"I'm from Lowhill Ranch." Alton responds. "Balton Wildcloak is my dad, so he will be who to look for. If he can't be found Joy can certainly show the way to my house. You can't miss her, she is one of the few Tieflings that live there."

Lowhill Ranch. Yes, I know it. Well, we can certaintly send someone there.
If you have any other questions, you can post them here - the Lawmaster is polite and happy to answer questions, but clearly expects you all to follow the rules he has set out.
After some time, he brings this encounter to a close.
Well, good night then. I'm sure you can find accommodation at one of the inns; perhaps, Captain, you could assign one of the guards there, to watch over our friends here?
Captain Ressin nods, and escorts you all out. That went well enough, she says. Well done. You were truthful, and that matters in this town. Remember - don't leave town. I'll be seeing you again in the next few days, count on it. She smiles, gives a brief salute, and she and the other guards leave you to your own devices.
You are standing in the streets of Felderwin after sundown. What would you like to do?
Once this day comes to an end, you will have about fourteen days of downtime to spend in Felderwin.
There are lists of downtime activities in the DMG and other sources, and I'm happy to consider anything you wish to do. Some options include:
Shopping (for armour, equipment etc.)
Selling treasures or other items.
Building relationships with the townsfolk
Carousing
Crafting items
Training (though this is a long term project)
Practising a profession
Pitfighting
Relaxation
Research
Some of you also have a quest to complete in the town, and Alton has relatives nearby he may want to communicate with.
As a heads up, you won't be reaching Level 4 quite yet - I want to keep everyone at the same level, and it's not been long since Alton, Wash and Balassar reached Level 3.
Also, if you're interested, I've been trying to line up your campaign with the Mighty Nein's in terms of chronology, so by my calculations, the date you reach Felderwin is 20 Sydenstar, and the downtime period will come to an end at the Harvest Close festival.
Before leaving the Lawmaker, Wash asks "I take it our freedom of movement extends to Ackling Village? I understand it is part of greater-Felderwin and considered by many to be part of Felderwin proper. I have been told by a good friend about a smithy there - I believe it is the Oppaline Smithy - and I am very keen to check it out."
When they leave Wash tries to telepathically communicate with Trogdor I was quite nervous about that meeting with the Lawmaster given the thief's eagerness to get here, but we have not ended up in a cell or in a fight, so that is a win. Were you able to gather any useful intelligence? Did you see the thief being taken anywhere?
Wash then asks Alton on the walk "Do you have any recommendations about the best place to stay? I'd like somewhere fairly secure if that is ok, given our last stay in an inn ended with multiple thefts" then quieter so that only Alton can hear "Did you end up getting the map back? If not, do you want me to find out if Trogdor can keep an eye on the Lawmaster and/or the map? Also, when we are at the inn, are you happy to share what you know of the map and try and sketch out what you remember of it while it is fresh in your mind?"
When they get to whichever inn they are staying and are in a private room Wash lets out a sigh of relief that their possessions were not confiscated. He gets the metal box out out of his backpack (and out of the sack it was wrapped in), checks it, re-wraps it and places it back in his backpack and puts his backpack back on.
Note for myself (so I don't need to search the old thread again) and as a reminder for Alton and Ballasar about 'the package':
We need to get the metal box to Master Ancis Trey, a former Starosta of Felderwin. He now lives in Ackling village ("so close to Felderwin proper that most folks consider it to be part of the town") on Queen Street, five doors down from the Oppaline Smithy. He and Bririck are old friends and Bririck trusts him.
[As it is only 1 guard being assigned to 'watch over' us, I assume that we are not being escorted around, but let me know if that is an incorrect assumption. Wash will stil keep an eye out whenever they are out and about for anyone watching them. Sorry, I know this is a lot in one post.]
Magnum wants to try to craft a pair of goggles of night. He doubts he'd be able to buy a set here. He has a pair from an infusion, but when the time comes, he'll need that infusion for other things.
Ackling? The Lawmaster looks at you curiously. Please make a Deception check, as I think you are trying to conceal something, even though you haven't said anything untrue.
Trogdor replies with an image of a large stone building that you presume to be the prison or other facility owned by the Crownsguard. In the image, Art is being dragged alone the ground by a rope tied to his feet, kicked and screaming and crying, but it's not clear how much of this is artistic license.
(Alton did not receive the map back.)
The guard, a younger halfling who was not part of Captain Ressin's group that fought with you against the undead, introduces herself as Geta. Just here to see where you stay, and make sure you stay there. It would be a good idea to book two weeks and pay up front. That would be a reassuring thing for you to do. If you catch my drift.
(She's not going to trail you around 24/7, just check in on you from time to time.)
As per the DMG, Magnum can create Goggles of Night. It will cost 500 gold pieces and take 20 days to complete. The money is spent at a rate of 25 gold per day, so it's up to you how much time and money you want to spend right now. He won't be able to complete it, but there's no problem with picking it up later on.
Alton nods along with Wash and adds in trying to help a little, "I was recommended the smithy as well when I asked about seeing if my armor could be upgraded."
As they go about their somewhat locked down business, Alton sakes his head and replies to Wash. "No, I don't think I'll get my map back until this is all over. And thank you for the offer, but I think that might look bad on our part. Wrong ideas and whatnot. As for a place to stay; I don't really have any recommendations. My dad and I would only stay somewhere in the winter, or early spring and late autumn when it was still too cold to camp. Even then it would be the cheapest place he could find. He really liked to save as much money as possible, you know." Alton turns to Geta and asks, "Do you have any recommendations, Ms. Geta? Since I guess we will be here for a while."

Balassar just nods as everything transpires, choosing to remain quiet. When they are released he gets up and follows the party understanding Greta as she talks about what would benefit them. He decides to speak up now "Two weeks in a long time, is there a place to train and fight in town so my skills don't dull?"
Ackling? The Lawmaster looks at you curiously. Please make a Deception check, as I think you are trying to conceal something, even though you haven't said anything untrue.
Yep, there is definitely an important omission. Hopefully I can break my terrible roll streak, Deception: 23
I... think it might be best if one of my guards accompanies you; it is on the edge of town, as you say. Captain, you can arrange that, of course? The Lawmaster frowns, suspicious but seemingly not quite sure what he's suspicious about, and not pushing the matter any further.
Ressin nods. As you are leaving, she indicates that your guard for tonight, Geta, will also be joining you on any such visit.
You are very welcome to train with us, Geta says to Balassar. She doesn't appear to be worried at all about the formidable dragonborn who towers over her. Perhaps we can teach you a thing or two.
Oh, the Goldfield Tavern and Lodge is popular with travellers; it's just down this road. I can show you the way if you like. Geta seems enthusiastic and helpful.
Balassar smiles and nods "It's been a while though since I've been around troops, but I'm willing to give as good as I get so bring it. Though if you can beat me I'll buy your drinks for three days that I'm here." he says holding out his hand to Greta. It was clear that she had earned some respect with the dragonborn.
Geta shakes your hand warily. Just don't cause me any trouble, folks. Or my buddies. Just keep in town and don't go sneaking off and getting into trouble.
You arrive at the Goldfield Tavern and Lodge; inside it is packed with locals as far as you can tell, and it's warm, noisy and cheerful. The innkeeper, a halfling with short gray hair, stands behind the bar; he's busy with some customers and doesn't notice you enter. A few people look up and see you, and their expressions seem curious but friendly.
Magnum approaches the innkeeper. Hello. My associates and I are looking to book some rooms while we’re in town for a fortnight or so. How much for a room for two weeks?
The innkeeper looks at you, and the rest of the group. For five people? Don't have any rooms that big. One room will fit two of you, three at a pinch. A room for two weeks would be... four gold, if you pay up front.
Alton nods, "I don't mind sharing a room. I don't take up a lot of space so if Balassar wants to we can do three to one room." He turns to Geta, "We'll do our best not to cause trouble."

Balassar just shrugs "No offense to you two, but if it'll be two weeks I prefer to have my own space." he looks at the inn keeper "Do you happen to have rooms that lock as well. We have trust issues with those we don't know right now."
