The bartender, a female elf, looks Silent up and down. Well, the more excellent Empire wines are two hundred gold for a bottle, thirty gold for a single glass. Surely not too expensive, but not to everyone's taste, of course. We have more local vintages for ten gold a glass. Or there's a variety of local ales, three gold a tankard. Does your friend also drink?
Silent wrinkles his nose. Three gold for an ale then - I'll take a tankard of the one you like best. After handing over the coin he'll say My friend and I just rolled into town a few hours ago, planning to leave on the morrow. Anything you'd recommend checking out in the city?
The bartender calmly continues to clean tankards and the bar, as bartenders do. I don't know. What are your interests? There's always the Open Quay; it's good to take a look at the ships and some of the markets down there, I suppose.
Well, I'm afraid that while the Ruby will of course be performing tonight, all the tables are already reserved - as is usually the case. Weeks in advance, I'm afraid. For entertainment, the Lavish Chateau is the finest of its kind in the city, but all around us you will find performances, taverns with music and dancing, poetry competitions, displays of art, anything you could wish I think. Just come to this street near the setting of the sun, and you will not be disappointed.
S'pose we might swing by around sundown then. Thanks. Silent will drain his tankard and head for the door.
To Magnum: Should we go find some lodgings? I've got nothing much else to buy - I'm thinking of hunting for food on the next leg of our trip rather than buying rations, getting sick of dried meat.
The Loyal Warrior is a two-storey wooden inn and tavern on the border between the richer Open Quay and the less prosperous Restless Wharf. As you enter the common room, you see the martial influence; the walls are decorated with old swords and shields, scraps of armour and what might be hunting trophies. It's not a Zhelezo bar - the patrons appear to be a mix of moderately wealthy folk who work in or near the docks; at one or the dozen tables you see what might be a private ship captain and her senior officers, at another some clerks and merchants engaged in lively conversation. You notice one unusual feature near the door; a noticeboard on which people have posted requests for adventurers, guards or mercenaries. The bartender greets you with a wide smile as you come in; he's a tall elf with a round face and a fair few battle scars, and he's cleaning the bar on the far side of the room.
While Magnum reads the notice board, Silent will approach the bartender. How much for a room for the night? Just for two folks, and one of 'em doesn't sleep.
The Zhelezo are recruiting mercenaries for attacks upon the underwater base of the vicious sahuagin who struck the village of Kobara some days ago. 10 gold for sea bed attack (underwater breathing magic provided). 5 gold for ship defence. Inquire at Zhelezo post in Restless Wharf.
Transport to Felderwin
Merchant seeking guards for transport of alchemical supplies to Felderwin Tillage in the Dwendalian Empire. One gold per day. Estimated two to three weeks. Option to join return journey Inquire with innkeeper.
Flowers needed
Yellow and white petals, commonly found in northern tip of Quoraska Jungle. Five gold for each living specimen returned. Inquire at Mother's Lighthouse.
Silent pushes eight silver across the bar. Fish stew sounds smashing.
When Magnum mentions sahuagin, Silent's head snaps around toward him. He'll stand up and walk to the board to read the notice.
He turns back to Magnum and speaks quietly. Didn't plan on going back underwater ever again, 'specially not to fight these fellows. The last fight I told you about... almost died with four other allies. I wouldn't bet much on any poor sod taking up this fight.
Not proud of running away from this fight, but not sure if throwing away our lives will be of any use. I want to go talk to this Zhelezo captain though... wanna pay them a visit after I eat?

Magnum shakes his head from side to side, to indicate that he does not drink.

Master is looking for entertainment. Beep beep.

I think we should try the other place that wasn’t a dive bar. The Loyal Warrior.
Good idea. Be nice for a change of pace from the dives. Silent will follow Magnum to the Loyal Warrior.
As Magnum exits the Lavish Chateaux, he gives a flaccid Beep Beep to the guards.

Magnum makes a beeline to the notice board and starts reading. He feels like he can get a good sense of a place from these things.
While Magnum reads the notice board, Silent will approach the bartender. How much for a room for the night? Just for two folks, and one of 'em doesn't sleep.
Magnum, three notices stand out to you.
Silent, the elf says: Five silver for a room, three silver for a meal. Does one of you eat? The fish stew is almost ready.
Silent, it appears the Zhelezo are hiring for attacks on a Sahuagin base.

Certainly. I’m curious to see how bold the sea people have gotten. Also, can I gave my money pouch back?
Ah, right. Silent hands over the coin pouch and takes his seat back at the bar waiting for his stew. Don't worry, I didn't spend any of it.
No need to worry. I trust you. I just remembered I’d given it to you earlier.
