The current room is divided in two sections. One small atrium, where you are standing, and a larger section half covered in mist
You entered the atrium from the north wall, on the south wall is a brass lever. To the east of the atrium is the large mist covered section, with the spinning contraption. On the eastern side of the mist covered section is a doorway leading outside.
"Oh, wait. Maybe that thing opens a way, or stops those gears" Lothliénsays, walking up to the lever and holding it. However, he waits for at least one of his friends' approval before he pulls it

Having stepped back into the tunnel they came here through, Lia stops and turns back. "i'll wait here while you try that..." She observes, staying put.
Lothlién moves the brass lever. It offers almost no resistance. You all hear gears turning in the wall and below the floor. The gears stop turning with a loud "clack".
The rumbling sound that came from the misty part of the room stops. You can hear now the sound of running water coming from outside.
"I'll see if the contraptions turned off" Rhok says and cautiously steps toward the mist to see if the contraption is disabled holding a bolt out in front of him and pokes the machine
"Well, that was interesting, but was it useful?" Lia asks with a glance around. "Is there further areas to search across this room, or do we still just need to continue back the way we came and head to the other section of this place?"

You walk into the misty side, the machine is completely stopped. It seems that is meant to keep people outside.
"Well, that was interesting, but was it useful?" Lia asks with a glance around. "Is there further areas to search across this room, or do we still just need to continue back the way we came and head to the other section of this place?"

Looking outside you see a wet rope bridge connecting to the other side of the mountain. The bridge sides are 20 feet above the river below, but it sags leaving its center only 15 feet above water. To the left, downriver, you see the path you used to arrive at Gnomegarde. To your right is a 60 foot tall waterfall. It splashes on the canyon walls, soaking the bridge and causing the mist that covers the room with the spinning contraptions.
Going out of the room, Lothlién pushes the lever, activating the rotating turnstiles and restarting the familiar rumbling sound.
You walk back the way you came in. Everything seems to be as you left it. You arrive at the inventors workshop, where you find Fibblestib and Gnerkli tinkering with different things. They are so focused on their work that they barely acknowledge your passing.
Following the path back to the sleeping quarters you are back at the big room with an extinguished fire pit in the center and 4 small chambers. Two of these chambers have curtains drawn and you can hear snoring behind them. The other two are open and you can see a few wooden cots inside each.
"Seeing how we're so easily able to walk past those two gnomes without them noticing us, could these be the missing gnomes? Gone off for a nap and the rest have no idea?" Rhok whispers to the group "I guess I'm still not that convinced there's a person eating carpet roaming these halls..."
"Well, looks like it's not here" says Lothlién, having his last look around the walls and ceiling of the room for something strange (perception: 10)
"Should we keep going?" he asks, already turning around
