"Didn't think they were good news, but was hoping it wasn't that bad." Lothliénthinks out loud.
"Now I don't think we may negotiate with those things, right? But going in on an open battle probably isn't the smart move. What you guys think, should we try to lure them out, or sneak in?"
Lothlién is willing to give the survivors a bit of his travel ractions.
"Here is some of what I have for food as well." Lia says, pulling some rations from her pack and handing them over. She glances up suddenly, looking to the cave Sabastian was checking out. "There appears to be some sort of large insect-monster in the cave up there... It is sleeping for now, but I am having Sabastian move back from the door, I don't want him to get eaten..." She has Sabastian move back a bit from the door, and the insect-thing, just in case it wakes.
"Sorry about that, my familiar is keeping watch at a door up in that other cave up there." She nods to the cave on the slope above. "Any idea where that door leads to?" She asks the dwarfs, figuring they would know this area better than anyone.
"I can attempt to heal any injured, I have limited skills, but if it helps to stabilize them, I am more than happy. Here, I have some rations as well." Rhok says "We could pick them off one by one, if they are unawares of the other entrance, we can funnel them through the entrance we went into" he adds with a grin
Falkrunn guides you through a winding tunnel. You reach an empy room with a closed door on the south west corner. The dwarf knocks on it in a strange rythm, you hear rattling on the other side and the door swings open.
A dark haired dwarf, as dirty and tired as Falkrunn stands there. Your guide introduces your group and you enter a room where three more dwarves lie in improvised cots. They gladly accept the food you are offering them and confirm that the wererat clan took over the mines by killing most of the miners. They buried the bodies of their companions and are still hiding here because they don't want to abandon the ones that are too weak to travel.
OOC: map description. There are two entrances on the east side of the mountain. Sabastian is on the northern one, inside a twisting tunnel that ends in a closed door. You entered the southern entrance, followed a narrow tunnel and reached a 15 by 35 feet room from the north east. This room has a door on the south west corner going south into the area where the survivors hide. This area is divided into two rooms. The north section is 10 by 20 feet with a door going west. The south section is 15 by 15 feet with another door going west. Both doors have been barricaded with crates and barrels.

Rhok looks over the three dwarves on the cots, and he asks in dwarvish which are the worst injured as he only has 2 heal spells at the moment he can provide
"You know these tunnels better than anyone." Lia says to the dwarfs. She nods to the door that appears to lead to the rest of the mines. "Do we go through there and attack through the mines, use that door I have Sabastian guarding, or go through the front door?"
(She still has not had an answer to her question about where the door Sabastian is at goes...)
"Wererats....are these like werewolves? I've never had the .....pleasure.....of dealing with them" Rhok states, and recalls his silver tipped bolts and sets a mental reminder to use them against the wererats once they engage them

The dwarves are stable, their weakness comes from lack of food and proper rest. After eating some of the rations one of them says he'll keep watch at the entrance near the bushes and starts walking that way. Two of them are so exhausted that they fell asleep right after eating.

Falkrunn thanks you for the rations and talks while eating "all tunnels are connected from inside, the entrance you describe is close to the overseer's office. Both doors going east from this area lead to a storage room first and then to the sleeping quarters. I guess they don't expect anyone to attack them from this side."

The black haired dwarf that opened the door for you introduces himself as Ulfgar Loderran and replies "I'm not sure what they are, but I saw one of them turn into a giant rat to slip into a small hole and then back into a human to kill my friend Rurik."
Don-Jon comforts the dawrf as best as he can and adds "those varmints are evil, we can't let them take over this mine without paying for their crimes!"
"Bahamut's wings are now spread over you, any injustice under his gaze will not go unpunished."Xarroth hands out two more rations for the dwarves for later. He turns to others, a huff of smoke puffs from his nose as he gives them a firm nod to show he is ready to dish out some punishment.
Rhokput's his ear to the door, trying to listen for and sounds coming from the other side, if he doesn't hear anything, he'll slowly open the door, ready to fire a bolt

It takes you a few minutes to clear the improvised barricade in front of the northern door going west. Falkrunn shows you the knock sequence he used before and says that he is too out of shape to help you clean the area. He will stay here to tend to the others and will be near the door to let you back in quickly should you need to retreat. Don-Jon says he will help you get rid of the wererats. He sets his backpack down, taking two long daggers out of it and wraps a sling around his waist.
Rhok listens at the door and doesn't hear any movement. Opening the door slowly, you see an empty tunnel going west for 15 feet. At the end the tunnel turns south, halfway is a passage going north to a 20 by 20 feet storage room. There are five giant rats in this room, they seem angry at being disturbed and attack your group.
OOC: new area description. The door you opened leads to a 15 feet long tunnel going west. Halfway through is a passage going north to the room with the giant rats attacking you. At the end the tunnel turns south for 30 feet, halfway you can see a door going east (this is the southern door to the miner's hideout). At the end the tunnel turns west into the mines.
