"It's possible." Senine says, looking at the crates in question. "If y'go digging in them, be careful, they may be trapped."

"True," Salem approached the crates looking for some sort of label.

Salem, do an Investigation check for me.  Did you want to open the crate?

Not yet.

The crates look a bit worn, but other than that there's nothing on them to indicate anything.  They have lids but they don't look sealed.

"Maybe we ought to leave them be for now in case there are any other surprises," Sanjay suggests. "If I'm reading these tracks right, then I think Hulil's house might be further in this way."

"I agree with Sanjay," said Faineant. "While there might be something good in there, I would prefer as few surprises as possible while in unfamiliar territory."

Looking further into the cave, does Sanjay notice anything that might adversely affect him or the party?

"Hold on now," Senine says, stepping forward and turning to face the group. "I'm the only one here who ain't been hurt yet, my little dip in the water aside." She looks at Sanjay. "You're lookin' especially rough right now. I ain't tryin' to step on any egos, but before we move on, if we don't have a means to patch ourselves up, we really should consider some options here, strategically speaking."

"We could always make camp, bandage ourselves up, and rest for an hour or so," Sanjay says, "but, I'm afraid of letting too much time pass. Hulil might be hurt."

Senine nods a bit at the sentiment, but is undeterred. "I understand your point, but frankly, she's been here for at least a while already, and if she is hurt or already dead, I'd rather not add five more corpses to the pile because we moved with too much haste." She lifts her shield, tapping the edge against her armor. "At the very least, if we're only taking a short break to patch things up, I'd ask that you let me take point. I'm probably the most able here of taking some hits, and unless I'm off the mark, most of you have some options at range that I don't."

"Senine makes some great points. Hulil may be hurt, but so are you," Thistle says, walking over to Sanjay. She reaches as high as she can on his body and pats him reassuringly. "I'm hurting some myself and I would like it if we could leave with all of us in one piece. I say we rest up a bit, but keep our eyes and ears open and be ready to move if anything doesn't sound right." 

Salem thinks for a moment about what Sanjay said, "But it could also be something helpful.." She slowly lifts the lid off of one of the crates.

Everyone stops in their tracks and holds their breath as Salem lifts the lid of one of the crates.  At first, it looks like something is hairy inside... or fluffy.  Then she realizes it's hide armor, and folded under that are three Blankets of medium weight, on the side are two bed rolls, and a common healing potion (2d4+2).

"Oh thank the gods that it wasn't a beast," Sanjay says, clearly relieved. "I thought for sure a giant spider was going to jump out of there." He's smiling now, despite being in pain, because he's relieved to not be attacked in this moment.

Senine relaxes a bit from where she'd tensed as Salem opened the crate, sighing heavily and taking another pull from her flask. "I'd rather not tempt fate. If we're going to rest the blankets will come in handy, and that potion should fix you up." She nudges Sanjay as she says it.

Sanjay hesitates. You can tell that he doesn't want to be the recipient of charity, but he's also a pragmatist and knows that he does, in fact, need it. "I'll only take it if no one else needs it more," he says.

Everyone assesses their injuries and determine that Sanjay is in fact worse off, but Thistle and Salem aren't much better.

Then, if it's okay with everyone, Sanjay will accept the potion.
