(OOC - Oh crap, I actually forgot to account for that gold on my character sheet - I'll add 28 now considering the 8 I lost in the bar and the 6 I had before, hopefully there's no issues with that)
I would say that since he was such a large and rich target for thieves, they got a bigger share of his coin. Silent lost an additional 6 gold when he was drunk. That will teach him not to go drinking alone. :)
(OOC: Totally fair. Would Silent know anything about Hupperdook?)
As Silent straightens up and shakes Magnum's hand there is an audible jingling of coins. He rummages in his pockets and pulls out the pouch that Pockets had given him. Huh... looks like my luck might be changin'.
He turns back to Magnum. Lead the way then, Mr. Opus.
Just Magnum, please. I’m not overly fond of second part. And Magnum considers his not very detailed map of the area before they head towards Hupperdook.
Silent, you've heard that Hupperdook is a city of the Dwendalian Empire, but you don't know where it is beyond that. It's famous for inventions, and seen as a key strategic target for anyone attacking the Empire.
Magnum, from your map and from memory, you know that Hupperdook is a long journey away, weeks if not months of travelling the full length of the Menagerie Coast before heading up through the Wuyun Gorge back into the Empire.
How well equipped are you both for this journey? Do you have tents and everything you would need to survive on the road? Are you hoping to join up with a larger group, or keep it as just the two of you?
Also, please take a look at my earlier questions, and give me at least a bit of an answer - it doesn't need to be too detailed: For both of you, how are you approaching your new travelling companion? Do you talk as you walk, or as you camp? What do you ask about, and how much do you tell the other?
You've been travelling together now for four days. It's a pleasant and peaceful journey; the weather is warm and though the roads are busy, that means you pass another group of travellers every hour or so, not that it's truly full of people in the way a busy town or city road would be.
You've passed through a few villages on the way, and towards the end of the fourth day you are coming towards a small village set perhaps a hundred feet back from the road. You see a crowd in the common, some flags, some dancing, and you hear music. As you are approaching you see a wagon with several travellers headed in the opposite direction to you; it turns off the main road and heads into the village. You could follow and take a closer look, or keep going, as you prefer.
Silent's ears perk up at the sound of music. Oi Magnum - not sure if I told you this, but the main reason I took on that godsforsaken delivery job to Palma Flora was to scrounge up enough coin to buy me a lute.He pulls out his pouch and counts the gold pieces again. Might be a little light here but what do you say? If I keep my hood up I reckon we can lay low, restock our supplies and maybe bargain with some o' the local minstrels.
(OOC: Is it possible that we would have any food supplies worth selling or trading?)
(Not really. You could have spent some hours that day fishing or hunting, and likely the results would be worth silvers at best. The economy for people in a small village is very different than for cities or for adventurers. If you think Silent would have attempted to hunt, then make a Survival check for today, but most things don't last all that long, so just one day's catch.)
A lute, you say? Well, I can make you a lute. My mother was very proficient in the making of such things. Though I'd need spruce for the body, animal gut for the strings, and so on. I don't know if spruce grows around here.
Silent pulls his hood up. If you're willing to take a risk being seen with an outlaw, let's head on down and see what we can find. Been a while since I've had a drink, too...
You walk into the village; there are perhaps twenty houses and well over a hundred people gathered, making merry. Most are wearing wildflowers in chains or decorating their clothes, and you guess these are the villagers, while others wear travellers' clothes and you guess are people who were passing by and attracted, as you were, by the festivities.
People greet you as you approach, and there's much interest from the younger children in the metal man Magnum, and from the older children in the tall, sword-wielding half-orc. You see a group of three musicians playing lively music, though no competitions or games of skill as you might find in a larger city fete.
You can join the tables to eat, or to drink, though these will cost. You can talk to the children, the adults, join the dancing, watch the band, or... do something else? What would you like to do?
Magnum will stay with Silent wherever he goes. Perhaps I should pretend to be your property. Just a construct you won in a contest or game or something?
Silent, you converse with Magnum as you watch and listen to the band. People around you are enjoying the music but also chatting; the music is lively, but the atmosphere is relaxed and fun. There are three musicians, a male half-orc on the drums, a female halfling on the viol, and a female human on the lute. They're pretty good, from what you can hear. And they seem to be having a good time, too.
A few kids keep pestering you both:
Hey, mister, can I have a look at your sword?
If you stand in the sun, can I fry an egg on you?
Are you a mercenary? My uncle Ritt is a mercenary!
What do you eat? Do you drink water?
Have you ever been to the Empire? Did you kill any dragons?
Who made you? Do you belong to that half-orc guy?
You spend a fair amount of time watching and listening. It's night, and torches are lit to illuminate the square as the dancing, eating and drinking continue. A lot of people are getting drunker, and the dancing is getting more... freeform. Children are running around, probably up later than they are usually allowed.
(OOC - Oh crap, I actually forgot to account for that gold on my character sheet - I'll add 28 now considering the 8 I lost in the bar and the 6 I had before, hopefully there's no issues with that)
Pleased to meet you, Silent. I’m making my way to Hupperdook. Eventually, at least. My mother is from there. Magnum accepts Silent’s hand.

Silent, you are carrying with you 4 small freshly-caught fish, each weighing between two and four pounds.
A lute, you say? Well, I can make you a lute. My mother was very proficient in the making of such things. Though I'd need spruce for the body, animal gut for the strings, and so on. I don't know if spruce grows around here.

Silent smiles at the kids trying his best to appear friendly. He eyes the drinks keenly but the sound of music is a much greater draw.
He will watch the band (trying to stay along the edges of the crowd) hoping to speak with any of the musicians if and when they are finished.
He grins at Magnum's suggestion - Or I could be the bodyguard to the king of the metal-folk. Which story will be easier to swallow, I wonder?
Shield guardians and constructs are plentiful, but an entire race is unheard of. Though it pains me, I could pose as your biographer.
