Mythrras seems engrossed in compiling a list when Beowulf asks him about the village. The Minotaur looks back toward him as he leaves and calls out. " Sorry, about that. I m not really the best with numbers and I need to concentrate. Gino should be the one taking care of the supplies. He knows better then us what is needed. I think he enjoys the freedom it gives him for a few hours." he gins at that last part.
In the village Beowulf will notice that many of the people here have weapons ready to be taken out and that several watch towers have been set at the entrance of the path leading into the village.
At the tavern:
Walben and Thom have a nice chat with the innkeeper .His name is Dan.
" Yep there might be something you can do for us here. We have a pest problem you might say. Seems a band of giant wasps have decided to nestle near our fields. We tried to dislodge them but we lost a man. After that people just decided to go do the fields somewhere else. But now some of those bugs have started to fly in the village."
Fletcher:
The man with the metal leg looks up at you when you walk up to him.
"Well .. " he looks at warforge body up and down, " And I complain..." he smiles to try to get the sting out of his joke but sees quickly hat i falls flat.
"Indeed I am. We happen to be staying here for quite some time, and after some sub-merging in water, my systems and companions will be available for perhaps any logical tasks we may accomplish." Fletcher makes a quick gesture to his party's table, and then continues in his voice, "If it pays, that will also be good for us. How long wouls a job you could offer take? We may be able to finish it at a faster notice." Fletcher says this matter-of-factly, understanding his own party's capabilities in handling situations during the recent encounter.
Fletcher stands still as he waits for the reply, no expression on his face due to having effectively a face-plate, and is rather defensible in case intrusions of liquids happen to try and invade the Warforged's inner mouth. The cone-shaped atop of the shield head is made of pure-steel, yet there is thin acacia wood that connects it to the shield part of his head. Fletcher occasionally draws an arrow out to check on the arrowhead, the shafts of each arrow being made of varying degress of hard acacia wood and soft oakwood. The fletching is made of well-plucked goose feathers, and the nock is comfortable for him.
The man with the metal contraption, calls himself Edritch.
" I got a man missing in the marshes to the north. He should have come back now but i getting worried. He was supposed to find something for me a bit farther. Could you and yours try to retrace his steps and find him ? It should only take you a few hours. A day at most. I ll pay you 20 GP each for finding him, bringing him back and whatever you find on him."
(@GamoRust no problem i assumed it was missed so worked around it :) in post ).
Standing near the others while the innkeeper Dan mentions the Wasps, Beowulf will think back at what he saw in town. Is that what the watchtowers are for? Or are there other things that trouble this village? He asks.
Beowulf will look to Walben Do you think this is a job for us? Following whatever choice he would make. (ill assume Beowulf at least will not have heard Fletchers conversation yet)
"No just the Wasps for now but that's enough. Someone needs to take care of that queen or they will multiply and we will have dead on our hands. A few of our sheep and some dogs have already gone missing." Dan says
To Ambre.
" Well the half elf says, I m going to bed. You can just check if things seem ok. We will talk about it later on if you have questions."
Marcus had lingered in the ship, inspecting the various nooks and crannies of the ship. Eventually he decided heading into town called for and entered the inn. Seeing Thom, Walben and Beo talking to the innkeeper, Marcus decides to see what the warforged is up to. Walking next to Fletcher, Marcus offers the man in front of them a kind smile and a bow before adressing the warforged. Well well, making friends I see. Good day there sir, I trust my companion here has been pleasant company?
Marcus nods at Eldritch saying Yes, well, it seems word spreads quickly. But yes so far this job looks to be quite interesting. Though we are more than able to assist around town as needed. So what was this business we were discussing exactly?
Though you can seem. To grasp the intricacies of the magic that makes this whole thing work you manage to find several loose bolts and do a thorough inspection of all the tubes and vents of the contraption.
Once her inspection is finished as best as she can despite not really being able to understand how the magic of this ship worked, Ambre takes a seat and spends some time messing around with her goggles now that she had her tinker's tools back, finally able to get them properly working.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Fletcher
"I am quite expectionally built for tracking. My creator would say I have quite a good attunement with the nature of these jobs. A perfect time for me to show if my informative self-construct mind palace can work it out. I would accept your job offer. Is there a map that you gave them? A map, or even minor details will be enough for me to begin my tracking of them." Fletcher speaks flatly out of them before Marcus appears, and once he does, he does the same courteous bow, though you can tell he is trained from experience to do so. Having finished arranging his quiver of arrows, he stows the arrows back and turns to gaze upon their party's table. He will try to listen in as much as he can possibly do, probably only hearing of giant wasps and the mention of bringing the entirety of the party cluster, and then will relay that to Marcus.
Despite the ramblings ongoing in the inn, the Warforged is able to catch wind of a mention of the wasps(from Dan), and Walben speaking of giant wasps, as well as finding out that they wish to have the group be assembled for the task. Fletcher relays this to Marcus in a matter-of-fact tone rather than confidence, and continues with the same tone of low-rumbling thunder and a mix of a gentle breeze. Fletcher stretches for a moment, and shows that his body is quite ready for instances such as combat.
Marcus smiles at the information and nods to Eldritch. Well lucky for you, as a member of house Tharask, finding people is a bit if a speciality of mine. We would gladly help find your missing man. Could you perhaps provide us with a name and description of him? How long has it been since you last saw him?
Marcus nods to fletcher to indicate that he heard the others. Though fighting a bunch of giant wasps was not really his ideal choice of work, coin was coin as it were and he would help as required.
"Tren, left a few days ago. He should have come back late last night. You wont be able to miss him. Look for the biggest half orc you have ever seen and that'll be him. We don't have map but he was going by the trail leaving the village and skirting the sea side. A day's hike from here is a over where .. ", he is looking for the right word, " people of Dargun come to do business."
"Gino would love to have a guy like Tren on the Blade so helping him might be helping you....on the long run."
You can see that he is trying to keep this part under the radar.
Dargun
Goblins and their kin have always been part of Khorvaire. Their ancient empire spread across the lands now held by other nations, and goblin foundations still stand underneath many human cities. This empire collapsed into savagery, and when humans arrived from Sarlona, they drove the goblins from their ancestral lands. Thus, goblins have long been a disenfranchised people, living in the shadows of newer nations or in wild lands shunned by humans.
The land now called Darguun was once part of Cyre. The hobgoblin clans known as the Ghaal’dar were based in the Seawall Mountains, but during the war, the demand for mercenaries drew an ever-increasing number of goblins out of the mountains to fight for Cyre and Breland. Late in the war, a brilliant hobgoblin named Lhesh Haruuc Sharaat’kor recognized that the goblins had become the dominant military power in the region. Uniting the Ghaal’dar under his banner, Haruuc seized the territory he was supposed to protect. The Five Nations were unprepared, and Breland quickly negotiated an alliance with Haruuc to secure the border. Cyre fought the goblins until the Day of Mourning, but the majority of delegates involved in forging the Treaty of Thronehold chose to recognize the new nation of Darguun to ensure peace.
Darguun is a young and volatile nation, ruled by Lhesh Haruuc Sharaat’kor. Haruuc remains a brilliant strategist and tactician, but many wonder whether he can maintain the web of alliances that hold the Ghaal’dar together, and whether he and his people will be content to abide by the terms of the treaty.
The Warforged becomes to write this down on a charcoal pen, making a rough map, and with his proficiency with navigator's tools, he is able to make quite a decent map. Fletcher commits to memory of a large Half-orc named Tren, and it easily gets taken into his account.
The land of Darguun is different though, and he has not heard of this land since before or during the war of it's own mention. He does not question it however, and only marks it off as an unknown group, probably traders of a different name.
Compiling all of this, Fletcher nods to Marcus's direction and crudely gestures for him to continue the conversation if needed, and he makes his way to the table which his party are situated in,
In a short time of Fletcher's memory, he is able to recite most of the details to the party, explaining about a missing man named Tren who had recently only left and has yet to come back. He also explains of the source, and general information he was able to gather.
((Fletcher basically recited their entire conversation with the man, and the fact that he overheard them))
