The pools writhe as if the something is alive inside them. Looking at the equipment the Thayans were using, you notice they have prod, like cattle prods, that they must have been using on whatever's in the pools. Now that no one is administering shock treatments to whatever it is, most likely some sort of oozes, you have no idea what they could do now that they are not being restrained.
