Hastings sheathes his blades as he makes his way over to the rest of the group, keeping a watch over any that are injured until the next step of there plan is decided.
Lia/Emma: The bodies of the casters hold nothing of value, merely burnt robes and staves.
Zogar: As you begin your beacon, Selga, Kimi, Yuriel, Abil and Nevkulm all begin to check their teammates and share in the healing.
After the healing has been done, Edward pulls Aden to his feet. He stands up and wobbles a bit before regaining his composure. Smiling and nodding at you, he readies himself for battle again with a few stretches. "Let's go put an end to this.... ceremony once and for all."
As you prepare to step inside of the keep, you hear a foul chuckle from the death knight's broken body, before it begins to turn to ash, the armor cracking and fragmenting into small pieces and then a fine dust that seems to swirl around in the air before it dissipates.
With that you head into the keep and begin searching the ground floor and find a set of doors built into the floor of a rather large pantry. Both doors are open and a set of stairs leads downward into the darkness.
Aerdeth eventually rejoins the others. The battlefield had been intense, and he worried that they had tarried too long. But to rush in alone was to rejoin the Raven Queen prematurely. He falls into the back of the group as they approach the stairs, peering down to the limits of his darkvision.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Another medical problem. Indefinite hiatus. Sorry, all.
Hastings draws his sword once more as they get to the stairs, raising his hand to tell the others to hold up. "If any of you wish to come along I think that we should scout ahead."
Aerdeth: You look down the stairs and see another floor down below with all lights extinguished. The floor looks to be carved from stone just like the floor you are standing on right now, and dropping low to get an angle you can barely make out a flickering as of some kind of torch off into the distance.
Lia/Emma: The familiars drop down into the basement and fly through the darkness along a hallway that turns to the left about 90 feet in. Around the corner begins the holding cells of the keep, most empty, but a few with people lying on the ground and a couple with several people huddled into the corners of the cells. The floor beyond around the cells area and further back are covered with with a thick mist that rolls and swirls in on itself over and over.
All: The rest of the groups finish searching the upper and lower floors and come into the room to report in. "We've searched both floors from top to bottom and haven't found anything else. We haven't touched the tower door. What's the plan here?" Aden says.
Hrothgar moves towards Aden. The Mithral Blades will go in first. (our group) The tower is to small for all of us to go in at once, its to dangerous.
You will act as the second wave. If you hear combat, follow us in but we must try and avoid bundling up. We do not know what powerfull magics this Lich wields.
He pauzes a moment then turns to the tower door and his group. We should check for traps before opening it.
Hrothgar positions himself near the door, gripping his shield firmly awaiting others which more knowledge of traps and magics to inspect the door. Standing close to absorb the impact if needed to keep the others behind him safe.
Zogar utters a quick prayer of guidance on our door trap checker person. (Whomever that is?) He will assist them as usual.
(No idea who checks our doors. Roleplay wise, I'd assume Hastings, stat wise it'd be Hrothgar or Lia for investigation. I'll throw a perception number into the mix, just in case, with advantage as we seem to be working together.)
You stand before the door and Hastings moves up and looks closely. A light touch tells you the door is made of a light brown hardwood you have seen a few times before in fancy furniture. It is banded with iron around the edges and three horizontal bands in the center dividing the door into quarters. The handle and locking mechanism are also made of iron and you can see there are scratches near the keyhole where people have tried to gain entry over the years.
Hastings finds no traps on the door at all and peering through the keyhole can detect no light on the other side. Zogar places his ear to the door and detects no sounds beyond. With a guarded hand, Hastings slowly and softly tests the handle to see if it is locked, which it is.
With a roll of his eyes, Hastings takes the crowbar and chuckles before he places it in a loop on his belt. He then quickly moves to gather his lockpicks from his pack.
Hastings slides his lockpicks into the lock and after a few tense moments you hear a click and the lock disengages. You peer into the bottom of the tower and you see shelves of books covering the circular walls from one side of the door frame, around the room back to the other side. In the center of the room is a circular staircase spiraling up to the top of the tower.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Hrothgar will move up the stairs first holding his shield in front and close to himself. He moves up the stairs looking upwards to find the end of the stairway.
perception 20 to try and spot an enemy or where the stairway leads.

"We'll send the familiars on ahead." Lia says, nodding to Emma. They then send the tressym and owl on to help scout.

Hastings moves up to the door to check for traps as well or at the least to disarm any that aren't of the magical variety.

Despite the gravity of the moment, Zogar playfully offers Hastings his crowbar, knowing how much that irritates the rogue.
With a roll of his eyes, Hastings takes the crowbar and chuckles before he places it in a loop on his belt. He then quickly moves to gather his lockpicks from his pack.

(OOC: Is Hrothgar moving up immediately, or waiting the ten minutes it takes for detect magic to be cast?)
(He will wait for it to be cast then be the first to head in)
Hastings will move next to Hrothgar and wait for the signal to move ahead, passing the crowbar back to Zogar.
