You set out, though it's late in the afternoon now. You follow the directions you've received, and find a small trail that heads off out of town and into the countryside.
Can I get a Survival check as you begin to follow this trail?
Silent, the path seems clear enough at first, but once it fades to a faint trail you find only occasional signs of the passage of groups of people recently. You have to double back more than once, and before you've made much progress, night has come. Will you continue through the night? Or pause to camp?
You do manage to set up your camp just shy of the top of a small hill, in a place shielded from the worst of the wind. You do notice the weather is getting a little chillier than before, though you are in hills rather than mountains. Do any of you have a tent?
Can you each let me know if you're taking first, second or third watch? And also please make fourPerception checks each, so I can use them for the following nights - depending on how long this takes...
It's another frustrating day; Silent, you keep feeling like you know where these tracks are going, but three times you have to tell the group to turn back and retrace their steps. Each time gets more and more embarrassing and annoying. At least you manage not to lose the trail entirely, but it's hard to tell if you're gaining any ground.
Night comes, you camp and keep watch; nothing troubles you.
Silent or Balassar can make another Survival roll (with advantage) for the third day.
Balassar, you make better progress today. You get the sense that the second set of tracks, most likely belonging to this so-called Red Company, are not more than two days old - perhaps they also struggled to follow the kids.
As the day comes to an end, you make camp for the night. First watch and nothing happens. Alton, during the second watch you are very alert to every slight movement and tiny noise, and you hear them before they get close to camp. You have time to wake the others before you get a clear view of what's approaching, but it's multiple footsteps and whispered voices.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Alton's Initiative: 7
Alton moves around to Silent and Balassar, waking them up quietly and telling them in a whisper, "There are a few someone or somethings out there and they are getting close."

(Looks like I'm seeing this first so I'll have Silent roll, his modifier is decent)
Survival 9

Alton looks around their surroundings and how dark it is getting. "I think we should make camp for the night and start up again fresh in the morning."

Agreed. Sorry lads... looks like I lost the trail. Maybe we'll have better luck at sunrise. Silent will help set up the camp.

Silent also lacks a tent so he'll hunker down in his bedroll. He'll take the third watch.

You spend a chilly first night wondering how much a tent might cost... :) Happily, you are left undisturbed by the local wildlife.
Can someone give me a Survival check for the next day of tracking?
Alton isn't the best at trying to find and follow tracks, but he will help whomever decides to look.

Okay, Balassar or Silent can roll with advantage.
Right lads, this time's for real. Silent grins at the other two as they begin their expedition.
