilliantly, and all the giants seem taken aback with the beauty of it. The giant at the crab piano picks up the tune and attempts to accompany you: 29.
a
It's a brilliant accompaniment! When the song ends, the various giants jump to their feet and start clapping their hands enthusiastically and demand an encore.
The two of you continue and play another song, each building off the other, and it is marvelous in this large chamber!
The conclusion of your second song is met by more applause. The Storm Giant playing the crab piano stands and takes a bow, then takes your hand and takes another bow, with a genuine smile on her face.
After the applause dies down, you hear more clapping from the large hallway at the southern end of the chamber. Everyone turns to look. The smile vanishes from the Storm Giant's face, the other giants bow respectfully and then stand back up.
At the hallway is a young storm giant girl, flanked by an older storm giant man and a storm giant woman. The girl is the one applauding. She looks delighted and says: "That was beautiful! And all these small folk! Who are you?"
"Thank you, it was an honor to play before you all."
Her smiles beams as she gazes over the giants she played with and then looks at the three who have just arrived, bowing again.
"I am Nyx and... as my good friend Umbriel mentioned, we are a mere group of investigators, who while trying to diffuse escalating tensions on the surface world learn of the disappearance of His Most Impressive Majesty, King Hekaton and have come to offer our aide in getting to the bottom of this matter. After seeking the wisdom of the Oracle of the All-Father, he sent us in this direction so we where in the best position of help."

The Storm Giant girl (more of a young woman) responds: "Is that so? I am Princess Serissa, ruling in my father's stead until we can find him. I see you've met my sisters, Nym on the piano, and Mirram singing."
She points to the Storm Giants next to her: "And my advisors, Iymrith and Uthor."
Serissa motions behind her, "Please, come to the Throne Room and we can discuss the aid that you offer."
There is some grumbling from the other giants along the line of "But...we were here first."
Serissa nods at the grumbles and says to the rest of the giants: "Yes, thank you for your continued patience, my esteemed visitors. I will talk with these small folk, and then we will continue our discussion of dissolution of the Ordning. Please, enjoy some more refreshments and entertainment."
With that she motions for her sisters to resume their music, and beckons for you all to follow her. She turns and walks back down the hall.

During the conversations and performances, Baeshra closely watches the giants in the room, trying to gauge their reactions to our offers of help, and later to the Princesses decision to move us to the front of the line.

Baeshra peers inside, "Quarters for servants? I thought giant's usually just took slaves though?"
"Looks too well appointed for servant quarters - maybe they're more amenable to guests here."
The song that you hear floating down from the stairway ends with a small smattering of applause, and then a new one begins.
" In the old tales they were always some of the more amenable of the big-folk..."
"Shall we see who is singing, then?" Umbriel starts heading to the stairs.
Baeshra shrugs, "Anything else we should look into down here first?"
Doesn't sound like it?
What's the order for heading up the stairs? Are you going stealthily, or just walking up?
( Lyngheid is just going to walk up, they're not here to fight.)
